I made fun of this jewish friend of mine heavily cause he told me he pirated ninja gaiden 4, a game i bought and loved. I rubbed in his face that he pirated a game that sold worse than hundred line, a game he purchased full price and fucking hated, so much that he rants about it just mentioning the name. He did eventually buy it, and every time hed play it go "OMG THIS GAME SO GUD" then stop playing after 40 mins to play deadlock.Anyway, i can only justify piracy if publishers are dicks or the game is abandonware. Games like rollerdrome and disco elysium, it honestly is morally correct to pirate because the dev studio of those games dont even exist and will never see a cent of it. Same with the original dead space trilogy.If the game isnt being legally sold, pirate away, just dont complain about it or posture about it. The market started because of it and kept growing even when even when it's still there. Them clinging to their honoru system is backwards.

I don't seek out legitimate avenues because I could not justify those prices no matter how much I made. There is no affordable avenue to purchase manga if you're buying it outside of Japan. Anime does not have this problem to nearly the same degree because much of it has been seamlessly integrated with existing TV streaming programs and the rest is still on monthly subscription sites. There is no manga site I'm aware of that you can just sub for a flat recurring fee and read all you want. Everything is token-based, you pay X amount to read a single chapter of a single manga. It's also broken up so no one site has everything from every publisher, so you're going to have to use multiple sites no matter what. Fuck that. It's made especially difficult to justify when the alternative is "free site with almost every manga ever made with a tagging system and we don't require an account". I'm sorry, but you have to make your service more convenient and accessible than pirate sites, and that can't just constitute playing whack-a-mole with them. Manga authors and studios shouldn't be pressuring customers to use the existing, terrible system, they should be putting serious pressure on the system to not be so utterly shit.Also, he's completely wrong about the whole 'getting it for free' bit because I feel like it was really only around 2013-14(ish, I don't have some exact date) that they started putting serious effort into the western market. Before that you had tons and tons of fansubbers for anime and scanlators for manga doing all their work for them because there literally was no alternative whatsoever. That was the case for literal decades, and now you give people the option the option to pay insane prices for a terrible service and get mad when they don't want to.
