wtf happened to gaming phones and why is no one trying to capitalise on this huge untapped market?
glad to hear you finally woke up from your 15-year coma. we have smartphones now btw.
>>738916708now imagine smartphones, but with console grade games and responsive tactile controls.all in one unit.
>>738916680Do you want the good news or the bad news?
companies are too cheap to design a whole new form factor when they have been reusing the same design for smartphones for the last decade. Also the reason why everyone is dumping physical buttons is that screens are cheaper. The xperia play also flopped so they don't want to risk it all betting on an expensive thing that could fail miserably.
>>738916874Phil Spencer spent five years proving there isn't a market for this. Console gamers don't want to play those games on mobile and neither do gamers with mobile-centric tastes (gacha, f2p, etc).
>>738916680I know that there are a lot of people with good phones that are able to run games in a good performance now, but I'd rather play on a big screen with my controller instead of a touch screen or connecting a controller on a small screen like switch
>>738916680I have one of these and got a lot of use out of it especially after the leak that let it play any PS1 game.>>738916708Smartphones are useless for gaming without physical controls.
>>738916874I don't see a problem with the igeneral dea of mobile gaming (their quality and monetization do suck, and the games used to be better overall, tho) as this casual and occasional entertainment for when you have a few spare minutes. Nobody aside from seamonkeys wants to use a phone as a serious gaming platform for hours in one sitting. And touchscreen input is perfectly viable for many types of games, but it's often misused by devs without vision who make action vidya with these idiotic virtual sticks and buttons scattered on the screen and call it a day.
