I'm going to try and help OP out with an example that he can then maybe disagree with.I like games in the Ace Combat franchise.I think a 'meta argument' (one of several???) is that most of the titles in the series are fundamentally the same. We argue over which ones are better than other ones but an outsider might reasonably say "but they're all piss-easy games with horrendous English dubs carried by their ego-inflating storytelling and decent-to-good music".Another one would be 'Ace Combat is for babbies. Play a real flight sim' to which we'd say "Ace Combat does not fashion itself as a flight sim franchise. It has been self-described as a series of arcade flight shooting games. We just like planes."
