but what doth this doeth with the video game
>>
>>738802828

This is video game related. Back in 2009 to 2013 Moot would let us have at least one non-vidya related thread that was active because this was the most popular board and everyone who was cool came here and we could chat about manga, porn, food, 4chan news, movies and racist shit.

If you think about it all daily life things are vidya related because they occur to /v/ goers and it effects our expensive pass time. Which is playing vidya. Vidya is about many things like being able to afford food. Maybe GTA VI will have economics in it. Skyrim had a little of that.

Real. Depends on where you live obviously, and I'm not talking about buying the ingredients from scratch, but the cost portion-wise. Flour is cheap, yeast is cheap, tomato paste is cheap, pepperonis are cheap. The Mozzarella cheese is the most expensive ingredient, making up over half the cost. Aside from that the various seasonings for the tomato sauce aren't even worth calculating, maybe a few cents total if you're already stocked up on them. Other cheap toppings like onion, green pepper, olive slices, jalapeno slices etc are nice too. Any other meats like chicken and sausage will bring the price up though.

>>738804354
Idk I can see it. Pizza ingredients are dirt cheap, that’s why it costs $20 for a decent meal at McDonald’s for one person unless you leverage deals out the ass in the app but you can get a large five topping pizza for $10.
From my local store:
A pound of pizza dough is $2.60 (which is enough for two pizzas according to Google)
https://www.heb.com/product-detail/10389013
A 14 ounce can of pizza sauce is $1.28 (which is enough for two pizzas)
https://www.heb.com/product-detail/15767040
A bag of pizza cheese is $2.92 (enough for one pizza)
https://www.heb.com/product-detail/14840038
So a 12 inch cheese pizza costs $4.86 if you buy all of the ingredients prepackaged. I’m certain you can find cheaper cheese than that, I just picked the first result for pizza cheese, same deal with the pizza sauce. And I know you can make dough yourself for cheaper than that because it’s just flour and salt and water, you could probably make the pizza sauce for cheaper from scratch yourself too but I don’t feel like looking up all the ingredients.
My point is he’s really not that far off.

>Can't afford food
Eat peas and rice. Rice just because google says you can live off peas if you have rice.

They're very cheap and easy to make.

Get a microwave, a rice cooker and an air fryer.

Making your own chips/fries and cooking them in an air fryer works fairly well. Along with peri peri sauce.

Peas in the microwave for 6 minutes. Less with a powerful microwave.
Potatoes can also be steamed in a microwave if you put several in a glass bowl, a little bit of water, and a plate on top. Then mash them with a masher after 20 minutes. Margarine.

Pour rice into a rice cooker. Add water, enough so there is a knuckle/finger tip between the rice and the surface of the water. Leave on and let it turn itself off.

Mayo goes very well with peas and even rice. I use Hellmann's vegan mayo. You can buy it at a third of the cost it would be in shops from Amazon in 2.4 litre jugs.
Salt and pepper too of course.

Eating peas WILL make you lose fat. Fast. In a year you WILL lose 30kg of fat without doing much. Not noticing it either. No stretch marks. Running on a treadmill while playing games, browsing and watching movies will help too. Muscle. Try to eat protein powder, but it's hard to make taste good. A blender and banana works.

Getting money is almost impossible. It is very hard to get a job unless you are educated filth. Or some scum with a resume.

But good food doesn't cost much. The stuff you should eat is cheap. You can still spend a lot on it. But yeah. Rice and peas. Rice and peas for a year would probably cost as much as fast food for a week. Rice can go fuck itself in my opinion. Fuck the energy from it. And you can get more protein from protein powder. Ignore what google says about you not being able to live off it. And live off it if you're fat. Lose fat. Get fit. Try and get farm work, that's probably the easiest to get. Then building labouring. Then try and do what you want while making money from it.

No idea. Money generally cost your soul.

