Are the 3D Castlevania games any good?
no
>>738870709I really like this one. It has some crumby level design with way too many empty corridors like it's a flat version of SotN/Igavania, but the world has lots of cool secrets, the combat and devil forging is fun and the bosses are cool.
>>738870709nah
>>738870709lament of innocence is my personal favorite castlevania game
>>738870709They're fine. The lack the polish of what you would expect from a major publisher, even back then. The N64 games have the best level design, but slippery movement, while the PS2 games have tighter controls but put you in a bunch of flat, box shaped rooms and hallways, and Hector in particular moves at a laughably slow pace considering how long and wide the hallways are.

>>738870709>>738872019Lament of Innocence has an amazing OST, but its pretty mediocre IMO.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sh08ym4GgM
>>738872120https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu7t2xO4mXMLike honestly nearly every single track is great.
>>738872019FUCK the night!
>>738870709Yeah but apparently some retards got filtered by their controls so they hate them

>>738872008Lament has some pretty decent puzzle rooms for its time actually, but you can really see how IGA was trying to convert Symphony's level design into 3D in a 1:1 way and it doesn't really work, especially all the hallways. It's pretty disappointing in Lament's case especially since Leon also gets some soft Prince of Persia style rooms where you get to play around ledges and your whip mechanics that allow you to swing and latch onto shit but it's all pretty shallow and not really used as well as it could have been, Lament had a ton of potential on paper but a lot of mechanics are just not used well at all.Still one of the more kino games in the series though and the music is amazing, especially the boss themes.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2RP13pz1KI
>>738871331This. As a castlevania game it can be a little bland design wise, but taken as a 3D ARPG it's very fun. OST is full of bangers too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAhddruIeowhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLyZeX1_DRA
>>738870709As a Castlevania fanboy growing up, the one you pictured was the most disappointing game I played on release.

>>738872008Doing flips across Eastern Europe.
>>738870709There's one, but it's called Bloodborne.
>>738870709The one you posted is the only good one.
>>738872019>>738872538FUCK THE NIGHT
>>738872019this is the only one i played i remember being disapointed that it ended and wanting more
>>738872120Yeah,the OST did a lot of heavy lifting, not a single boring or lame song, that cabin song still comforts me to this day like when I played it 15 years ago. Also most insane horror boss in the entire series, when I was a kid I never figured out how to get to him and the room above him and the stairs leading to him was some real terrifying stuff.I like how they retconed him in LoS
Castlevania 64 is decent, as it's followup Legacy of Darkness. The camera is a bit janky, but it's the only 3D Castlevania with real level design and platforming. It's also by far the most unique one.Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness are okay. They are basically just running down big empty hallways fighting enemies. They are kind of uninspired games.Lords of Shadow is dogshit.
