fascinating

adventures was amazing and should have had a proper sequel where other planets got fractured and needed to be unified. the whole concept hasn't been explored since. the combat, exploration, and dialogue were all memorable beyond belief. people hating this game are a byproduct of bandwagon mentality.

People hate it because it wasn't supposed to be a Star Fox game

I liked it as a kid

this game is 80% the reason why nintendo absolutely refuses to move the story forward

I don't hate it but its a weak Zelda clone. Since it didn't do amazing numbers and had a somewhat divisive autistic hate following, Nintendo won't revisit and improve on what didn't work. Which sucks when people here constantly say they're innovative and better than most other franchise holders.

Dinosaur Planet is a superior game and it's not even complete.

I always liked it.

Anyone who actually played any of the prototype knows that's fucking bullshit. Most of DP's levels were literally just smaller versions of the ones in SFA, and the entire plot was basically going to be the same shit anyway (except you played as not-Krystal a little bit more before she's fridged).

They could have just agreed with him and kept making the game.

>and the entire plot was basically going to be the same shit anyway (except you played as not-Krystal a little bit more before she's fridged).
Every time.
>Krystal reduced to the prologue instead of half the game alongside Sabre, pic related is more or less all her parts cut out along with some of Sabre's
>Kyte was reduced to a small cameo and you wouldn't even know it was her, she got fucked over the hardest because her mother and siblings survived, the irony given her mother was killed in the original story
>Sabre cut completely, Randorn cut completely
>General Scales didn't get his intended fight due to the retool, then lost a second chance at a fight due to the buyout (Yes I know he was a pawn but you still would have fought him)
>Drakor, the main villain, was made into Scales' and Andross' lackey, no lines or dialogue, his entire backstory with the Kamerian Heart and Krazoa war scrubbed
>Krazoa were the real villains in the story, Quan Ata Lachu plot and actual Krazoa Palace was cut
>75% of Cape Claw was cut, Krystal's areas were cut, The SwapStone's brother was cut, actual spells were cut, etc.
>All the stuff that was unexplained in SFA (one example being the Sharpclaw having all that tech despite being tribal like the other groups was Drakor supplying them with it to take over the planet) or felt off was fully addressed or more coherent in DP
They could have just said 'no' and kept working on DP and release it by December 2000. That game and Banjo-Tooie would have closed out that year perfectly.

I dunno why this keeps getting removed, but this is the big one, he was just a boss with no fanfare in SFA.

Miyamoto still lost.
Because most people that don't care about Star Fox,
would be more interested in Dinosaur Planet for being a lost thing at some point.
And way more interesting looking than Adventures,
it looks almost like a PS1 game, more than an N64 game.

No. Nothing can redeem the fact that Dinosaur Planet is kind of amazing, and Star Fox Adventures is Nintendo bullshit. Nintendo are a soulless company with absolutely no sauce. They took The Dark Crystal meets Babylon 5 and said, "Well, imagine if this sucked and was lame like a Nintendo game?"
>>

oh, right, because everyone can remember anything besides pepper yelling at you while 64 gets quote threads weekly.

Game's okay but I'm a little annoyed that the first thing I thought of when reading "redeemed" was "the card."
>>
>>738833914
Dinosaur Planet has a very sinister vibe to it. It has notable parallels to Perfect Dark. Kystal is Joanna. Randorn is Carrington. But in this case Randorn is a fox wizard who went bug-nuts crazy because of the war, and genocided most of Krystal's species before having a "is genocide bad?" epiphany. All of his scenes were cut. They cut everything. The final game's plot is forgettable nonsense.

Don't forget that Drakor is why the SharpClaw and General Scales have all that technology. The intro seemed fitting enough for a fantasy setting and then you see all the tech that the SharpClaw have and then the Force Point Temples lean into a mix of magic and tech with the SpellStones being actual batteries to power the temples. Then Scales kills Kyte's mother with a technological weapon right after she namedrops Drakor. All the buildup really shows you how ambitious DP was going to be. The dino language in SFA was even a plot point for finding the Krazoa Palace.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jsIRCTWN3U
This track sums up the entire story up to that point - shit is about to go down.
>>
>>738834048
>Kystal is Joanna. Randorn is Carrington.
Drakor is Mr. Blonde.
General Scales is Trent Easton.
The parallels go very, very deep. Originally, the plan for Perfect Dark was that it would be revealed in PD: Vengeance that the Maians and Elvis were nowhere near as benevolent as they made themselves out to be. That they were in fact genocidal assholes, and humanity was just a pawn in their long standing feud against the Skedar.

>People are mentioning Dinosaur Planet/Perfect Dark parallels
>inb4 Krystal is just Joanna's fursona and Dinosaur Planet is a story she made up based on her life
>>
>>738822840
If it was a Zelda it would barely be behind OOT, MM and WW for most interesting/fun Zeldas
>>
>>738834462
There was also a sequence that is partially present in voice acting but not in the game itself where Krystal uses a machine in the temple and goes back in time, and learns the truth about the war. The temple is in the game files, but it's completely empty. The final period of development was chaotic, and the build we have is incomplete and partially overwritten with prelim Star Fox changes. But there's a very interesting game hiding in the cruft, and I kinda wish an actual team were tackling this rather than a loose assortment of gay furries who are making slow, slow progress.
>>
>>738833105
>Miyamoto still lost.
>Because most people that don't care about Star Fox,

That's why he won. He got Rare to sacrifice a whole IP for his goldenboy all so that Rare wouldn't have a Zelda. He sacrificed his lesser to save his Zerda and in the end it was the right thing to do because Starfox would go on to not sell jack shit after this. Retarded dino adventures are apparently only cool when Link does it.

>it looks almost like a PS1 game, more than an N64 game.
More like a ps2 game because it had the largest cartridge available, was developed with more effort than Nintendo could ever bother with, went past stock n64 graphics and ultimately was made into even less of a game on Gamecube than the n64 one. On paper it's basically the only title that serves to prove Nintendo's retarded (and wrong) idea that smaller "higher quality" games were intended with mini disc and totally not he fact they didn't just use them to avoid royalties to sony.

>>738833295
>Do nintendofags really believe he wanted an adventure game when he would go on to beg Namco to make assault one of the "coolest starfox railshooters" before Rare even left Nintendo for good and released Adventures?
>>
I can imagine Nintendo's audience freaking out when Krystal is like, "Listen, I never knew my real parents. (Who you brutally murdered.) You're my dad." Or her PROBLEMATIC relationship with her cross species sibling Sabre.

Mechanically, Star Fox Adventures is much more refined than Dinosaur Planet. But they really did fuck the game sideways tonally. The vision DP had was really good. It's like watching a movie and you can tell where all the shitty reshoots were added.

Yeah, the sequence with the temple as well as the original palace got cut completely, which is why I always scoff at the people saying DP was the same game. Back in 2012 when it got revealed, only the beginning was shown IE Krystal's segment in SFA. Granted, the amount of bugs and glitches kept that one player from getting far, but the more you watch DP's playthrough, the more you see how different it was and how much got cut. >>738830624

Look at what they're doing now with Star Fox, another retread of 64, which was a retread of the SNES game. Adventures was a massive mistake across the board, it cost MORE money to change the game than to leave it as is, even if it would have sold less.
