The game is packed with lots of content and isn't very hard to master. Each character plays mildly differently in concept but you'll basically seek out the same things in term of how to employ them in battle. The narrative is quite nice, maybe even the FF7 of this generation. Although the ending is pretty ass despite literally everything else in the game being great, thankfully not some Mass Effect 3 ass. More like a 10/10(ish) game that ends on a 7/10. I've done most everything in the game my first playthrough save for beating the like beating the DLC super bosses and base game super boss (because it wasn't creatively fun, just meta focused fun). They have a black character in the beginning and he fucking dies by the end of the prologue, then its just whites. That's also a plus.

In all honesty, the game isn't THAT good. It's a solid 7 or 8 out of 10.The reason it stands out is that it's a competently made game with an engaging story and characters in a sea full of trash. The fact that it deservedly won all its awards says more about the industry than about the game.
Loved this game and I love how it mogged the hell out of Methaphor and Rebirth so bad that people are still seething to this day. Both SquareEnix and Atlus have come out recently to admit they got btfo by random baguettes and it's the cherry on top. Hopefully big nose Anita didn't slime her way into Sandfall and ruin their next game.

There is also barely anything worth calling a town, then again narratively it wouldn't work that well.Outside of that I finally found a game I could at least roughly place on the same level as FF7 for me. I listed areas of contention, but outside of that the game pretty much does everything it needs to right for me. Ultimately it's personal.I would say give it a try as just a neat RPG you could try if you have the time, but don't treat it like it's GOAT-tier going in or something because that only ruins your experience. I daresay as long as the battle system works for you, you can probably find enjoyment in it at bare minimum.
