Only the first Tenchu is great, the second is good, the rest are slop.
>>738879346I played Tenchu 1 because of your grid. I was shit at it. Should probably go back to it desu
I'm going to propose an experiment. Somehow I ended up accidentally making a 666x666 pixel grid many years ago, and thought it was funny, so I stuck with it. I'd like to suggest other people should do the same. Turns out it's easy to do with Collage Maker, which I switched to using at some point. Don't do this if you're superstitious about the number 666, but if you're not superstitious, just try it and see what happenshttps://www.befunky.com/create/collage/

>>738880685OP here. They were all great until after Z:>1 is pure soul with a 10/10 OST, but its arguably aged the worst due to it only having back stealth kills and having the PS1 era tank controls.>2 has the indisputable best story in the series, better and more varied stealth kills, intersecting campaigns and more ambition overall. Really the only downsides are the tank controls, lack of music during missions and the fact the grappling hook can only latch onto edges. It was a game that was insanely ambitious, but was held back by hardware (if they ever do a reboot, I’d love to see this game’s story remade).>WoH is GOAT and in my top 3 games of all time. It’s like a more polished version of the first game and the combat and boss design is good too. I missed the level editor from the PS1 games, but I like how the levels are designed in such a way that you can’t trivialise them by just going on rooftops. Insane amount of replay value and hidden secrets too (fucking love the B-Side dub and Through The Portal). My only complaint is that the story is a complete trainwreck, but it’s so campy that it’s enjoyable in a “so bad, it’s good” kind of way.>Fatal Shadows is criminally underrated. Even better combat and improved AI and story, although it’s hurt by having less content than WoH and the fact I hate the scroll system for ability unlocks instead of WoH’s kill meter. Levels are also less memorable than WoH’s, and no Rikimaru is a bummer even though I like Rin a lot.>Z is like a more polished Shinobido, but it lacks the RNG and branching story paths that give Shinobido its replay value. I think if they made a modern Tenchu, Z should be its gameplay base though.I also think Time of the Assassins for the PSP is underrated, even though being put on the PSP hurt the game’s framerate severely. I remember being obsessed with its level editor growing up.
i like guys, can u tell
>>738883635>>738884034I ought to get into Yakuza. What's the best game to start with? Looks like they delisted the original versions of each one on steam too
>>738884498universal answer is always Yakuza 0. it's generally regarded as the best game (or at minimum one of them) and is a prologue story so it's the very beginning. well at least until STH i gueeeess but yeah just play Yakuza 0. the new Director's Cut version only has minor changes, for language and they added a couple cutscenes that only hardcore fans will cry about. it's still gonna give you the full intro story and be good
>>738884628sorry PREQUEL to Yakuza 1 (Kiwami 1) not prologue, wrong word
>>738884628Sweet, thanks for the run down anon
>>738879553Noice. Which Splinter Cell game is in the center?
>>738884498If you can put up with some charming yet undeniably unpolished beat 'em up gameplay, the original PS2 version of Yakuza is a good place to start. Best played with the restoration patch that does away with the god awful English dub.Part of the experience for me is seeing how the games evolve with each following entry.
>>738884781if you like the series you can just play them in order after that. Kiwami is their word for Remake, Kiwami 1/2/3 are all just better combat and visuals and regarded as better than the originals so I wouldn't bother with the OG.4/5/6 are all normal. 7 (like a dragon) is turn based RPG. 8 (infinite money) is mostly turn based RPG with small combat momentsthere's also the Judgment and Lost Judgment stories which are completely separate side games, they're really good and focus on an ex-lawyer solving crimes as a detective, using the traditional combat system (but it's one of the best imo).I think Yakuza Ishin is pretty standalone as well but would probably play that later (also it's Unreal Engine and kinda boring)uhhh that's basically all the games, Pirate Yakuza is a side game as well but same deal, wouldn't start with that since it reuses characters from the series. Dead Souls is a zombie game and unplayable mostly unless ps3 and suffering
>>738885087playing the game with dub instead of subs is a huge mistake but I like kissing men so what the hell do i know
>>738885103There's also Black Panther the Japanese exclusive PSP game made by Aki Corp (Def jam, and Raw vs Smackdown devs). It's one of the better written Yakuza games, but stylistically diverges from the main series quite a bit. Also the RPG elements are a bit harder.
>>738885294Forgot to mention it has a easily available English (fan) translation.
>>738885294>>738885378tf I didn't even know about this one, thanks I'll check it out dawg
>>738884915Chaos Theory, that's the game where he first started using a knife like you see in the picture. I've actually recently downloaded a PS2 emulator to play the fourth game, which is very similar to Chaos Theory in gameplay. In case you don't know, the fourth game has completely different missions depending on what generation of console you play it on. I tried first on an xbox emulator, but PS2 emulators are much easier to get working properly.
>>738883635I'm often confused by Batman Arkham discussions on /v/, because to me Arkham City easily seems like the best one, and I also thought it had the best reviews. But whenever there's a Batman thread on /v/, people seem to act like City is the worst out of all 3, sometimes all 4. I just started playing Arkham Knight again, and it's running like ass.
>>738884495Maybe it's because I never played the original game that inspired it, but Bombrush Cyberfunk was a huge disappointment to me. I liked Lethal League, and I was excited for a Tony Hawk style game, but apparently that's not what they're going for in these games.
>>738886739if you play Jet Set Radio you'll puke your eyes out at how bad it feels in comparison to BRC, super floaty games with minimal tricks and controls. JSRF is better but neither is THPS. tony hawk gives you a lot of tricks and specific map goals, JSR is more about electrofunk fibes and hitting graffiti spots around the map with some basic combat and a few challenges and a bit more platforming focus than thps. THPS is more technical with more tricks and I do wish Bomb Rush had at least a little more trick variety. it's not gonna be for everyone for sure. i gotta try Lethal League still but not usually my type of game so idk. Team Reptile doing pretty good though I think in general, Hyperfunk in the works
>>738884495the slopiest of slop
>>738887742thanks dad. always wanted to play LBP but got into playstation stuff late, saw the servers are dead that's a rip

