The combat is exactly the same, they only added a enemy reactions for feedback to make it feel better. Hilarious if that actually fooled you into believing it was changed.

>>738879935the numbers rebalance covers up a lot, in old oblivion you could attack really fast. but that looks and feels like shit. No feedback on the hits, and enemies all feel like sponges. Basically what they did was cut the player attack speed in half, and cut the enemy base health in half. killing something in 3 slow hits feels infinitely better then killing it in 6 fast hits. The hit reaction really does help too.

>>738881103The reaction in the remake is fake though, enemies will still just power through attacks all the way until they die. Same for the change in enemy health which is all over the place. If you play on the normal difficulty, they've been reduced by a significant amount across the board. If you bump it up even once, it gets doubled, and on master it's nearly triple the amount of what the original gave enemies. You go right back to the same problem the original had, only now it's actually worse. Likewise none of your attacks have any kind of pushback so you can't control space with a long reaching weapon and attacking quickly, ironically giving more nuance to combat than the remake. Which normalized attack speed for weapons and subsequently made 2 handed weapons objectively the worst weapons in the game since they relied on that speed and range to keep enemies at a distance with the pushback. But hey, enemies will now rock their torso back and forth when hit, so that's something.
