SH2 is great, but it's a shame it pigeon-holed the the series into always being some form of personal torture. In SH1 it's implied the otherworld is a recent manifestation of Alessa attempting to disrupt the cult, the monsters are sourced from her imagination of things that scared her, and it's all experienced by Harry, an innocent who has literally zero personal understanding of the symbolism. I wonder if the popularity of SH2's setup is indicative of modern narcissistic trends. "Of course what's going on has to be about me and make sense to me." I had a public speaking class in college. We had to do embarrassing shit and give speeches in front of large groups of people. One guy in there was autistic to some degree and did a presentation on the music from Silent Hill 2, playing a few complete tracks during his speech, I think just to take up time and hit the time requirement, 15 or 20 minutes usually.