Don't buy overpriced garbage. Not sure why this is so hard for the average poorfag to figure out. Turns out that most of them are poor because they are too stupid to not be.
>>
>>738806790
my choice local spot is like $30 for a large and i still go there because their pizza is fucking amazing
there is nothing special about it, no gimmicks to justify it being overpriced, they aren't trying to be high-end or anything, they just make everything fresh and are super consistent
that price is with add-ons, i always prefer extra cheese and that means they have to bake it longer so the rest of the toppings get a bit of crust to them which i also prefer

meanwhile if you show up too early to a chain pizza spot you get to personally witness the wagie take your pizza out of the freezer and put it into an oven

i do not understand how places like that stay in business, being super minmaxed for throughput by cheating with frozen pre-made bullshit and being bland and horrible, when local spots just consistently blow them the fuck out in quality.

Costco doesnt require a membership to walk in and buy the pizza or hotdogs.
The membership alone is worth it to save on the gas prices, especially how they are now. If you normally buy food in bulk and have a decent sized freezer you can get a lot of mileage for an equal amount of expense compared to a regular grocer.

they have the perfect dough recipe, it's always crunchy outside but soft inside and has actual flavor to it

something about this type of 'za divides people tho, some ppl say it's slop others say they'd fuck it up in a heartbeat. the extra cheese can be hard to handle

i think that is the point of eating out, if you're going to treat yourself, it'd better be super greasy and unhealthy. i am not dead yet dammit.

It's a discount on things I was buying anyway, on top of the generally lower prices I pay by volume at Costco. The point is that the membership is effectively free if you get the top tier one.
That said, you can share the membership with someone "in your household" and reap the benefit of their purchases as well. That part is free money.

All the restaurants in my town, regardless of cuisine, got bought out by indians and now all the food quality has gone to shit but they still had the audacity to up the prices. It's really sad to see, there's this cute little bar on the corner of an intersection 2 minutes from my place. They used to make outstanding bar pizza. I ordered it once after they were bought out, and what I got looked like pic related. Never again.

>Your food isnt so good that i'm dropping 20 dollars on a pizza slice, or 70 dollars on a 2 pizzas and a fry.
Pretty much this, the food is unhealthy, greasy and filled to the brim with salt. The point of it was that it was cheap as shit and convenient because you didn't have to cook yourself. Somehow they forgot that paying 20 bucks for garbage slop is fucking retarded.

Always one of these guys in the replies. Yes, obviously a stone oven is optimal but the poster is not talking about making the perfect end all be all pizza. You can easily make a decent pie at home that is better than 90% of restaurants and every single pizza chain, and you can do it for cheap. You can cook a perfectly acceptable pizza in a regular convection oven without buying san marzano tomatoes

Nta but you can insulate yourself to some extent. The mortgage payment for my 3000 sq ft house is only $950, so I have breathing room when gas and food gets more expensive. The flip side is I live in a town of 50K in a flyover state. I like it here and think it’s a fair tradeoff for financial freedom and not being too affected by cost of living spikes. Not everyone feels the same or else it would be more crowded here.

As a former wagecuck at multiple locations, I can vouch this isn’t the case at Little Caesars. The pizza and crazy bread dough is always made fresh in store daily. Flour, water, yeast and vegetable oil. The cheesy bread dough comes in frozen and premade, but we could make it out of crazy bread dough too when we ran out of the premades.

Now it's expensive, not very good, and still unhealthy. And you can doordash anything without even leaving your room. So it just has no niche.
If you're going to pay extra by eating out you might as well order traditional slop from a restaurant rather than literal sludge.

Also, ozempic.

Yeah. I did a quick sum of what I've spent on games, including consoles and it was over 20 grand AUD.

All of that could instead have been a couple of PCs. And just pirating.

The deal of the moment is to get a PC, store it somewhere. And use moonlight to play it remotely. On your phone. Using a controller too. Or touchscreen.

Then you aren't bound by a place. And can sleep on a camping cot in the bush. Travel with a backpack. Still have a good PC virtually on your phone. A little lag but not much. Still need a good phone though.

Can do the same with a console.
Have a solar charger and you're free. Then just have to worry about food because you can't carry a fridge.

