You guys told me these games were good... why did you lie to me?
>>738816609They are good when you get into a hard battle and have to be good at both managing chips and playing an action game to win. They're not good when someone yells "THIS EPISODE MEGAMAN.PDF HAS TO RUN THROUGH INTERNET ROAD 3!"
>>738816609they are good, you're just a dumbhole.
idk starforce 2 is pretty good
>>7388166091 sucks2 and 3 are great and if you get filtered unironically you're a zoomer or too dumb4 and 5 suck6 is good
>>738816609Sorry only 5 is good, but only the DS version on emulator with speed up a cheats for zeni, bugfrags and to get all the chips
>>7388179124 is great you suck
>>738816609They are good, you're just a faggot
>>738817912>5 suckyou were the one that filtered lol
>>738816609What didn't you like about them?
>>738818020>>738818341Losers
I admittedly filtered myself out of the Battle Netork series for a bit because this shit was actually my first game.
>>738816609We didn't, you just have shit taste.
I fucking loved NT Warrior but I never played these games
>>738817131If only there was a game that took all the epic battles of the network and cut off the filler...
>>738820289Yeah, they looked like boring SRPGs so I never bothered with them until I saw a Roahm Mythril video of the gameplay.
This was my favorite GBA series so OP is an utter fag.
>>738820306>rougelike
>>738820306>rogueslop
>>738820446Better to be lucky than to grind for days on end.
>>738816609I like 6, I wish it wasn't braindead easy. Shanghai is great. Everything else? Meh.
>>738820446>>738820474Good, stay mad.
>>738820306>What if we removed everything that gives the gameplay purposeRetard.
>>738820306I like OSFE and it's really nothing like MMBN.
>>738820619Does gameplay really need purpose?
>>738820564>shanghai coming to the rescue>all the shitty bn clones are the demonsfitting
>>738820306Very Close To Paradise didn't excite me in the way MMBN games often do. Part of it is just that I don't like roguelikes. It misses out on the deckbuilding part that's fun because it means you're deciding very specifically which moves you want in an attempt to make a good folder. It has the battling on a grid thing I liked, but it's not exactly royalty free MMBN.
>>738817912Which is the one where 90% of the game's plot is a worldwide tournament and then when its over there's like one boss battle and the game's story ends? 4?
>>738821106Yup, 45 is the one where you do repetitive missions for your team
ITT: Biggest disappointments in gaming
>>738821367That ain't Thunder Soul.
>>738820306It was fast and fun but the structure of the game makes it get old fast, I only like roguelikes if >Each "level" introduces new and unique challenges that can be planned for>There are large amounts of items, events, bosses in the pool of things that can happen>Runs are less than an hour>There's a proper skill ceiling, and rewards for playing well this accomplishes some of these things, it feels like I'm fishing for decks that play themselves on repeat
>>738816609They have a cool combat system but they all have at least one segment that's extremely contrived-tier worth of filler
I didn't tell you shit.
>>738816609They're a little dated. I think 2 is good and 3 is great but I think 5 and 6 are when we just get full QoL and they just feel better to play. I tried to start at the beginning but I dropped BN1 around Elec Man
Boyslop thread?
>>738822386If you insist.
