I'm kinda happy Kirby never really had that sort of rep where everyone is telling people how DARK and FUCKED the game is like how Earthbound fans always feel the need to say how fucked up Giygas is.

I feel its only really tourists which really linger on this stuff. Its kinda why when Sakurai did the Smash thing saying "we REALLY wanted Marx to be SCARY" it felt pretty cringe. Most Kirby Fans just enjoy the final bosses being over the top shonen slop without making a big deal about it.
