Honestly I know what you mean anon. The atmosphere is HEAVY with dread, danger and despair. The game is globally acclaimed for having some of the best art direction and vibes in gaming history. I also felt like I had to trudge forward at times. It's an intentional game design. You are supposed to feel oppressed by the nightmare. But you must hunt. Slay the beasts and wake from the nightmare anon. Go forth, hunter. Find your prey.

It's probably because I've beaten BB like 20 times but it's probably the easiest souls game. If you are having trouble just use saw cleaver and spam R1.

It's just such an unrelentingly bleak game and everyone is violently insane or dead.
I dragged my friend through the game in jolly coop, until Bloodstarved beast where he finally gave up for good after dying about 20 times, emotionally scarred and in shambles