I had a vision for MMBN7 once>Lan's son Patch is a bully at school because his dad is a big shot and they're rich so he treats others poorly.>Realizes he's lonely. Even young teacher Cial or classmates Ciel depended which version, saw him having issues>Asks dad for his custom Navi.>Lan punishes Patch by giving X and Vile to his soon to be rival.>Patch gets depressed, feels betrayed etc.>Lan gives him Zero.exe instead. A virus turned navi in a reformatting experiment to try and solve the virus issues.>Patch and Zero.exe are both treated with mistrust. Other navis don't trust Zero because he was a virus.>Slowly learn to redeem themselves and save the world.>Megaman Battle Network Z (the 7 is inside the Z in the logo)

>>738822885You had a vision for MMBN7? I had one for SF4.>geo chases kazuma at beginning, who works with a wizard named dos to turn wizards into navis ala clockman to wreak havoc>he tries to get deeper into kazuma's case, but gets inexplicably suspended from operations>he ends up as a wanted criminal after cracking his hunter vg to keep tracking kazuma, being blamed for what kazuma does>kazuma takes him in and acts as his operator>turns out he was trying to stop his father heiichi hikari from using the force satellite to host soulnet 2.0>after some exploits, geo gets caught and ends up jailed in the force satellite server where he finds pat and others who were turned into waves and caught>at the end, dos is revealed to be duo when not fused with the force satelite's core, which ended up in earth orbit after the fight with the blackhole server>heiichi hikari had made an artificial em being called trois to fuse with the satellite's core and prevent another cataclysm war through control of every single soul on earth and beyond>trois fuses with the satellite core to become trio, who subsequently goes batshit insane and becomes the final boss>cue battle network 4 ending>postgame is about the reemergence of the mu metal within starforce megaman and the return of quint, the fused form of megaman.exe, lan, protoman.exe, bass, and antilla p(sakugane), who was flung to the other side of the galaxy after fighting against sirius alongside duo
>>738822885>>738823291trash
>>738820306Legitimately it's too fast at points and everything being a self-contained repetitive run is shitty.
>>738822386boys...
>>7388180204 made me drop the entire series after 100% completing 1 and 3 and doing everything but hard mode in 2 because I don't care about Sanctuary
>>738820306>grid too big>graphics look like shit>no chip selection, just spam abilities on cooldown>no shops>no grinding for S ranks to get better chips>no trading>no pvp>If only there was a game that took all the epic battles of the network and cut off the filler...Yeah if only there were a game like that. What you posted is just Slay the Spire as an ARPG.
>>7388179121 is okay2 is great3 sucks4 is good5 is okay6 is great
>>738827772Just stop
>>738827980No.3 unironically gets less fun every time I play it.
>>738820306You know the progression and filler is part of what makes it good, right?BN would be shit if you started at end-game.
>>738816609I only played 2 because a few others were meh. 2 was fun.
Did no one else play the 1v1 tournament game? I don't even remember its name...
>>738828854Battle Chip Challenge? I think everyone who played it hates it.
>>738828916damn, I loved it as a child
>>738828854It was both ahead of and before its timeIt's basically an idle game and almost nobody wanted that at the time.
>>738828985Same, though I replayed it recently and yeah it's pretty rough. It has a solid concept but there's ultimately too much rng involved in winning fights, and the fact that you can just infinitely retry when you lose a fight makes me think the devs knew it was a crapshoot and added the retry as a band-aid solution.
>>738823291>>738822885Kino
>>738829817Weird way of spelling cringe.
>>738820306It's not filler. Exploring the world, collecting cards, and building your own deck around a strategy are what make the battles rewarding.Roguelite progression is just a way to cheap out.
>>738829886Your post seem bait
>>738830214You must've loved the Freezeman scenario.
>>738830214>It's not filler.I dunno, anon. I'm playing through BN2 right now and it's forcing me to constantly backtrack between the Undernet and Netopia on a bunch of shitty fetch quests. Feels A LOT like filler to me.
>>738827714>no shopsExcuse me?
>>738831784I only skimmed through a 10 minute gameplay video on YouTube, it looked like slop and I didn't notice any sort of currency.
>>738820306OSFE scratches the itch for more BN games the same way eating plain slices of lunchmeat satisfies a craving for a tasty sandwich, which is to say it doesn’t, at all.>inb4 complaining about food CHADalogy
Looking for someone with GunDelEX and Otenko to compare Library twice on BN6 on switch, alternatively some pvp matches so I can collect crossover points.
>>738831212Your posts seem ESL
Mayl
>>738831919You're just as misinformed as the anon who thought battlenet was a turn based tactical RPG.
>>738832737Not really, the only thing I was off about was the shop. There's still no grinding, no chip selection menu, no trading or pvp, the grid is too big, and the graphics are the run of the mill ugly pixel art done by people who don't know how to make decent sprites.
