why only the first 5? 6 is when the series started getting good
Yep. Atari also owns Digital Eclipse, so perhaps we'll see compatible versions of Wizardry 2 and Wizardry 3 to go with their 2023 version of Wizardry 1.
>>738895319They couldn't afford the good ones.
>>738895319No one wanted to sell the Good ones
>>738893784They still have to ask Drecom to use the name Wizardry
>>738893784>https://www.gamesindustry.biz/atari-acquires-rights-to-first-five-wizardry-rpgsHas anyone told them they literally bought the worst ones?
>>738895319My guess is this is so Atari can do another one of those port jobs for the first 5 games. The other ones are new enough that they still run just fine on modern PCs. Still pretty crazy how Wizardry became an honorary Japanese IP way back when.
>>738897305I think the graphics, or lack of graphics is the main reason.A lot is left up to the imagination.
>>738893784Old news. We had at least three threads about it last week.

>>738896525>>738897234It's ironic that old Wizardry is more popular in Japan (nearly all JDRPGs are based off Wizardry 5) while the newer Wizardry is more popular in NA, but Atari is buying up just the old titles. I'm guessing they're just trying to grab any well-known titles to add them to their catalog, but you'd think that old Wizardry would've stuck with Japan while the newer Wizardry titles would get remade more frequently.
>>738900235Yup
>>738893784the acquisition comes with the rights to spell names, monsters, the revive/lost mechanic, locations, and characters. what are the chances they're going to try to bully drecom? i know the upcoming anime is set in llylgamyn saga.
