Are they kino or bino? I've got a Lenovo LOQ and it's pretty based ngl but I know cost to performance+longevity regular PCs are the way to goAnyway feel free to post specs, ask questions etc
I've got the Omen MAX 16 with a 5080. I heard some not good things about it but the price was good and I'm not going Lenovo again after having some issues with my previous Legion. I've had it for 6 months now and so far so good, no issue at all, I may need to do a repaste though. However the HP Omen gaming app totally sucks ass.
>>738782297I have an MSI gaming laptop, it's pretty good. I took it on vacation to play majoras mask.
my 2020 laptop is about as fast as my 2016 tower, which cost twise as much
>>738782297It depends totally on your own needs, the specs you got, and the build quality. My very first gayman' laptop was a 2010 Asus ROG G60VX, with a Core2, 4GB DDR2 and GTX 260M 1GB. Got it dirt cheap from Ebay, and it was a delightful little travel companion, study partner, LAN party machine, and a backup system when my desktop went ka-put.I later sold it to some Overwatch kiddo for a couple hundred bucks, meaning it probably still works.I'm currently wielding an older Acer Nitro 5 with 7th gen Intel i5 + GTX 1050ti + 32GB DDR4, and it gets the job done at everything I use it for.The neutered W10 IOT LTSC Enterprise edition 2021 helps with performance, security and privacy. Nothing goes in nor out without my permission!
>>738782570Damn how much did that cost? Also what issues did you have with your Legion? I love my LOQ but will admit it runs hot on my hands if I'm not using a controller it pisses me off. Mostly I just connect my Xbox controller so it's not an issue but if i do game something and use the keyboard it's a little too hot for comfort >>738782798Sounds like a solid rig. My LOQ has an RTX 4050 and 24gb RAM so i can run almost everything 60FPS+ at 1080p but part of me wishes i had an OLED display
>>738782297They suck ass and their only redeemable quality is portability. I can take mine on the 2 week shift at the gas fields and have something to do in the evenings
I game on a non gaming laptop and it's been going fine
>>738782297I've got a Legion 5 that I've had for 5 years now, it doesn't sell anymore but I got it over others because I could upgrade the RAM and NVMe. It has a 3060 laptop and 6GB VRAM but it's still holding up. It cost £1200.I haven't replaced it because I'm simply not getting filtered by my hardware on games I'm wanting to play. The only thing I haven't been able to do is raytrace nicely. On Cyberpunk 2077 I can run the graphics maxed out with the highest crowd density running at around 50fps. Raytracing it drops to 10s but stays around 20.Pathtracing is 2 seconds per frame. For £1200, it's been worth the money.(I also use it for computer science and cyber security)
>>738783339Based. Yea Ray tracing and path tracing are a massive meme anyway. Regular baked in lighting looks great as long as the devs are competent. I'll take resolution+performance over some meme lighting setting. It's the most overrated shit ever. Can your 3060 do frame gen? I don't use it often but for Hogwarts Legacy the 2x framegen actually helped quite a bit
>>738783435It can though I'm never really bothering with it, I limit everything to 72 frames since the screen is 144 and half the refresh rate is confortable enough for me. Before this I only played on consoles and laptops I had couldn't play shit, so anything above 30 feels good enough.Raytracing likes to make the floor look wet, clean and still, it looks good sometimes but it's very strange often.
Something in the 4060/5060 range will have absolutely no problem trouncing everything up to the crossgen period, more recent games with heavier VRAM budgets can be enjoyed but you'll have to drop the settings to somewhere around console equivalent. They're more memory constrained than a PS5 but have access to the much better upscaling software, so it's a give and take. Higher end XX70 and XX80 models will perform better but think of them as XX60 Ti or Super rather than equivalent to the desktop class GPUs, whereas the lower end models perform very similarly to their desktop counterparts
Be mindful of the burns you'll get on your legs with extended use. Gaming laptops can get pretty hot.
>>738784632Most people have those gaming laptop stands don't they? For me i just put the duvet between my legs and the laptop without blocking the main vents and it works fine. Spastics act like it kills your laptop but it absolutely doesn't ive been doing it for years. I know a stand would be better but I've never had a problem just having it resting on the duvet but keeping the vents exposed
They lower sperms count.
>>738784632If you're using it at home just get a desk.Nevermind the burn marks you're going to fuck your posture up. A desk and a shitty chair will be £40, don't be a retard and rest your upper body weight against your spine.
want to extended your laptop's health and lifespan and stop getting leg burns?get a sealed fan coolerllano, IETS, Flydigi, etc.they can get loud if you crank it all the way up which you shouldn't really need to but they work and work well>>738784808stands are good but the best coolers can function as stands as well although they may be slightly more unwieldy
Gaming laptops are pretty good in terms of performance/$ considering the portability, current 5070tim laptop I'm using is equivalent to rtx 4070 and I got it with an oled screen ultra9275hx+32gb ram and 2tb ssd for 2.2k euro(LegionPro7i). Obviously for the same price you can run a desktop with a great cpu+9070xt and a nice peripheral.
