I still like this device but Decky and Emudeck aren't being maintained properly at fucking all and it's caused my Steam Deck to lose features over time. I had to fully uninstall Decky because I was never going to risk it again after barely getting myself out of the softlock loop. And Emudeck just sent malware to everyone using CEMU in the last 8 days or something like that.Really wish Valve would just implement their own way to quickly implement individual emulated games as Steam icons and add some of the features Decky had (they're adding them slowly but surely, non steam games track playtime now)
download emulator then click add a non steam game
>>738861116Need bespoke steam input layouts on a per game basis. One Model 2 game is racing next is a rail shooter
>>738861176that's crazy.
I haven't updated emudeck in months
>>738861238Even if I was to leave "but A button feels better on the back buttons in this game" steam input rebinding autism aside, arcade emulators, DS, Wii, and WiiU 100% need the separate bindings
>>738861454how did valve fuck it up so bad? on any other system you just bind the keys from options
>>738861585You can still rebind the controller in the emulator options. Steaminput is just better and I wanna be able to utilize it to the fullest
>>738860970>softlock lookLiterally just press one button to disable decky until they fix it.
I always thought EmuDeck was shit and got tired of it being shit fairly early on in the Deck's lifespan. It's so much easier just to handle your own emulators and not have to worry about shit breaking every update. Personally I don't care about having individual emulated games show up as Steam items so individual emulators works for me without having to do the extra work involved. But Decky I haven't had too much issue with. Dunno if I've encountered the loop you're speaking of, bur running my deck on Stable upstes and updating Decky every now and then seems to mitigate most issues a lot of people seem to be encountering. I don't really care to be on the bleeding edge of updates so Stable works for me personally.
I reduced my playtime with it after Rockstar/T2 decided I wasn't worthy of GTAO, it was perfect for it.

>>738860970>Really wish Valve would just implement their own way to quickly implement individual emulated games as Steam iconsyou can get most emulators to start a specific game directly via launch parameters and there's an artwork customization tab in the game properties now, i don't think there's a whole lot more valve can do on their end to make things more convenient without getting into dubiously legal territory>>738862776i just use retroarch playlists for everything up to the dreamcast and individual shortcuts for everything else (which isn't a ton of stuff since i only ever set up games i actually intend to play rather than download whole libraries)>>738863097was it? i decided it was best to just stream it from my desktop well before the battleye update cuz i was getting 40ish fps at not great settings with still way higher battery drain than i was comfortable with, and it requires an internet connection at all times anyway
>>738860970I'm just waiting on the Steam Deck 2.
>>738860970I never bothered to install Decky. Sounded like a lot of "who cares" features to me. The out of the box experience is good enough in my opinion. Emudeck is pretty much just an install script for individually maintained emulators/frontends/etc. It sounded convenient at first, but there were so many options in that install I was disabling that that I decided just to manage them individually.
>>738867356Well for me it was, I liked playing on the bed and I don't like streaming, don't really mind too much about framerate as long as it is not choppy.
What happened to the raid party?ADHD zoomers ran out of steam quickly
>>738860970Ask Gayben to stop being lazy fatass who relies on the community to do all the job
>>738860970Cant you just download the standalone versions of them from their sites? Im pretty sure there are linux versions
>>738860970Decky stopped having useful new plugins and the ones that were useful before have just completely stopped working. Right now these are all I use, but before I would use DeckyRecorder all the time because Steam Recording was and still is ass. The plugin stopped getting updates and just breaks Decky if you have it installed so its unusable
>>738871824I'm also sad about DeckyRecorder being abandoned. It was so easy to just make a clip and have it in a useful video format and have it automatically sync to my PC was so fucking useful. Way too many extra steps with Steam Recording compared to it.
>>738871824For me it's the music on game pages and music on the main steam deck menus and unique menu soundsHolllly shit I miss that
>>738860970retard
>>738871824Every Steam update breaks decky, which needs an update, which means plugins need an updateIt's hell to develop for decky
You can't really blame them because valve basically gives them no support, and they also constantly change the code they are modifying. It's just injected at runtime into the frontend react code as far as I know, so basically any changes that valve makes to the frontend UI of the deck completely breaks it, which happens every single update basically.
>>738860970>He needs plugins to do emulationLrn2/computer/, little Zoomie.>EmuDeck probably automatically installed malware on his 'Eck without him 'icking it first.OH NO NO NO. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
>>738872325I know how to, launch Emudeck was just super convenient and it's become less and less and less soI'm planning to cut emudeck out of the picture long term and switch over to just using steam ROM manager by itself
>Needing to use emudeckFirst time using a computer?
>>738872325Emudeck has to be manually updatedUnless you updated it between 6-12 of May you're fine
>>738873487>Emudeck has to be manually updated>Unless you updated it between 6-12 of May you're fineI'll clarify for the archive, Emudeck automatically updates on launchThe emulators have to be manually updated in the manage emulators page
