Sorry you missed out on your formative years, but don't take it out on others.

OSRS quest structure is like point and click adventures of old, but less vague. Everything is quite literally explained within the game if you're inquisitive enough. There are things that are difficult to figure out, but the longer you play, the more your knowledge and understanding expands. Always right click everything, use examine, take note of everything, because it can all be helpful in the future.
>>
>>738795563
oh come on dont bullshit
everyone just uses quest helper, wiki guides or slayermusiq

even back in 2006 people would just tell each other how to do quests in-game chat hardly anyone ever did quests like this.
>>
The quests are by far the worst part of runescape. Everyone just pulls up a wiki guide and prepares every item you'll need ahead of time and follows a set of directions. The writing is peak reddit humor too.
>>
>>738795563
Would be true if OSRS didnt use a guide
The other issue is the game is padded as fuck, so if you try to quest without using a guide you will constantly be having to run all the way back to a bank to grab a rope or something and then all the way back to the quest
Try to solve a puzzle organically and chances are youre running around for 30 minutes
>>
Everything after WGS (the original) is not real Runescape
>>
>>738795690
>LE REDDIT
Because runescape never took itself seriously and the quests reflect that. There are a million billion "save the world from destruction oh great hero" MMOs out there if you care about that so much. RS3 leans more towards this crap but OSRS you're basically just some guy who stumbles his way towards things
>>
>>738795653
No fucking shit, it's because people of today are too impatient and wish to rush content to get to different content
it's the WoWbrain talking, people want to skip straight to dungeons and raids without any of the effort of training or questing
The ones who do the quests using their own noggin will find figuring things out very rewarding.
>>738795890
Most quests will tell exactly what you need. Got any examples of quests that are so incredibly cryptic where you would never know what to take with you as you progress in the quest?
>>
>>738795441
>>738795563
There's actually some bullshit moments in quests though. Especially when they made new quests, they made them puzzles that would be solved from a community aspect. The puzzle in SoTe for example requires you to get 6 items, and the descriptions are fucking vague. I managed to get 5 out of 6, but the last one was a fucking cabbage, with the riddle being "its green and humans despise it".
>>738795690
Okay but that's because Jagex actually wants you to prepare for a quest. I did most blindly and I always would get:
Tinderbox
Axe
Pickaxe
Rope x 2
Chisel
Knife
Bow and arrows
Hammer

It's not exactly rocket science bro, you're going on an adventure, and you'd show up empty handed?
>>
>>738796276
You have never done quests without a guide
>>
>>738795294
is anyone else here a body type 2 gamer? I love how inclusive osrs is to the lgbtqia+ community
>>
pretty glad i stopped playing this dogshit.
2100+ total ironmeme btw. don't think i ever really "enjoyed" playing runescape, it was just something i did while afking at work or when i NEETed

Using fire wave on the dragon forge in the mithril dragon area during DS2
Song of the elves riddle in baxtorian falls. I grabbed a shadow sword when the text said a blade forged in darkness, and the solution were black knifes, also green cabbage, I thought of green dragon hide

Also MEP2
>>
I refuse to believe anyone did mep2 or mm2 without a guide or help. People were doing that shit in a lobby or discord when it came out.
>>
>>738796636
discord didn't exist in 2005 liar
>>
>>738797203
No but game forums and similar voice programs did lil zoomie
>>

People working together to overcome challenges in a multiplayer game?
The horror
>>
>>738796327
Cool autism anon but that's just not how people do the quests. Because they suck. Everyone prepares by reading the wiki and getting that shit over as quickly as possible so they can return to the normal game. People wouldn't even touch runescape questing if it wasn't tied to gating game mechanics. It's that terrible

Woke garbage game.
>>
>>738797653
why are you playing a browser mmo designed for poor kids in the early 2000s if you want exploration? There are thousands of better games for that which don't waste your time to extend subscriptions
>>
>>738797736
>poor kids
>13+
>>
>>738798016
It was designed to run on poorfag computers so poor kids that couldn't afford real MMOs could be fleeced for $5 a month instead of $15
>>
>>738795563
>Everything is quite literally explained within the game if you're inquisitive enough.
I've been working through every quest blind and this is complete fuckpisshorseshit.
Blind questing, you can REALLY tell that a lot of this game was written by unpaid interns who had no business creating anything.

>Using fire wave on the dragon forge in the mithril dragon area during DS2
>quest has 75 magic requirement
What is the spell you unlock at 75? Did you bother examining the objects around the forge for clues?

>Ode to eternity
>"With them you must place a knife, That darkness has claimed..."
You read knife, and thought of sword?
>"The final piece to hold the gate, Is green and round and grows from dirt..."
Dragon hides grow in the dirt?

What part of MEP2 did you find impossible without a guide?
>>
>>738798457
Do tell, which quests had you completely stumped when blind questing, and I'll tell you why you're just impatient and retarded, not capable of solving puzzles. You want easy shit like squares in square holes, games like Myst and Riven go right over your head

Also fuck this fucking bullshit, that's a horrible riddle and you fucking know it. There's 0 reference to magic and dragons.
>>
>>738799392
What did the objects around the forge tell you when you examined them?
Where else in the quest did you utilize the 75 magic requirement?

What was so great about 2011scape? I only played RS from like 2005-2007 as a kid in elementary school.

>>738799656
Regarding the items green dragonhide and a cabbage, which one does "humanity despise" within the game's context? The valuable material used for ranged armour or the one thing that there's an infinite supply of, and one of the first things a low level adventurer would fill their bag with, only to go "yuck" as they eat it
Also, don't forget to reply to the previous questions
