What does this board think of VR?
>>
i am waiting for steam frame
so sick of meta
>>
>>738879589
Time for pimax or bsb
>>
>>738879293
it has two uses, porn and racing/flight simulators, that's it
>>
>>738880151
>pimax
is their software still dogshit?
i had a 5k+ and their software was in similar quality to vibecoded slop despite ai coding was never a thing and the hardware itself also had some distinct features i associate with low cost manufacturing like paper thin plastic or slightly warped plastic
>>
>>738879293
Worth it for porn alone. 2d smut is passe
>>
>>738880538
Its rlly good rn. Come a long way. No im not a chink lover
>>
>>738881337
what about dfr and wide pov warping?
if those two works cleanly together i think i might get one

Haven't tinkered around with those settings yet so sorry.
>>
>>738879293
How the heck to people game with that much weight in their head
>>
luv me quest 3
simple as
But really I don't use it near as much anymore. Occasionally to fuck around in thrill of the fight 2, or blade and sorcery, or H3VR, but nowehre near as much as I used to, I've played literally EVERY vr game at this point, there's nothing left.
>>
>>738881914
With a pulley system it feels like wireless.
>>
>>738879293
it goes the same way 3D did with movies
>>
>>738882846
3d movies are now kind of a staple though
did you mean home use 3d tv/monitors?
>>
>>738882482
Its not much heavier than a quest 3.
>>
Tell me straight /b/, will my Radeon 6800 (no xt) run steam frame just fine?
>>
>>738883048
same as well
i haven't seen a 3D movie promoted in the theaters for years
>>
>>738882482
>>
>>738880223
1st person grid based dungeon crawlers tho.
>>
>>738883190
>shilling janny is a phoneposter
Shocking. Remember when I caught you shilling, janny?
>>
>>738879293
fuck meta for ruining the VR ecosystem
>>
>>738883402
i know. such an annoyance
>>
>>738883132
steam frame is a self-contained device, like a quest. 6800 will run like 99% of VR games fine though, most of the ones worth playing came out way before covid. 3070s are near the upper echelon. Only time you run into issues is when you load bonelabs or blade and sorcery with mods.
>>
>>738883337
Side loader is for standalone headsets....I'm making a point in favor of the crystal light.. retard sama I-
>>
>>738879293
Anything involving motion controls sucks dick. The world moved on after the Wii.
Seems cool for driving and flying sims though

This is why I refuse to buy a Meta headset
Vote with your wallet, it's not about the cost of the Quest, it's about not giving money to Meta under any circumstance
I would pay $2000 to Gaben for the Steam Frame just to spite Zucckerberg

I hate him so much, if he died and all his companies were destroyed overnight the world would only become a better place, he is responsible for engineering pointless misery upon the world all to drive you to click on advertisements, he is the main driver behind the cyperpunk dystopia and age id online checks
>>
Just to let you guys know I'm not a shill for either headset... as I own both a crystal light for pcvr and a quest 3 for standalone shit, but if you guys are thinking about getting a q3 or wireless headset, compression is absurdly awful compared to a wired display port.
Its like comparing cloud gaming to having a wired pc.
With a kiwi pulley system for the wire its no different from wireless to me aside from if I make 15 consecutive 360 degree turns which I never do.
>>
>>738883605
The point was that you were shilling Pimax, and managed 3 identical posts in a 16 second period (something a regular user couldn't do), outing you as a janny.
>>
>>738883771
I swear on my life thats not me. Why would I shill when I own both headsets and enjoy both of them?
The logic aint logicking.
>>
>>738883672
You're more principled than most people who literally do not give a fuck because the end result is functionally the same and their data is already gone.
Doomer, future prevention, blah blah blah you cannot convince a normalfag that any of that shit matters. They saw faceberg selling data via wikileaks and other whistleblowers and nothing happened. Not a single thing. They got fined for less than 1% of their annual revenue.
>>
>>738883887
You can't swear on your life, because you have none.
>>
>>738883938
I wonder if pimax harvests data. Its a Chinese company, hq is in Shanghai so it wouldn't suprise me.
The ceo seems like a nice guy, but the Chinese government encourages companies to steal American data.
>>
>>738884131
Every company harvests data. It's a matter of whether they're open about it or not. Every company. Steam too, they're open about it and ask for things like the hardware survey, but their new labs tests like the recommendation feed use things like hover-over time for titles in the store to curate for you (it says this right in the labs description for the recommendation queue).
EVERY company steals data. All of them, data is the only thing worth money because data on you is how they get you to buy shit, by marketing to you.
So, yes. They probably harvest every bit of info you willingly give them, then whatever proprietary software they have if any (I don't know I was never a fan of anything beyond the OR devkits).
>>
>>738884131
isnt it possible to use without any account?
not sure about crystal tho but it was like that when i had their older models
even if they do requrie account they are not like
"you must register a social media account bolted to play anything on this and there is no way around it and also we are going to send all the camera data to 3rd world data annotation firms"
>>
>>738884339
Yeah, but when American companies harvest data, they sell it to advertisers.
When Chinese companies harvest data, they're building biological and location profiles for their enemies to target them with upgraded versions of the Kung Flu.
>>
>>738884340
The pimax software reminds me alot OG razer software, which is minimally easy to register not much connectivity required and a low bandwidth app. So logically it wouldn't seem like they would harvest data with such a simplistic piece of software but with modern technology you can do anything.
>>
Only really interested in it for flight or racing sims
>>
>>738884471
i dont really mind sharing some crash memory dumps and anonymized UI interaction logs
if you do really care you can firewall it anyways
>>
>>738884454
American companies are doing that too. What do you think AI optical pattern recognition profiles are being developed for? Why do you think major companies are buying these nvidia ram+tensor boxes? Walmart bought like 10,000 of them to install in various stores for customer recognition. One box can cover like 100 CCTVs simultaneously.
Selling just to advertisers is 2015 shit.
>>
>>738884621
You're still agreeing with what I said. American companies are about making a quick buck. Chinese companies are about destroying everything outside of China.
>>
>>738884679
no, I'm using them as the most recognizable example, I'm saying those same profiles are being built everywhere.
>>
>>738884810
It's still a different thought process.
>get searched by cops
>cop sticks his finger up your ass because he's searching for drugs
is not the same as
>go to cookout
>uncle sticks his finger up your ass while your hand is down his shorts
Just because there are similarities in the processes doesn't mean the motivations are the same. China is just the world's pederast uncle, and everyone keeps looking away while they lick the shit off their fingers.

VR is great for multiplayer shooters.
Really raises the skill ceiling. How fast you reload or switch guns is entirely down to skill.
And it's so immersive.
