Is it worth playing?

Do you like weird sci fi like Fringe? If the answers yes then you probably will. I personally loved it but I will say back tracking through the map can be a pain in the ass sometimes
>>
>>738829045
My thoughts too. I liked it a lot
>>
>>738828879
The gameplay is unironically the worst part. Great for world building and exploration though if you're into the kind of shit its about.
>>
Isn't this game part of a greater Alan Wake universe or something? Do you need to play one to GET the other? Are there hints about the relationship?
>>
yeah

>>738828939
bro has hangups
>>
>>738829045
Is this show any good or is it thing of the week cringe slop?
>>
The combat is jank but the story and world building are pretty good. Worth if you can get it cheap
>>
>>738829179
Yeah it is, it's not mandatory for Alan Wake 2 but I had completed control before it so a lot of the stuff didn't come us a surprise. I'd suggest that if you want to play AW2 as a mystery game, play it first. Friend of mine played AW2 first and was equally happy as he had many revelations during control

>>738828879
If you like scp creepy pasta tier of writing, you might like it. Otherwise, gameplay and characters are meh.
>>
>>738828879
Brutalist architecture, SCP type stuff, fun run-n-gun shooting with lots of destruction. Its great, part of my 3x3
>>
>>738829179
As far as I remember yes, no, and yes in one of the DLC. Also this game has some of the best DLC out there, at least by modern standards.
>>
>>738829219
Starts good, becomes slop, like most promising shows.
>>
>>738828879
yea if you like shitty games
>>
>>738829179
It is, but not in any truly meaningful way. Mostly in ways that devalue Alan Wake's world building. For Control it adds if you like Alan Wake, insignificant if you don't.
Like they'll discuss a poet that is also a character in Alan Wake, but if you don't know the character from Alan Wake the point of that discussion still gets across anyway. It's not too overbearing.
You could start either with Alan Wake or Control in whichever order, or you could exclusively play Control or exclusively play Alan Wake 1 and not feel like you're missing anything.
Alan Wake 2 specifically I do feel like you're missing a larger slice of the pie by not playing Control, which is a shame, but Alan Wake 1 and Control are completely standalone, and it feels like Control Resonant will be as well.
>>
>>738828879
It's okay. The ending is dogshit as per usual with remedy games.

>>738829179
>Do you need to play one to GET the other?
As far as AW1 and Control goes, no (except for the DLC, see below). If you want to play AW2 then probably.
>Are there hints about the relationship?
There's literally an AW themed DLC for Control, which isn't very good. As far as I understand, the DLC is there to set up AW2. I dunno I haven't actually played AW2. Bottom line is AW1 and Control (without the AW themed DLC) are not connected in a meaningful way, there may have been some references here and there but you won't feel lost.

What if ive played Control but not Alan Wake 1 will i enjoy AW2? I bought Alan Wake cheap on Steam a while back but never really got into it. I really like Remedy Entertainments games Control and Quantum Break were awesome so i do wanna play AW2 eventually but not sure how much ill be lost without finishing the first game
>>
>>738829932
A lot of people did just that so I think you'll probably be fine. I like Alan Wake much more than Quantum Break and Alan Wake 2, personally, so I'd say give it another shot. Use the dev launch command to unlock all difficulties and play on the highest one, that could help.

>story .. pretty good
fuck off, fucking play the fucking game. For quite few chapters "brother" does not exist, he's fucking dead, died long time ago and Jesse is being delusional and not in control. She was supposed to be
>the only child
quote from the game, from the very beginning. But then they coped out and still added alive "brother" who had nothing to do with Bureau. Yet Jesse somehow fought for control of Bureau with that guy, who wasn't in control in the first place. He just so happened to go and take over juuust before Jesse arrived at the sector where he was contained before, very convenient, not a later rewrite.

The combat is probably the weakest part about it, but the lore and setting are very fun. Cool take on cosmic horror and SCP bullshit, though I think the side quests are more interesting than the actual main plot.
>>
>>738831441
she was scanned in just before post 30 wallbogging
>>
>>738828879
Strictly speaking about gameplay: no. Boring waste of time game.
>>
The combat quickly gets stale and nothing is even close to the powerlevel of rock throwing.
I still really enjoyed it.
I beat the basegame. Most of the extra missions and the alan wake dlc. But then I got bored when I started the other Dlc and never finished it.
>>
>>738828879
It's great if you can get past the obnoxious amount of encounters. Like the combat is pretty fun in a vacuum and enemy variety is decent enough or rather would be if you only did scripted flights.
But Remedy seems to think much more highly and has big generated fights spawn in literally every couple of minutes. And enemies are very annoying, very spongy, and very plentiful.
