Is the night lords books the only thing that kept them from being a massive joke
>>
>>738838683
Yes
>>
>>738838725
I can only assume the The Emperor either never saw any of this shit, or Kurze and his legion were at the top of the I'm going to purge these guys after I get all this shit sorted list.
>>
>>738838813
Their whole schtick were terror tactics. They could kill minimal amounts of people and bring worlds into compliance by scaring the shit out of everyone. It was an effective way to take planets. Then you drop a few iron warrior forts.to maintain compliance. Efficient.
>>
>>738839087
Yeah, and the non tardmarchs accomplished the same without making coats out of people. So again, I can only assume the emperor didn't know exactly what they were doing in his name, at least before the rebellion, because it otherwise makes no sense that he would burn Monarchia to teach Lorgar a lesson, but not do the same to Nostromo and it's discount dark eldar.
>>
>>738839087
I only read the first book but I liked how matter of factly the guys were while doing shit to scare people. Except of course the idiot being corrupted by khorne who got too into it

I think its Death Guard that are the most popular, at least from when I last checked, which granted was a while ago
>>
>>738838813
Big E knew, but at the same time he was in a rush mode so to him Konrad and the nightlords becoming even more pychotic was just the price to pay to get the ball rolling, towards the end when the crusade was secure and become a mop up job he started to tell them to tone it down but by that point they were so well gone they were essentially all but AWOL in all but name to the point where the only time contact was established with them after they nuked their homeworld was after they volunteered to take down Horus on Istvaan, shortly followed by them revealing they sided with Horus
>>
>>738840334
I got that death guard box years ago (still has the old logo on it) but never finished painting them. Just doing like 1 took goddamn forever with all the details compared to the 1 dark angels army I’d painted before.
>>
>>738839225
Even GW doesn't have an answer why. In 10 years they will say that "Curze was just a chud o algo"

My opinion is that impy planned heresy to happen in one form or another, but didn't expect for half of the legions to rebel - there were obvious fuck ups like Angron and Curze (and also 2 and 11) which probably wouldn't want to retire and live with the Emperor in his gooncave

>"Hurrdurr we aren't corrupted like other traitor legions! Isn't that right, brother Slaughterius?"
>"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! THESE CHILD ORPHANS AND THEIR ORPHANAGE NEED TO BURN!"
Sure, space marines can be pompous pricks but for a jobber legion whose primarch got killed by a drugged up assassin (the first they even sent by the way) they surely have a high opinion on themselves.

Emprah actually really liked Kurze and the NL due to the speed they brought worlds into compliance, and that was literally the only thing that mattered to him
he sent Gorillaman to assrape Lorgar not because he was was breaking the Imperial Law, but because he was too fucking slow by 100% converting the planets first
>>
>>738843407
With the state the world is in now I think it's pretty reasonable to want at least your fiction to include some hope.

Expanding on the Heresy was a gigantic fuckoff mistake that reduces 40k to its absolute most milquetoast of inter-faction conflicts while ruining everyone in it NOT named Nathaniel Garro, Gavriel Loken, or Jaghatai Khan with an idiot ball superglued to each hand so that the "everyone loses, the imperium is now the gormless nightmare it is in 40k" route can reasonably happen. Even sadder that it only exists because there's somehow a market of autismos who'll only play a historical if it has space marines in it.
>>
>>738839225
Non tardmarchs tended to get stuck in decade long wars and then dealing with insurgencies.

Okay? Why are they coming to warhammer for noblebright? Why is warhammer changed to suit them?
I know the answer to the latter, obviously, but that doesn't make my piss boil any less
>>
>>738842834
The 40k setting has no real impact because nothing is allowed to change and its whole schtick is that its a degenerate era that has long passed its glory days. The Heresy is like the Imperium in its glory days where literal demi gods are walking around and deciding the policy and the whole story is about how good men got corrupted by Chaos little by little while others fight against it. Not to mention that the 40k setting is now being infiltrated by social marxists.

I mean you look at the Word Bearers trilogy where the first book is really interesting because theres a planetary invasion and the building of this demon tower to get a mcguffin from a necron temple that is unearthed by it shattering the planet and then 2 books later its back to the status quo and nothing fucking happened.

Essentially the 40k universe is like a grim episode of Seinfeld. Its a story about nothing.

Even say Abbadons arc in 40k is like "Well after this win im going to slowly crush the Imperium and then go to Terra because im not my Dad.
>>
>>738843407

>>738843634
he only cared about humanity as a whole, not people
he knew he was racing against a clock until the Orks at Ullanor reached critical mass and would start evolving on a logarithmic scale and humanity would not survive that
once that threat was done with he immediately fucked off to play with legos in his basement and just told everyone "yeah you can now do whatever you want k bye"
>>
>>738842445
Night Lords are irredeemable assholes and complete jobbers, but that's why I like them
you never feel bad when half of your veterans die to their own disintegrator rifles overloading, because they definitely deserve it
>>
>>738839225
He didn't really care since Big E was on a tight time schedule with the crusade
>>
>>738843489
Sure, I don't mind escapism while the world crumbles around you cause of war, economic situation or just a complete inability to find employment. But at very least make smth good, you know? Hire better writers that care about the setting or have editors to tard wrangle the shitters.
>>
>>738843854
GW basically doubled down on the Emperor being an evil nigga who wants to be the demiurge too hard.
In 40k it was originally ambiguous if the 'bad' stuff in the Imperium was a tragedy/necessity, but GW instead made it that the Emperor is actually a bad hypocritical guy doing whatever he can to keep power
To the point where everything bad/regressive about humanity can be traced to the Emperor being a PoS
>>
>>738844107
It's REALLY funny how the classic "absolute dictator can't be absolute so even when he's not being evil other people are evil instead" thing doesn't even happen in warhammer anymore because any bad things are actually part of the emperor's keikaku

One of the biggest things I don't like about GW is having literal sub 70 iq retards deciding what and when to put in the lore

Best example of it is making banana women after 20 long series where they have established 99% of the banana men lore

It made me completely uninvested in the new releases (GW will not feel it, since it's playerbase are 1 billion yookay tranniejeets buying 100 boxes of primaris intercessors each every day)
>>
>>738844456
it's just a lore explanation on why they've been seething about space marines for 10k years because they failed their only job.
So it's makes sense that custodes have women in their ranks since they lack any sort of accountability.

I actually think Thousand Sons are the least popular of the main 4. If not them then the Emperor's Children
>>
>>738844173
It's being written by a bunch of morons who literally can't understand the concept of myth and legend and have spent the better part of the decade demystifying much of the setting. Which ironically is a very important part of the setting, knowing that the ancient history is so ancient what is true, what was lost to time, and what became myth is a pretty important part of it all. Not just for the Imperium but for a lot of the other races as well.
>>
>>738841547
Right but that doesnt make it inherently word bearers now does it? Its CSM rules. I won't speak for paint schemes though which might be what you refer to.
>>
>>738846839
Word Bearers will likely be getting their own models and codex supplement in 11th like the Iron Warriors got at the end of 10th
>>
>>738843854
Wouldnt be surprised if he actually planed to mass genocide humanity save for a small fraction which he would bring into the webway, have chaos cool down due to nobody being around in realspace and then come out and create his utopia.
