Actually buying weapons and armor is a rookie mistake. You're supposed to spend your money on consumables you'll never use.

Level scaling is such ass backwards design. The only games that have ever done it decently are ones where the new enemies make it easier to get stronger to keep up like being able to draw higher level spells in FF8.

I think the worst part was you when you couldn't bring bell bearings into ng+. So if you didn't upgrade weapons, or buy upgrade materials before ng+, you were just fucked.
Glad they patched that out.

It's better if you're a journalist, which is who Fallout 4 was made for.

I actually know people who defend level scaling.

I do not know anyone who defends level scaling who can also explain how its better than just not having any leveling system at all.

morrowind did level scaling the right way, instead of scaling the stats of enemies to be more difficult it spawns more difficult monsters

eh, spray and pray isn't THAT good on survivor where single-action long range and grenades/aoe are the best way to fight enemies, but if you're comparing it to pipe guns you have to remember that pipe guns are quite literally junk
>>
>>738908495
There is no "right way" to do level scaling. The whole concept is inherently wrong design.

The number one source of fun in an RPG is becoming stronger than the enemy. Trying to mitigate that is trying to debug fun out of the game.

FNV did level scaling just fine. Leveling up makes stronger enemies appear. These enemies also have better guns and armor, so you get way better gear to use and sell from defeating them.

No it does not dumbass. The enemies just get reflect magic 100 as a permanent stat and spawn with magic weapons. Both are easily killed by punching them out or a bow.
