I'm VERY CLOSE to buying one, /v/. I had buyers regret for the Switch 1, so seems pointless to buy the second one. I do like that it can run "most" stuff at 60FPS, which is what I hated about the first Switch, as everything ran at 30 FPS. I know some developers refuse to do 60FPS. I think the director for Xenoverse said he's more focused on visuals than FPS, so they're going to keep it at 30 FPS, which is retarded.

I just don't want buyer's regret.
>>
>>738904319
You can trade in/sell the Switch 1 which would help offset the cost, towards a Switch 2.
>>
>>738904319
What games do you want to play, because unless you're a slut for bing bing slop, you're better off with literally anything else.
>>
>>738904508
My Switch 1 OLED has been laying under my bed for two years. I don't know if the damn thing even turns on, plus it's filthy. One of my Switch's had a battery degradation issue from not being turned on/used for like a year, apparently that was an issue they were having with them, at least years ago. I don't know if they ever fixed it. It probably isn't a big deal unless you just go a long time without turning it on.

>>738904549
I mean...NSO is a pretty good deal. It's cheap and you get access to a lot of classic stuff. Golden Sun would be fun to replay. I don't know specifically what I'd play on it, but I am aware that if you don't like first party titles then it's probably a waste of money. I have NEVER played a Splatoon game, so I don't know if I'd like it. I personally thought it looked stupid, and I don't really care for multiplayer slop. I know Raiders is more PvE solo based gameplay, so maybe that might appeal more to me.

It's also just good to have one for games coming out way later, like the OoT remake and Fire Emblem: Weavers. Nintendo is also doing a global price hike on Switch 2's on September 1st, I believe. It's going up by $50, so a Switch 2 will go from $450-$500, at least in the U.S.
>>
>>738904696
Splatoon is fantastic, but if you can’t see the mechanical brilliance and think it looks dumb, it might be lost on you
>>
>>738904696
>He's going to pay for NSO

Dude. Just buy a Wii and mod it.
It's the easiest thing in the world and will cost you like $130 max.
You could literally play anything from NES to the Wii for free. Even GBA games.
>>
>>738905593
I get your point, but NSO is like $5 a month. That's $60 a year. That's dirt cheap for a subscription plan. I understand if you just don't want to give money to Nintendo, but $5 isn't a big deal to me.
>>
>>738904319
Why buy one if you arent playing the games? The switch has a crazy huge library that you can be playing it for the next decade and wouldnt run out of games to play
>>
>>738905826
Are you forgetting the $500 console you need for your $60 subscription plan?

What a steal!!!

>Switch 1 was a Wii U port machine for the first half of its lifespan and then a remaster/remake machine for the second half
>Switch 2 is a Switch port machine for its current lifespan and already moving into its remake/remaster era

Nintendo realizing that they own the most iconic and highly regarded gaming library in history outside of a few choice titles from other devs like Capcom, older Sony, and Bamco really just put the nail in the coffin for any need for them to make new game experiences. Every console generation they can just republish a new Twilight Princess HD edition, republish the last console's library onto the new one, and then just shart out a bare minimum of actual new games.
>>
>>738904319
Just wait for the new release with removable battery and buy it at huge sale.
Every store will have sales when the price hike goes into effect.

I bought my switch 2 on release and love it. I played my switch 1 all the time so it was nice to have a seemless upgrade and some new games. Everything looks nicer. It's a fun system

Those are Switch 2 titles anon. Can you read?
>>
>>738906498
You/they said "Switch exclusive" titles. Those are Switch exclusive titles. I'm aware there is a difference between the Switch 1 and Switch 2, but in the grand scheme of things, I doubt your/there modded Wii U can play other one, so ultimately owning a Switch makes sense if you want to play Switch 1/Switch 2 exclusive titles. The Switch is backwards compatible as well, so I don't know what you're trying to prove.

What is the Switch backwards compatible with? It takes cartridges, what other Nintendo cartridges/disks are compatible with the Switch?

Sometimes Switch is the only way to own an indie title. Like why would you even pay for an indie if you couldn't own it?

>>738906617
But can your modded Wii U play Switch 1 games? Since you want to be pedantic about it. If a modded Wii U can't play Switch 1 games, then I have no reason to answer your question. It still makes sense to buy a Switch. So, answer my question, so I can answer yours. Can a modded Wii U play Switch games? No, it can't. How do I know? Because I looked it up.

So, I have no reason to answer your question or continue this debate. There are Switch games I want to play, and I can't do that on a modded Wii U. End of discussion.

>>738904319
30fps will become the standard and for Nintendo games it's already heading that way.

>>
>>738906810
I'm not answering that because it doesn't matter. You lost the argument. Your modded Wii U can't play Switch games or Switch 2 games. There is no reason for me to buy and mod a Wii U if I want to play Switch games. It does not matter whether or not there are Switch exclusives I want to play. A modded Wii U cannot play Switch games at all, whether it's Switch 1 or Switch 2.

Are you just planning to keep asking the same question to prove a non-existent point? To do what? Be annoying? And see how many times I reply. It's okay if you don't want to admit you were wrong and I made you look like a retard.