>>738832114Your post is ESL
>>738832952I can agree with many of your points, but:>no grindingThat is a plus.>no pvpThere's local PvP, and a PvP-focused spinoff exists.
I unironically got lost in 2 and never touched the series again
>>738832952>>738833303But there is grinding THOUGH. You grind runs for metaprogression bullshit.
>>738818825Wouldn't mind a remaster of this game that balances the difficulty.
>>738816609Possession?
>>7388166091 2 3 4 all suck battle network fags lied 5 is good6 is good Also post mayl
>>738827714>>738832952>>738833303Is a 4x4 grid really that much of a dealbreaker?
>>738833752>>738827119
>>738820306Even ignoring the fact that it's a roguelike and you can't actually build your deck the deck building in this game is shit. Because it has the infinite reshuffle mechanic, no minimum deck size, and you can upgrade individual cards multiple times you're incentivized to make a tiny deck and play the same few cards over and over. The reshuffle talking slightly longer each time is barely an issue. Frankly a lot of cards aren't worth adding since the mana it costs to cast them delays your reshuffle for little gain. Flow is pretty much the only deck that's okay with picking a up a bunch of random cards that say flow on them.MMBN makes you actually build a full deck. Since you always start with 30 chips you can't just play the same combo every fight so you need to actually fill out the rest of your deck too.
>>738833936That witch is tranny code...
>>738833752I can see why it'd be a deal breaker. It doesn't look like much but you're increasing the size by about more than 2/3 for a single player. If it were like a 2v2 or something then a 4x4 grid would be good.
>>738816609Not our fault that you're a dumbfuck cocksucker with terrible taste.
>>738820306Fucking Lego is a better BN clone than that shit
>>738820306>not round based>card order is random and shufflesno it's missing 2 fundamental aspects of what makes bn's combat insanely addicting.
>>738836070>not round basedSeriously, that’s a problem in your eyes?>card order is random and shufflesIsn’t it the same in BN?
>>7388337523x3 works good for the chips and powers battle network hasone step for eden just couldn't balance the game around a 4x4 grid, not much to it
>>738820306>If only...Nohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX_cAHlq5JU
>>738837124It not being round based completely changes the flow of combat, instead of carefully choosing chips and planning an order to deal with the enemies, you just get random stuff on cooldowns to spam.
maybe I'm just old but I have no issue with backtracking, the world is tiny
>>738820619>progression is gameplayNTA and the game he posted looks shit but you are retarded
>>738818020You need to try harder.
>>738821367I'd do it all over again. 6 makes little to no sense if you play Protoman.
3 is a masterpiece nothing ever topped it5 is a hit or miss. I can see why some people really like it because of the uniqueness of it but FUCK playing as other navis with their shit chip folder and if I remember correctly once you die as them its game over.6 is alright
>>738827772>>738817912>>738816609these games are all literally identical, what's the point of ranking them
>>738839241Same reason why people bother ranking the classic Mega Man games.
>>738820306Absolute dogshit that misses the entire point.
>>738821367>objectWhat were they thinking?>>738839109>5In the GBA originals, you only play as navis in the liberation missions and the final dungeon. Dying in a liberation mission just stuns you for a bit and dying in the final dungeon is a game over. You also use your chip folder in both cases, so if your folder sucks then it's on you (best to make a second folder just for liberation missions). What did suck, though, that they did not inherit your navicust bonuses, so their buster always sucked and they were stuck at 5 chips>>738839109I think 2 is the best for overall vibe but 3 has more refined gameplay and a better postgame. I wish 5's liberation missions carried over into 6
>>738816609I feel like I'm in a timeloop where this exact fucking thread keeps happening
>>738839575Is this OpenBN? How easy is it to modify?
>>738840497I just checked it out once for a bit. Don't know how easy it is to make a server. It looks like the character sprites are saved as a single file spritesheets though. Currently there are servers that are zero pop most of the time. Mostly just fun to see what kind of stuff people make. Most of the chips you can get are buggy. I got a stepcross chip that instantly wins battles for some reason.
Theoretically if I made a game with the exact same battle system as BN but with new assets, am I liable to be sued?