I grew san marzano tomatoes at home and made sauce from scratch. It's not worth. Neither are the ones in a can, genuine san marzano or the "san marzano style" ones, it makes next to no difference. Pretty much any plum tomato will work the same. Just get whatever's cheapest, what matters most is cooking it long enough and adding garlic.
Garlic is also super easy to grow and will come up basically anywhere.
Food doesn't have to be expensive, people are just trained to believe everything they buy must be ready to eat. The labor premium alone of doordashing a cold soggy pizza costs more than just making the fucking pizza.
We are a civilization mostly fed by grain and I bet most people ITT have ever made their own dough, not even grinding the flour just using store bought flour to make dough. It's so easy children can do it and nobody bothers. They'd rather eat store bought cardboard that's 50% corn syrup by volume but costs more.

It's more that to make "good" food, you spend more on quality ingredients rather than corn syrup slop bullshit goyim food. This is common worldwide.
>2 cans san marzano tomatoes: 14 burgers pretax for 2 cans (all prices rounded to nearest dollar to consider for tax)
>5 pounds unbleached non-goyim flour: 4 burgers
>fresh basil, non goyim: 3 burgers
>oregano, non-irradiated for non goyims: SIX FUCKING BURGERS

>onyo: x2 at 1 burger a pop so 2 burgers
And that's a basic bitch pizza recipe with nothing but cheese on it for 63 bucks. That's how much it costs to make a pizza from scratch.

This falls under the category of "you will live to see manmade horrors beyond your comprehension" for me.
I remember before Ozempic, there was a similar drug that worked by killing your appetite. It was a synthesized version a chemical found in pregnant horse piss. It wasn't literally horse piss, but at that time everyone who took it was mocked for injecting themselves with pregnant horse piss and rightly so. Ozempic is the same shit, it was synthesized from GIla Monster Venom. You are injecting yourself with a synthetic version of a chemical found in literal poison to kill your appetite.
It just reeks of absolute decadence and it's indictive of cultural decay. Rather than simply changing their eating habits and going for a walk everyone once in a while, people are injecting themselves in the gut with a poison that kills their appetite and don't see any issue with that. They'd rather pay a pharmaceutical company (or force me to pay for it through taxes with socialized medicine), lift up their shirt and stab themselves in the gut every day and starve themselves because they've killed their appetite than simply eat less and exercise more. They haven't solved their problem, they've just traded it for a different one. It's like quitting heroine by smoking crack.

Ozempic is probably good because even if all you need to lose weight is the willpower for diet and exercise, which is better than ozempic, people are still fat as fuck. I disagree, they are losing weight but it's through starvation. Starvation is not healthy. They've learned that instead of changing their behavior they can take a medicine. This makes them less independent and more dependent on medication.

I think there are unforseen consequences to long term ozempic use that will be swept under the rug to maintain the reputation of the drug. It can't be good for you to kill your appetite long term.

It's Baby Boomers, unironically being able to trick Gen Z into thinking all the problems in the world, created by Baby Boomers, were the fault of Millennials so they should embrace the right wing politics of Baby Boomers to 'fix' it, which in turn have made things much worse.
If every gen, regardless of race and economic background just turned on the baby boomers to completely remove them from economic and cultural power, shit would instantly improve for us.
Will that happen? Sadly no since baby boomers are exceptionally good at divide and conquer. Expect to see that from (you)'s here.

About six years ago I stopped going out to eat and started cooking everything. I meal prep my kids and wife's lunches. I make our dinners. Breakfasts are usually something quick and fast like a granola bar or fruit. We go out to dinner maybe twice a year for our anniversary or a birthday. I'm still spending $2000+ a month on food for a family of five. Like, meat is so expensive. Everything is expensive. We are solidly upper middle class and we have to jump through hoops just for this. I have no idea how people who make a quarter of what we do even survive. It's also a complete slap in the face how I live now compared to when I was a kid. Every week my, comparatively more poor, parents would take my brother and I out to dinner on Friday and on the way home we'd rent a movie and video game. That alone would cost $10k a year now just for the dinners. Inflation has turned what used to be a standard middle class lifestyle into a luxury for the rich.

