Alright /v/ros, I just started playing through the FF for the first time and now I'm on 3. Which one is /v/-core, do I do the pixel remaster or the 3D remake? Same question for 4 while I'm here.

3 NES translated is the smoothest classic experience but PR is close enough that it's okay. I prefer 3 on DS/PSP/phone/STEAM (psp personal preference, though all but DS are functionally identical) because I feel like it makes a lot of small improvements to the underlying systems. Onion knight bullshit in the first game blows, and while it's still a thing in the 3D release it requires you being near endgame (or spamming wifi messages on DS to get it early).I feel like equipment progression is a lot better, and some parts of the game are a bit more well tuned (vikings cove/nepto dragon in particular is less ballbusting) and there's still a lot of mini spam bullshit but it's a bit less, so you aren't forced to be a mage for like 85% of the game.