Like a PS5 or Series X, the thing that makes Switch 2 worth it as a next-gen console is that Switch 1 back catalog of games that now run great when they didn't, and being able to play them in docked mode in handheld, matching the 1080p output of the screen. A lot of Switch 1 games didn't scale properly between Docked and Handheld. You'd get a 720p output but it was just the 1080p font of the game supersampled down to 720p looking kinda rough. Not on Switch 2 though. I've just been going over Switch 1 games I never finished and enjoying how they no longer stutter like they used to, and look sharp af. But you have to enable Handheld Boost mode for most of them, and it disables the touch screen during play. Not a problem for games that didn't have any touch functionality.

>>
>>738906943
Not every Switch 1 game got an upgrade with "Boost mode" so it's just hit or miss if you notice improvements on them. It also goes by a developer basis.

>>738906990
Was your entire argument not "Buy a modded Wii U" so what exactly does it provide for you if I answer your question? A modded Wii U cannot play Switch exclusive games. I told you I wanted to play Switch games, and I can't do that on a modded Wii U. I really have no idea what you're expecting to gain from me answering your question?

There are no Switch exclusive games I want to play. I want to play Switch 2 exclusive games and games on the Switch 2 because it is a superior machine to the Switch 1. There. I answered your dumbass question. It doesn't provide you with any type of victory. Your modded Wii U cannot play Switch games, so there is no reason for me to own one.

Now go ahead and explain to me what sort of victory you think you got by getting me to answer you, because as far as I can tell, I completely blew your argument apart.
>>
>>738906943
handheld boost is a system selling feature imo
>>
>>738904319
If the price hike wasn't happening I wouldn't feel compelled to get one in the next few months. After Tears of the Kingdom I lost a significant amount of faith in Nintendo overall.
>>
>>738907145
I personally didn't like BotW so I didn't even bother with ToTK. I can't say I have no faith in Nintendo, but I do think over the years I've lost interest in Nintendo games. I don't really care about Mario anymore or Kirby. I don't care about racing games or multiplayer stuff. I also don't really care about Pokemon anymore either, so there are just few things for Nintendo that I still care about, mostly Fire Emblem and Xenoblade.
>>
>>738907108
>Not every Switch 1 game got an upgrade with "Boost mode" so it's just hit or miss if you notice improvements on them. It also goes by a developer basis.
I thought it worked for all games, and it just depends on how that particular game scaled between handheld or docked. I know there's a bunch of Switch 1 games that are also 720p docked, or not reaching 1080p in docked.
They'll still look better on Switch 2 in most cases either way, except when it obviously now downgrades by not matching the screen resolution anymore. A lot of games are 1080p on the UI scale on Switch 1 at least, and then used Dynamic res, and if they used to hit 368p-540p they'll now reach 540p most of the time. I wonder if that scales nicely, since that'd be double pixel to 1080p. Probably not, due to anti aliasing.
>>
>>738907130
Yeah. I had my criticism of Switch 2 and really enjoyed the few games that were 1080p by accident. I've been using it a lot more just since that update came out.
>>
>>738907210
I know some games had an unlocked frame rate, so if they ran at 30 FPS on Switch 1, they might run at like 50 FPS or 60 FPS on Switch 2, but that's only if the developer had the frame rate unlocked. I know a random example is Ni No Kuni 2. It ran at 30 FPS on Switch 1, and apparently now it runs at 60 FPS on Switch 2.

Jokes on all of you fags and OP. I haven’t played a Nintendo game since DK cuntry returns on the Wii. I am going to buy a switch 2 and have an insane amount of games to play haha.

should i wait to see if nintendo announces the oot themed switch 2 next month or should i just buy the regular one
>>
>>738907841
OOT game will come out in Dec or Jan to line close to the Zelda movie next year.
>>
>>738907841
If your goal is to play Starfox, just get one. If your goal is to play OoT Remake or that Mario 2027 game, honestly wait and see what happens.
But you could also just buy it, and then sell it once a better model is out. I know they'll make an OLED one day (if the hardware pricing shit doesn't spiral out of control) and then I'll probably buy it to system-transfer and then sell my old one.
>>
>>738904319
I mean sure switch 2 is way more stable and has better visuals than switch 1 and is comparable to a Series S but don't expect them all to be 60fps. You need a strong CPU for that and it's not what this console has if you plan to play current gen games.
>>
>>738905425
>Splatoon is fantastic
lol. lmao.
>>
>>738906943
what's boost mode? is it just render at 2x internal resolution that the emulators have?
>>
>>738907953
I have a mid/high gayming PC, so a Switch 2 might be a horrible investment, but if I want to play first party games or emulate nintendo games then it would be good, but is it worth getting one for basically $500 just to play first party titles and emulate games on it? And I guess I have to ask myself just how many titles right now do I want to play on Switch 2?

FFVII Rebirth is a shitty port, and I own it on PC, so it's retarded to double dip and buy it for Switch 2, especially if the visuals and FPS will be much worse. I really don't understand people that buy things like FFVII Rebirth on Switch 2, because it looks better on PC and consoles, so I'm assuming people playing it on Switch 2 don't own a gaming PC or a PS5/XSX.

If the Switch 2 is your main gaming console and you play everything on Switch 2, then yeah, that makes sense. You're playing ported games in the worst possible way though. Less textures, assets, worse resolution, FPS, visuals, etc.
