And not release order
>>
>Wow, I'm glad later games ditched all the camo and food micromanagement shit!
>>
This is because Delta/3 is a better starting point for modern gamers than the terribly aged MGS1 (or worse, mg1 on psx) and it feels better to end the series with MGS4 than TPP’s botched ending

Nah, shit take btw
>>
>>738910226
Gz and tpp both still have camo, the index values are just hidden.
>>
>>738910180
you are a retard
>>
It’s true. As a kid I couldn’t get into mgs1 but I was able to get into mgs3 immediately.

I feel like it's almost better to just treat TPP as a separate thing altogether from the main Metal Gear saga. It would be awkward as either an ending, or a bridge into MGS1. It's just out of place within the series as a whole and doesn't have much narrative connection to anything except Peace Walker. Really best to just look at PW-TPP as a spinoff thing.

when it comes to playing MGS1-4 I think you can do it either way. I'm glad I played them in release order but idk if you'd miss out on anything too important going chronologically. I think the only thing is, Delta/3 are obviously a lot more accessible, but then if you're going for the accessible option because you aren't used to retro games, then you're still going to have a hard time going backwards from 3 to 1 & 2. You're pretty much just betting that 3 will hook you on the story enough to power through 1 & 2 in that case. I think it's arguably better to just dive right into 1, and if you can't handle an older game like that then maybe the series isn't for you, because you're gonna have to play 1 & 2 at some point if you want the full experience.
>>
So you're saying in order to play the series you should play in order:
MGS3, Peacewalker, Ground Zeroes, Phantom Pain, Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, MGS 1, MGS 2, MGS 4 and then Revengeance?

That sounds very retarded.

i cant listen to the rape tapes

Going from TPP to MG1 sounds very retarded.

Release order in almost all scenarios was intended creator delivery. But i also can't experience it chronologically for the first time either. Although Peace Walkers still coincides with GZ doesn't it? i thought it directly picked up on its story themes. Otherwise Miller would really be having any reason to discussing Paz in the opening.
>>
>>738910180
I went 4 > 2 > 1 > 3 > PW > V
People always say the first game you play in any series will always be your favorite one but that is not the case here
>>
>>738910180
not even fucking close
>>
>>738910180
That makes no fucking sense you retard
>>
>>738910180
That's like watching Better Call Saul before Breaking Bad.
>>
i think they're all equally good
>>
>>738910226
This but unironically
>>
I played the best games first (1, V and MSX) and then got a PS3 for 2, 3 and 4 (wasn't worth it, worst games in the series)
>>
>>738910954
>Doesn't even sound like rape
>Just some whore moaning erotically
I reckon Paz was secretly into it
>>
There is only one way:
1. Solid Snake entries: MGS1 -> MGS2
2. Big Boss entries: MGS3 -> MGSPW
3. Wrap up Big-Boss story: MGSV (GZ+TPP)
4. Wrap up Solid Snake story: MGS4

There you go. In this way you run 2 parallel stories chronologically, while respecting release orders as much as possible, without ending on a wet noodle by prioritizing MGS4 as the final game. This way you treat MGSV as the gameplay climax, and MGS4 as the cinematic/story climax.
>>
my first mgs game was when i played mgs5 in 2015 and then a few years later i played through the series. i didnt feel like i was robbed of anything, really

MGS4 is a direct sequel to 3
Snake and Raiden don't even matter in that game
