>Its bad because... you need to sometimes look down at a second screen!
Can you not walk and chew gum at the same time?
>>
>>738838579
Game journos who can't get song lyrics have centered discussion of this game around the two screen gimmick. Whether you like it or not, it isn't the deciding factor in whether you think the game is good. It's another retelling of the basic Star Fox 1 storyline that was already retread with Star Fox 64. It keeps the multiple routes choice, but has fewer of them than an N64 game in the same series. The helicopter levels are not worth playing even when a better level comes after. It's not a good game, and that has nothing to do with the gamepad view.
>>
Reviewers didn't like it because of the difficulty and arcade structure and the gamepad was a convenient way for them to launder their opinions into seeming like legit criticism.
>>
>>738838579
It's bad because only the second screen has accurate aiming and the TV is just spectator mode
>>
I'm honestly curious how Nintendo feels internally that they've had two banger consoles in a row while almost completely abandoning control gimmicks, with pretty much all of their titles that tried to do interesting things with the Joy Con flopping.
>>
>>738838579
>Can you not walk and chew gum at the same time?
This has cost people their lives
>>
>>738838579
I could do it, I just didn't find it very fun.
You end up only looking at 1 screen, the two don't add very much.
>>
>>738838579
>Miyamoto injecting his retarded "Simple control" ideas because he keeps trying to get his son that hates video games to play them

Starfox command was also retarded because you had to use the stylus to pilot the plane.

Just give me normal non-gimmicky flight controls.
>>
>>738843063
Ok but stylus controls unironically mogged the dpad in Super Mario 64DS once you got used to them
>>
It just looked boring to me, even with the Wii U staved for games I didn't bother picking it up
>>
>have to play with bad controls for the entire time just to play a worse version of an existing game
>this is bad for some reason??!???

the sudden appearance of zero hipsters is weird, but not surprising.
>>
>>738843471
>sudden
>>
>>738843270
The stylus? No.
The thumbpad? Also no.
>>
>>738843471
>a worse version of an existing game
huh?
It's not a remake, as much as snoys like to pretend it is.
>>
>>738838905
The way they nerfed routes was pretty lame, most of them nixed the idea of completing a side objective during the stage or the main objective in different ways and just boiled down to finding and locking on to a wormhole. Some of them were exclusive to NG+ too.
>>
>>738838579
>Its bad because... you need to sometimes look down at a second screen!
Yes and you need to do it A LOT. What the fuck is the point of playing a game when you can't even see the 90% of what's going on lol?
>>
>>738843663
Why would you be unable to see 90% of what's going on
>>
>>738838579
If you press Minus button it will switch the screens so you don't even need to look at the controller. Yes, it filtered midwits.
>>
>>738843270
i don't want to fucking get used to bullshit, i just want to play the damn game
>>
>>738843540
it's "not a remake" yet still does nothing but re-use every 64 level but with a new coat of paint. The fact it's technically not a remake doesn't save it from how unoriginal it is
>>
>>738843754
no game exists that just lets you play, you have to get used to all the new fangled control mechanisms like dual joysticks, and after you do then it becomes second nature, might even catch on with other developers
>>
>>738838579
>>738843745
how bored do you have to be to pretend to defend an objective failure that is the entire reason a franchise remade an old game again
>>
>>738843701
>Why would you be unable to see 90% of what's going on
because you're looking at the wii u screen the whole time which only shows you which ever specific area you're looking at in first person

MEANWHILE all the cool action is on the tv screen but you won't be looking at it

Game is only playable/fun with specific PC controller emulation profiles

Considering all the levels are distinct from the other games, do you even recognize every single one listed here?
>>
>>738843889
No, sounds astroturfed.
>>738843823
>you're looking at the wii u screen the whole time
You shouldn't do that..
>>
>>738838579
Nintendo needs to hire me.
I won't design any games myself but I will walk around the offices with a wooden ruler and any time one of them thinks about a silly gimmick they get smacked across the back of the hand with the ruler before getting publicly belittled and told to get back to work.
My unique qualification for this is I do not care about the seniority of any of the staff there as I don't identify as a nintendo fan even if I have enjoyed some of their games.
>>
>>738843894
>do you even recognize every single one listed here
Uh yeah bro it's the same fucking map from 64 but add the Great Fox and Salvadora, the latter of which can be beaten in two fucking minutes, lol. Nice try though
>>
>>738843938
>You shouldn't do that..
Someone should've told the game designers that
>>
>>738843894
oh

you have never played any other starfox game
how do you write that post with that picture

As someone who recently played it for the first time, I liked it more than I thought.
Loved Gyro controls on all the ships.
I'd say it was about 30% of the time where you absolutely had to look at the tablet.
Some stages were neat and am glad they weren't just 64 again.
However that fucking Andross fight was so damn annoying is making me doubt if I'll ever do a second or third playthrough to see more worlds.

Would you swear on your life that's the case?
>>
You could remove the screen gimmick and it would still be a bad game. Star Fox 2026 is what I wish we got back in 2016.
>>
>>738844041
You got filtered pretty hard
>>
>>738844045
Where's Macbeth?
>>
>>738844070
>literally EVERY planet/sector is reused
Uhh..Yeah? Oh I'm so sorry, I forgot Sector Y has a clone now and Macbeth is aparently gone and so is Bolse...
Not the big win you think it is lol
>>
>>738844178
Where's Solar?
>>
>>738843894
>>738844070
Where did the sun go?
>>
>>738844105
>implying I wasted my money on that trash
but go ahead and keep denying mechanics that exist in the game, whatever helps you cope
>>
>>738844209
Where's Katina?
>>
>>738844192
I guess that's gone too?
Is that a good thing lol? It seems like it's just SF64 with even LESS variety. Thanks for opening my eyes!
>>
>>738844217
I own the game, it's a lot of fun. Sorry about being poor and wrong, and whatever.
>>
>>738844246
Yes, there's less stuff than 64. Only planet not in 64 is Fortuna which comes from SNES Star Fox instead.
>>
>>738844192
>>738844242
>bro look at all of these cut planets, this game is original and better! disregard that every planet that does exist is reused from 64
I guess this is what life is like for a 0 fan lol
>>
>it's the same game they reused everything
>except all of these areas
>oh and all the levels are different too
>uhh oh... ..
It's okay to be wrong, but you just gotta own it.
>>
>>738843270
I don't give a flying fuck about bing big Mexican on a shitty handheld.
>>
>>738844267
>Sorry about being poor and wrong, and whatever.
It's okay I forgive you anon, hard to be right about SF 0
>>
>>738844297
see
>>738844281
>>
Even on its own terms star fox zero is a pretty uninspired game. Better than assault though
>>
First you admit you're wrong, then you obtain the capacity for growth.
>>
>>738844080
it's not out yet, there is still time for Nintendo to say 'btw it's gyro control only'
>>
>>738844415
It's compatible with the N64 NSO controller so no.
>>
>>738844407
>I was wrong...Star Fox Zero is even worse then I thought, it copies and doesn't even have the amount of variety 64 had
This Zero fan sure opened my eyes!
>>
>>738844415
Yeah let's all hope that the remake is as fucking garbage as zero
>>
Reflect on your life choices if you discover you're both poor and wrong
