>>738910590Well besides that Star Fox is Miyamoto's baby and he still has a lot of pull, I think Nintendo just became disillusioned with Prime 4 over its development and even they knew they shit the bed a little. The initial announcement all the way back in 2017 was given a special spot in an E3 direct and announced as a system seller. But then development just dragged on and on, and obviously had a lot of trouble, and I think at some point they kind of quietly gave up on it.

Prime 4 cost like 100 million because of the troubled dev cycle. Marketing would have made its budget even higher and Nintendo knew it wasn't selling enough to break even.

By the time the game was ready the momentum and plans were squashed. They'll try again another time I'm sure but right now they're trying a similar marketing plan with Star Fox.