I refuse to believe anyone actually likes that ungodly sweet Papa John's pizza. In all my time eating shitty frozen pizza, to the restaurant slop, to the good shit, I've never had to throw away a pizza after one bite. Surely Papa John's isn't nearly as popular as places like Pizza Hut/Dominoes/Lil Caesars. That being said, Pizza Hut is way too expensive now. It's just unreasonable especially when Pizza Hut has shifted more towards ordering and that extra price on already absurd prices is just not worth it in the slightest. Feels like the quality is whatever for them, their WingStreet collab is probably the best (tasting) part of Pizza Huts at this point, and that's just the Dominoes playbook. And Dominoes is another story, straight up kids lunch pizza lol.

Popeyes has severely reduced in quality. Near me multiple joints just taste like dog ass, I kept trying a few times but it's just gotten to the point that it's no longer worth it even for shitty fast food. Price increases don't help, but really it's just the employees don't care, and the ingredients and barely even quality anymore.

On a massive scale we've already been ripped off by fast food/restaurant prices for over a decade. People probably exacerbated their wallet issues by ordering online all the fucking time, and now that the economy is taking another COVID tier shit and we haven't gotten actual nation wide wage increases in forever, no one is prepared for this shit. It's the slow death of America that's been happening in plain sight, and every time there's some sort of disaster the economy can't hold itself together because we're technically already deep in the shit. Top American companies are the only things holding us afloat, but in reality none of their money or services alleviate the issues happening to the common people. And all of the government grows more and more incompetent and focused on their own personal financial benefits.

RAM prices increased because of micron et al reallocating capacity for enterprise customers (datacenters, cloud, all upstream of "AI")
Basically the prices won't come down again unless available capacity for consumers rises relative to demand. Only way that happens is if making consumer RAM becomes more profitable than making enterprise RAM which seems unlikely. Either the demand for enterprise RAM would have to collapse (tech bubble popping) or lag behind supply such that it's oversaturated (unlikely since the entire industry is perpetually hardware-limited)

That's where people have been turning to. They're equally as expensive in some places, though generally slightly more affordable. You would assume better quality, but I'm in some shit hole Italian immigrant town surrounded by like 30 Italian and Chinese restaurants and only maybe three joints serve a good pizza, and only one of them is really fucking good all the time, the other two are inconsistent I guess since they probably change out cooks. At least the really good place is the most affordable.

NTA but in much of the country all they have are chain pizzerias. It's truly dire, they think Papa John's and Pizza Hut are what pizza is. In the greater NYC area meanwhile there's a random italian guy's pizzeria on every corner, standards are high and the prices are kept low because they're all competing so hard. In a sense they are immigrant pizzerias, just 2-3 generations removed from the actual immigrants who came 100+ years ago. You'll even find clusters of them in Florida because of Italian immigrants to NY having their descendants migrate once again, but between states instead of countries

> I have no idea how people who make a quarter of what we do even survive.
Just some tips from a cheap ass Jew, in case you aren't aware of them. Meat, you can buy it by the bundle directly from butchers and it works out to way cheaper, if you buy it closer to the expiry date it's also cheaper, just freeze it right away so it doesn't matter. You have to have a big freezer to buy half a cow, but it works out in the long run. Flyers are great, every store has them and you should be shopping them exclusively. Bulk sections are where it's at. Dollar stores are excellent for pretty much everything as long as you don't care that it's not brand name hot sauce. Oatmeal is your friend. Soups, pastas and rice are a staple and you can nutritionally enrich them with cheap additives. I'm not saying inflation isn't a problem and that greed isn't killing us all slowly, just letting you know some ways to save money on groceries if you haven't found them yet.

