>>738881631I think they would improve if they picked a more neutral temperature to the lighting. All the sprites are lit like they're in sunset. Rather than in clear day light, or neutral white light.Also, they're only shade in their light side. They didn't include any ambient shading inside of the shadows.Knowing what I know now, if I were to attempt what they did, I would shade the sprites using normal map colors. That way, they can change the lighting of the sprites to fit each stage, and capture ambient lighting for shadows. And since it's normal mapped, they can actually change the lighting dynamically, if they wanted. Though, for the sake of keeping the style sharp, they should stick to a fixed light for their main shading. And then any surrounding lights can act dynamically, in order to give it a little extra flair.
