I didn't play much of any shooters growing up. I recently played all of the Bungie-Halo and Half-Life games, and I thought they were a lot of fun. What other single-player shooters should I try? Preferably 3D, as Doomlikes are pretty different/kinda their own thing imo.I've been thinking of doing the Quake trilogy next, since I always really liked the feel of Source/Goldsrc (yes Quake 3 is multiplayer, but eh it still has a couple missions vs CPUs, so I'm counting it).
>>738831413if you don't have an original xbox available riddick director's cut on pc. Not dark athena/remake.
If you like slower, story driven fps games like Halo and Half Life then some other fps games from the 00s you might like are:FEARReturn to Castle WolfensteinBioshock 1Singularity (If you liked Bioshock)STALKER
>>738831413BioShock, Doom 4 and Left 4 Dead 2 are good picks.
>>738831413If you like Quake, you'll like Doom too (even though it has 2D enemies). Btw Quake 4's campaign is actually pretty good, it's more like a Half-Life/Halo style campaign with Quake weapons and enemies than it resembles Quake 1/2, but it's pretty underrated and fun. Great body horror too.
>>738831413Lots of good stuff here
>>738833576unc, it's time to get some glasses
>>738833576Wrong genre bro
>>738833576>RTS listscarily based even if offtopic, thanks anyways for these lmao
>>738831847>>738832395>>738832582>>738832901Thanks for these, I completely forgot I own Bioshock 1/2 (and og System Shock 1/2) on Steam, so I'll definitely try them out along with the rest of these sometime c:I dunno if it's specifically "slower story-driven fps's" that's the draw for me, though I really appreciated it in Halo and HL of course. I guess mainly it's the leaning towards more "fun" gunplay and movement, as opposed to something like a tactical shooter? Still figuring out my own tastes so sorry if I'm being vague.
>>738831413Call of Juarez GunslingerSpec Ops: The LineWolfenstein New OrderTitanfall 2Far Cry 3 Blood Dragonslightly off genre: MGSVothers mentioned Bioshock, FEAR, and L4D2 which are all good. Trepang2 has good mechanics but the story kinda sucks. going to bed, should have some fun with those OP
>>738831413if you have a ps3 the resistance games a fun fps's
I'm also pretty new to shooters, but realized i have Bulletstorm and Wolfenstein New Order in my library. Are those decent?
>>738834658Bioshock and System Shock are very different games. Bioshock is an fps cool abilities, open ended level design, amazing atmosphere/lore, and a strong narrative. System Shock is a whole different beast and is much more of an "immersive sim". One of the more retarded genre names out there.
>>738831413quake 1/2
>>738833576It's FPSNot RTS you autist
>>738831413>I've been thinking of doing the Quake trilogy next, since I always really liked the feel of Source/Goldsrc (yes Quake 3 is multiplayer, but eh it still has a couple missions vs CPUs, so I'm counting it).Definitely go with Quake and Unreal Tournament. They still play pretty good.
>>738838102Do the UT's have anything to do in singleplayer? How about just plain Unreal 1/2, are those alright?
>>738837154>Wolfenstein New OrderIt's ok. Feels very much like a AAA fps from the 2010s if you know what I mean. The art and machines are cool, though. Unfortunately the sequels have comically bad writing.
>>738831413Quake 4 is good toFEAR is a must. Just play the first and the expansions ("extraction point" and "perseus mandate")Definetly bioshockIf you haven't, play doom 3 too.
>>738838137you just fight against bots, UT is close to half as it is about exploring
>>738833646Going off a bit of a tanget here but I can't stress it enough how much I despise how badly the RTS threads in /v/ went down the shitter when BAR and Zero-K fags began to turn them into their own personal circlejerk spaces
>>738833576Is Battle for Middle-Earth 1 & 2 any good?
>>738831413Metro 2033 and the sequels.