>>
>>738818503
It's a culture shock to anyone who isn't a zoomer as well. It wasn't like this merely 6 years ago, nobody got anything delivered besides pizza and takeout was usually just fast food or chinese. COVID changed everything. Nobody cares about saving a little money on food because there's nothing to save for. We all know now that if and when SHTF again prices and shortages are going ballistic again anyway, so might as well spend now. This is why gambling is booming too, nobody gives a shit if they have money in the long-term future because there is no long-term future for our money, it's all getting inflated away regardless

Yep, eat less exercise more. It's 100% effective. Scientifically proven. It really just starts with walking once a day, it's more to get you into the habit of getting your ass off the couch. After that it flows pretty naturally to being more mobile and active in general, but you have to walk before you can run. I believe in you anon. Start with a 20 minute walk every day, next you'll be doing it for 2 hours, after that you'll be walking up and down stairs, walking around town, you might even take it to the next level and get a personal trainer at a gym who can help you with nutrition. Godspeed.

The real 'issue' is that the population is so large that even if many, many people are doing well, others are doing very, very poorly. Which again, is true of ever part of the world, it just scales with overall population.

Most economists hate this administration, they'd be talking about it nonstop it there was one regardless of anything the fed does. Your desires do not equal reality.
>>
>>738822564
Nothing is happening. You just want it to be happening so you can live out your larp fantasies, when in reality you'll be the first to die whenever anythiing bad happens.

>>738822530
>wage increases don't match official inflation rate
>inflation rate doesn't reflect reality of the value of the dollar
>cost of living rapidly outpaced wages, and just keeps going up
Sure, when you make the rules and say what the rate of inflation is, you can make it all look fine on paper. The actual citizens have to live in reality.

nobody said nothing is happening, they said it's wildly exaggerated
which is objectively true, I'll start sweating over the cost of groceries when rice or potatoes cost more than $0.62/lb
in the meantime I'll gladly laugh at the tards who think they're too good to eat beans or lentils instead of a steak
>>
>>738822886
Ok. Explain it then, as I either misunderstand what it means, or its a nonsense official government stance based on irrelevant numbers they make up.
Please, explain both what it is, and why it matters.
>>
>>738822819
If inflation outpacing wages is enough to be in recession then we've been in one for at least five years.

Never said everything is fine, clearly its not, but to say this falls entirely on the orange man's feet is disingenous. The 6 trillion dollar 2021 save america act over coof is what this ball rolling.
But you don't care you just wanna REEEEEEEEE about trump, no worries tho, I'm sure the communist blue people will fix it.

I don't rely on statistics I just live in the US where everyone is buying stupid shit constantly with all the money they have.
I'm literally noticing while you're trying to throw politics at me.

That is, indeed, the direction this have been going for a while. Non-essential spending is down because people can't afford the rapidly increasing cost of entertainment relative to their available wealth. Profits are up because costs have been passed on and multiplied to the consumer at every level, which has restricted discretionary spending.
>>
>>738823021
Recession is a period of declining economic activity on multiple fronts. You're solely considering price increases without looking at anything else. Price increases could eventually be the trigger for an actual recession, but that so part hasn't happened yet.

You're right Anon, all those video games sales in the US are fake as well as all the other stuff being bought by people living here.

The (real) value of the dollar has dramatically decreased. The actual, purchase power has fallen far below what official inflation rates suggest. The economy HAS declined, despite reporting record profits, because its all paper increases.
ID sales are up in my district ~1-2%, but revenue is up 10-20%. Wage spending is also down. This looks good on paper, but not when you consider that the adult population is up more than the 1-2% here, and that we've had multiple stores in the area shut down recently, we should be seeing a larger ID sale increase that just isn't happening. I work retail. This is all anecdotal and specific to my area, but this isn't an isolated trend.

Check back with us after the mid term elections in November, but even that's not a lock because the republicans have rigged things to the point they can just openly declare they don't give a shit about the average America's financial struggles and we need to free up a billion dollars to build the epstien ballroom.
Either way there's going to be a massive consumer debt crisis because people still need food and gas to live, and the price gouging is 100% intentional since White House's economic adviser has publicly said credit card spending is through the roof and credit card companies and banks are ecstatic over that.
