You guys told me these games were good... why did you lie to me?
>>
>>738816609
They are good when you get into a hard battle and have to be good at both managing chips and playing an action game to win. They're not good when someone yells "THIS EPISODE MEGAMAN.PDF HAS TO RUN THROUGH INTERNET ROAD 3!"
>>
>>738816609
they are good, you're just a dumbhole.
>>
idk starforce 2 is pretty good
>>
>>738816609
1 sucks
2 and 3 are great and if you get filtered unironically you're a zoomer or too dumb
4 and 5 suck
6 is good
>>
>>738816609
Sorry only 5 is good, but only the DS version on emulator with speed up a cheats for zeni, bugfrags and to get all the chips

>>
>>738820306
Very Close To Paradise didn't excite me in the way MMBN games often do. Part of it is just that I don't like roguelikes. It misses out on the deckbuilding part that's fun because it means you're deciding very specifically which moves you want in an attempt to make a good folder. It has the battling on a grid thing I liked, but it's not exactly royalty free MMBN.
>>
>>738817912
Which is the one where 90% of the game's plot is a worldwide tournament and then when its over there's like one boss battle and the game's story ends? 4?

5 is the one where you do repetitive missions for your team

>>
>>738820306
It was fast and fun but the structure of the game makes it get old fast, I only like roguelikes if
>Each "level" introduces new and unique challenges that can be planned for
>There are large amounts of items, events, bosses in the pool of things that can happen
>Runs are less than an hour
>There's a proper skill ceiling, and rewards for playing well
this accomplishes some of these things, it feels like I'm fishing for decks that play themselves on repeat
>>
>>738816609
They have a cool combat system but they all have at least one segment that's extremely contrived-tier worth of filler
>>
I didn't tell you shit.
>>
>>738816609

They're a little dated. I think 2 is good and 3 is great but I think 5 and 6 are when we just get full QoL and they just feel better to play.

I tried to start at the beginning but I dropped BN1 around Elec Man

I had a vision for MMBN7 once
>Lan's son Patch is a bully at school because his dad is a big shot and they're rich so he treats others poorly.
>Realizes he's lonely. Even young teacher Cial or classmates Ciel depended which version, saw him having issues
>Asks dad for his custom Navi.
>Lan punishes Patch by giving X and Vile to his soon to be rival.
>Patch gets depressed, feels betrayed etc.
>Lan gives him Zero.exe instead. A virus turned navi in a reformatting experiment to try and solve the virus issues.
>Patch and Zero.exe are both treated with mistrust. Other navis don't trust Zero because he was a virus.
>Slowly learn to redeem themselves and save the world.

You had a vision for MMBN7? I had one for SF4.
>geo chases kazuma at beginning, who works with a wizard named dos to turn wizards into navis ala clockman to wreak havoc
>he tries to get deeper into kazuma's case, but gets inexplicably suspended from operations
>he ends up as a wanted criminal after cracking his hunter vg to keep tracking kazuma, being blamed for what kazuma does
>kazuma takes him in and acts as his operator
>turns out he was trying to stop his father heiichi hikari from using the force satellite to host soulnet 2.0
>after some exploits, geo gets caught and ends up jailed in the force satellite server where he finds pat and others who were turned into waves and caught
>at the end, dos is revealed to be duo when not fused with the force satelite's core, which ended up in earth orbit after the fight with the blackhole server
>heiichi hikari had made an artificial em being called trois to fuse with the satellite's core and prevent another cataclysm war through control of every single soul on earth and beyond
>trois fuses with the satellite core to become trio, who subsequently goes batshit insane and becomes the final boss
>cue battle network 4 ending
>postgame is about the reemergence of the mu metal within starforce megaman and the return of quint, the fused form of megaman.exe, lan, protoman.exe, bass, and antilla p(sakugane), who was flung to the other side of the galaxy after fighting against sirius alongside duo

Same, though I replayed it recently and yeah it's pretty rough. It has a solid concept but there's ultimately too much rng involved in winning fights, and the fact that you can just infinitely retry when you lose a fight makes me think the devs knew it was a crapshoot and added the retry as a band-aid solution.

Not really, the only thing I was off about was the shop. There's still no grinding, no chip selection menu, no trading or pvp, the grid is too big, and the graphics are the run of the mill ugly pixel art done by people who don't know how to make decent sprites.

Even ignoring the fact that it's a roguelike and you can't actually build your deck the deck building in this game is shit. Because it has the infinite reshuffle mechanic, no minimum deck size, and you can upgrade individual cards multiple times you're incentivized to make a tiny deck and play the same few cards over and over. The reshuffle talking slightly longer each time is barely an issue. Frankly a lot of cards aren't worth adding since the mana it costs to cast them delays your reshuffle for little gain. Flow is pretty much the only deck that's okay with picking a up a bunch of random cards that say flow on them.
MMBN makes you actually build a full deck. Since you always start with 30 chips you can't just play the same combo every fight so you need to actually fill out the rest of your deck too.
>>
>>738833936
That witch is tranny code...
>>
>>738833752
I can see why it'd be a deal breaker. It doesn't look like much but you're increasing the size by about more than 2/3 for a single player. If it were like a 2v2 or something then a 4x4 grid would be good.
>>
>>738816609

It not being round based completely changes the flow of combat, instead of carefully choosing chips and planning an order to deal with the enemies, you just get random stuff on cooldowns to spam.

In the GBA originals, you only play as navis in the liberation missions and the final dungeon. Dying in a liberation mission just stuns you for a bit and dying in the final dungeon is a game over. You also use your chip folder in both cases, so if your folder sucks then it's on you (best to make a second folder just for liberation missions). What did suck, though, that they did not inherit your navicust bonuses, so their buster always sucked and they were stuck at 5 chips

>>738839109
I think 2 is the best for overall vibe but 3 has more refined gameplay and a better postgame. I wish 5's liberation missions carried over into 6

I just checked it out once for a bit. Don't know how easy it is to make a server. It looks like the character sprites are saved as a single file spritesheets though. Currently there are servers that are zero pop most of the time. Mostly just fun to see what kind of stuff people make. Most of the chips you can get are buggy. I got a stepcross chip that instantly wins battles for some reason.
>>
Theoretically if I made a game with the exact same battle system as BN but with new assets, am I liable to be sued?
