What do you think combat inh sonic games?
>>
I'm glad it autoaims, otherwise I'd miss constantly. Makes sense that Sonic does it by himself, without input from the player.

It's sad the werehog had better combat than this

I let Frontiers away with a lot that I wouldn't want to see anywhere else because a Sonic game is aimed at a younger audience than like Bayonetta. Still, the block is massively overpowered and combat is generally mashing the attack button over and over while sometimes deciding to see another animation for dealing damage. I think the homing attack fucks up combat quite a bit, because it sort of removes actually getting to the enemy. The game does that for you. Sonic is obviously supposed to be very fast, so a combat system based around that would be a lot better than seeing him punch the shit out of someone. Maybe he has a boost slide kick into an enemy, a few moves to knock enemies far away or up, and defense is with a dodge that moves him way out of danger. Having him and the enemies move constantly would be a good way of making combat fit in with normal movement.

Sonic Team should copy Shinobi PS2
>>
It doesnt really need to exist in a mainline game. Put it in a spin off like a ARPG or something otherwise leave it out.

Pointless.

Sonic is way too stubby to have a battle system

Trash. Couldn't even play Frontiers for long because of this, and I love even the worst Sonic entries. All Sonic games with fighting mechanics have better combat than this one. Black Knight, Unleashed, Heroes, even Shadow 05 and 06. Not to mention Fighters and Battle are underrated even as far as fighting games go and show how both classic/modern style Sonic combat can work. No one asked for Sonic to copy DMC. You know it's bad if people basically avoid combat once they don't have to fight to progress the game and just run around. The hitstop is beyond frustrating, the animations are mid, and it feels so underwhelming to actually pull off moves. It's static, jagged and doesn't flow well at all. I really hope we don't get Frontiers 2, because they'll likely just double down on everything shitty they did for the first game. It may not even happen of course, since the last time we got an actual named sequel to a Sonic game that kept the same formula as the previous was...Sonic Boom, Fire & Ice, I believe? Unless you count Mania but it's really rather a reboot than a true sequel to the classic games. I'd rather have a sequel to literally ANY other Sonic game than Frontiers.

I only played the first Sanic, is combat just mashing the A button in the 3D ones?
>>
If they're going to keep going down this route they should probably just get Platinum to make a Sonic game.

Sonic Team should copy Sonic Adventure 1 and make a good game with a fucking chao garden.

A player boss with this combat would be fucking addicting.

Usually yes. The game in OP has some combos, a block/counter attack, a few special moves and an attack to use when an enemy knocks you far away. They sometimes try more complicated combat like that, but they aren't very good at it.