>>738782297Sadly most /v/nons here used a gaming laptop back when they were built like nuclear power plants so a gaming laptop thread will always be in the negative.
>>738782297They are not for long gaming session because how poor their termals areIf you play games on this daily then i think it will only last a year or two maxJust build a pc and a cheap but good build quality laptop for travel purpose
>>738785415it does show how gaming has progressed where a gaymen laptop thread no longer is laughed off the board within 7 posts
>>738785415I would argue it got even worse than it used to.GTX 1xxx craptops had very capable GPUs, comparable to desktop. After that nGreedia went full scam mode. You simply cannot fit 600W GPU in a laptop, so they sell you "5090" which performs worse than desktop 5070Ti.AyyMD gave up on dGPUs for laptops all together.Only low end nV dGPUs like 5060 are in similar performance range as desktop GPU counterpart. You are also fucked when it comes to VRAM.On top to get decent GPU you need to buy a model with overpriced CPU you don't really need.Laptops still overheat because people want their cake and eat it too.So manufacturers keep selling those thin gaming laptops instead of designing slightly thicker more robust constructions.I have yet to see a laptop that doesn't turn into a jet engine when running demanding games.
>>738785516I got nearly 4 years out of my HP Pavilion I bought in 2020 and I bought a Lenovo LOQ more than a year ago and it's showing zero signs of slowing down. I don't think your 1-2 years timeframe is accurate I'm not cautious with my laptops whatsoever and that seems wrong
>>738782297they're for third worlders with intermittent power
I have a Lenovo Legion 5i 15 with 16GB RAM and RTX 5070. I got it in a black friday sale cause it looked good but Idk much about builds. Did I do good anons?
>>738786752yeah you did great, you bought something that doesn't perform as well as the desktop equivalent for the same price
>>738782297what the fuck is bino
>>738786752RTX 4070 is 12gb VRAM right? Sounds like you hit the money line. So long as you're happy with 1080p-1440p resolution you're set for a long time
>>738782297>buy a $500 laptop for work>buy a $1500 PC for gaymingWay better option than spending $2000 for a passable gaming laptop that'll fall part in 3 years due to heating problem
>>738782297Gaming laptops have an expiration date, they'll last maybe 3 years before becoming slow and unusable pieces of shit
>>738782297they’re loud as fuck. fuck gaming laptops as a concept. unless you’re a traveling businessman who can’t go without games they’re worthless.
>>738782297They are great if you play 2d games mostly. The massive heatsink and cooling capability means they are super quiet when you just use it as a regular laptop.
>>738782297I got a lenovo legion 5 with a 4060 and a AMD CPU which I underclocked to make it run cooler. Probably gonna upgrade when the RTX6070 comes out in 2030 but right now it plays every game I want to play at high settings and it runs cool which is all I ask for.
>>738785273You can get one of these off Temu and they pretty much fix all the issues of gaming laptops by pushing air into the laptop itself which cools everything faster than the laptop's own fans and your gaming isnt about to overheat anything anymore.
>>738782297cursed be any ragging homosexual that uses meme words like "kino"Anyway, laptops are good for playing on the go, in the living room tv on occasion etc. I got a LOQ 15ARP9 with a 4050 and 24 GB RAM and I'm happy with it. I played Quantum Break in the living room and I use it for Olden Era and D2 resurrected.
>>738782297kino
>>738782297I recently got myself an Alienware Aurora laptop with an rtx 5050 gpu and it's pretty great, of course I need dlss to run stuff that's more demanding, but the games still look and run better than a console
>>738782297I travel quite a bit for work (and pleasure, I guess). I got a custom upgraded laptop with a 5070ti, 32gbs of DDR5 RAM, and an 8940HX. In terms of gaming, it can play pretty much anything I throw at it, but I can't really play anything intensive without a cooling pad. The thing is hot as a motherfucker.
>>7387863584 yrs is till to short for a computer A pc could last more than 10 yrs and you can upgrade it anytime without replacing every partOverheating is still the biggest problem unless you're using a low end or integrated gpu, this is why hp pavillion last longer than gaming laptop
>>738786839>black friday saleSame price, huh?>>7387868945070*You guys don't fucking read
>>738789613You can lower your processing power but overheating is still a major problem for every high end laptop I remember playing helldiver 2 and my cpu could reach upto 98c very easily