>>738879346>my favorite game of all time, out of the tens of thousands of games to exist is.... asscreedI miss old /v/ man
>>738893726The first AC is rather underrated nowadays. I actually didn’t fully realise how good it actually was until I replayed it with the HUD off. The HUD (specifically the minimap) kind of ruins the game, and it gets way better if you turn it off.I won’t pretend it’s a perfect game, but it’s an interesting one, and not the clunky disaster some people paint it as.
>>738893726I feel ya.
>>738879346I don't get how the OG creators of Tenchu could go on to make Shinobido. The whole game has you moving like your in a perpetual ice level or the ground everywhere is covered in vaseline

>>738882614Why 358/2 days over all the other entries>>738885103>Kiwami 1/2/3 are all just better combat and visuals and regarded as better than the originals so I wouldn’t bother with the OGDo not listen to this man
>>738898452yakuza 3 is ass, delusionalyou could make an argument for some aspects of 1 & 2 but please explain your reasoning
>>738897876based>>738898452>>738898551yakuza 3 is great.
>>738898645>THE THIRTY MINUTE CUTSCENE AND THE JANK BOSS FIGHTS AND THE ASS COMBAT MADE IT PEAAAAAAKwell I'm glad you had fun at least, miserable experience for me playing the original
>>738898551I cba to find the image but there’s tons around showing the downgrades of the demakesI know they’re popular on reddit where any game older than the eight generation is unplayable but it’s pretty common opinion on this site that the kiwami versions are garbage
>>738898452>Why 358/2I like what it's about.
>>738899109meh I like the dragon engine. the kiwami versions have their issues especially with physics, removing content, etc. but they don't bother me a ton. I am not happy about them changing Rikiya and changing actual story elements with Kiwami 3. rgg is getting worse and worse and STH has me nervous
