This feels fucking awful, what the hell is everybody on about?

>D-pad is in the most cumbersome position imaginable for action games and shooters
>The vast majority of games I've encountered do not support emulating the d-pad on the right trackpad, so there's no way to get around this
>Awkwardly placed mushy back buttons that can't be locked like on the GameSAAR, so they're just constantly getting squished if your hands are larger than that of a Japanese woman

Nigger what? Games don't need to support shit. Steam input just works.
>Awkwardly placed mushy back buttons that can't be locked like on the GameSAAR, so they're just constantly getting squished
Not an issue. You'll get used to it and stop gripping hard enough to press them eventually.

I have small hands, but I've got no issues with it. Best positioned D-pad and buttons I've ever used.

I haven't had any issue with this.

Why would you buy buttons you don't want to use? Just set them to do nothing if you've got fat fingers, I find the pinky buttons to be too hard to press if anything.

The Steam Deck's back buttons are infinitely superior in form and function. The Steam Controller's back buttons getting pressed constantly unless you have a very precise hand grip feels awful. It makes the controller feel soft and unstable if you tense even a little.

>>
>>738928643
What I am pointing out is that this controller has dogshit ergonomics.
>>
>>738924573
First off, you have to be fucking retarded to not get either of the trackpads setup as the dpad. Genuinely it is one of the easiest things (tied with setting standard button presses to it) to do with them. I played some fightans with the dpad last night. It worked better than I expected with deck's dpad. I haven't used a controller for a fighter with motions for more than a decade by the way. I have not felt like I was going to accidently press the back buttons at all and they feel perfectly fine to use purposefully. My hands are definitely bigger than any 'standard' japanese person's hand kek

I can't get the puck to work. I heard someone say it only supports USB 3.0 which is fucking dogshit because my audio input needs that.

>>738928680

>>
>>738929039
I'm using it through USB 2.0 just fine
>>
>>738929097
I am looking at it from the perspective of the controller being designed around trying to squeeze the trackpads in rather than it actually being correctly sized to fit a human hand.
>>
>>738929203
I don't think you have human hands if you think you have to squeeze the trackpads
In fact I don't know how you're able to type without discomfort
>>
>>738929257

The games aren't supposed to support it, you map the inputs in steam which fools the game into thinking you're using the dpad when you're actually using the trackpad. That's the whole point of the controller, you can't force decades of old PC games into supporting a new thing but you can make the new thing adapt to those old games.

For me it's this. Has everything I need, rear paddles, l4/r4, dinput, xinput, switch input, hall effect, swappable face buttons (so I can actually use the correct layout for once), haptics, and gyro for those select few games which play best with a controller but still benefit from a mouse pointer in certain specific ways (Wii/Wii-U emulation for example). Those swappable stick caps are quite uncomfortable but I keep them on anyway because it's fun, plus you can pinch them between your thumb and index finger and have a mini lil joystick for retro shooters
