Numberfagging aside, what does everyone actually think of subnautica 2? Personally I dropped it for now, really wasn't a fan of how opinionated the ship AI was and I had constant microstutters that I don't get in any other game, I'll check it out again in a few years maybe
>>738936068I haven't played it yet and I will not play it in the future.
I like it.
i played about 4 hours yesterday. It feels like more of 1, in a not good and not bad way. It just feels like more. It's far better than subzero because of that, but I don't know that I like having spent $30, maybe $20 would be okay. We'll see how it improves over time.
>>738938478How the fuck do you get a scan of that piece of shit? He just immediately instakills you if you're outside of the tadpole. And you can't get close without him noticing.
>>738939440I have no idea because that's as close as I got. I happened to have the scanner out when I took the screenshot, I didn't intend to scan it.
>>738936068It's early access, so I don't fucking care. Wake me in 2 years when development is actually complete and we find out whether it will actually be an interesting game or an anti-human eco-worshipping work of agitprop.
>>738939664So far it's an interesting game. I don't see any woke stuff in it at all, and it has way more horror elements than you would think from the promotional material.
There's definitely a bunch more horror shit teased in the logs, but it's probably reserved for going deeper/ closer to the tree
>>738936068I think we need to wait literally fucking years for the actual game. Takes it's cues from one. Seems like better visuals than 1, worse audio. Nothing obviously retarded like in Below zero., >>738939828>>738940132I didn't notice any horror, but I also didn't bother reading shit. The closest it got to woke was having a white hispanic for a white dude.
Asmon played it for about 2hMeans its a shit game
>>738940132The tree is probably not that far away and then you will have to go deeper.
>>738940341Ok but like the entire point of the game for me is exploring and mapping stuff out and there isnt much of a map yet its just the shallowsI autistically place beacons for landmarks, and might even farm copper and titanium to lay out a literal grid of beacons every 100m
>>738936068Microstutters was a huge problem in the 1st one with asset loading in early access, made worse if you dont have a great grafix card, and they didn't fix it until they optimized late into the dev cycle. I wouldn't expect that to be fixed until it's about to leave EA or after it launches
>>738940329The leviathan is clearly meant to invoke terror, with sound queues and everything. Though spooky music coming on isn't nearly as effective as the reaper's roar from 1. And there's a bunch of messages about people going insane as they get closer to the tree.
Looks like it'll be fun after it's finished in 4-5 yearsI'll buy it then when it's 75% off
>>738940329There are some deep, mostly silent, pitch black areas. I don't think they're necessary for the plot yet but you can visit them and there is stuff there.
>>738940630>its just the shallowsIt's not. There's a big second part of the map that's alien ruins.
>>738940760LOL. Yeah I see it now. Too bad they fired the audio talent from one. What idiots. Music just made me think it's bossfight time, barely even any tension.
>>738936068It's only early access but so far it failed to capture the original's magic but it feels better than Below Zero at least.
>>738939828Woke stuff doesn't bother me per se, it is downstream of shit writing. There are a few voice logs that are very irritating. Preachy and sanctimonious. However all these smug fuckers plausibly went insane from the planet and died over and over again so I'll let it slide as possibly the mental degradation speaking through them.I'm fully prepared for the eye rolling schoolmarm lesson about AI being bad bad bad. These devs are just not very subtle about their themes and beliefs and THAT is what creates bad writing. Like I said, I'm not that bothered by woke shit in theory but the way it is always clumsily and handfistedly executed bothers me a lot.The game itself is very good. It also runs extremely well for me, even for an UE5 game. Never seen a single dip below 60 fps @ 1440 and high settings after 5 hours. 12700k 4080 32gb ddr4. Usually my shit intel gpu struggles with ue5 games a bit but this has not been the case.
>early accesswake me up when the game is releasedearly access is not a release its a show for investors aka players to buy their half finished product
>>738939828They've toned down the wokeness, but I'm more wary of a >We humans are the real monsters for using this wonderful natural world to feed our own hungerespecially with how heavily it's pushing Alterra and debt in the PDAs.
>>738940329>Takes it's cues from one. That's the funniest thing for me right now. It just looks like a mod of 1.
>>738941336But were you even around for 1's early access period?
>>738941391I agree with everything you're saying.I think from a business perspective they have to dumb it down because the average person who has a gaming device and wants to play a game isn't very smart and won't understand subtlety at all.Yeah performance is excellent. I'm on an i7 9700 with an RTX 2080 Super and it runs great. I do 1440 with DLSS upscaling and it runs very well, usually 60fps. Only just started getting microstutters in certain areas when using the speed upgraded tadpole, but it's not consistent. I haven't seen any pop-in at all, unlike in S1 and BZ on the same hardware.>>738941572I only half listen to the narration but so far I didn't get that impression. I mean just to survive you have to catch and eat a large number of fish. They added some vegetarian cooking recipes but the stats suck, so you're incentivised to catch and eat the fish.
I played the first one and my desire to do that died the moment I had my base set up with with all survival related problems solved.
>had a friend who enjoyed subnautica 1 as much as me>havent talked to him in 2 yearsdang
>>738936068It's just survival slop, isn't it? Gather shit, build base, gather more shit. I fail to see the appeal.
>>738941651The best thing about 2 won't be the worldbuilding. It'll be the multiplayer.
>>738941838No, that's why I started with it's only early access.
>>738942240you can also make a store and sell stuff and build an underwater business
>>738942447It's already a lot more coherent than Subnautica 1's early access at the same stage. Sure, they're not reinventing the wheel, but the magic didn't really come together until later in that game either.
>>738940864Ok I just saw those but got scared because the leviathan was between me and themI assumed it was just this circular shelfEven still that other area isnt that big. Its early access and thats okay
>>738941572The survivors here in audio logs are from 26 years ago. The AI is reprinting people without their memories because they die within 3 months from heavy metal poisoning in the water. I suspect initially it allowed them to save updated versions of themselves until they wanted to rebel, then deemed that harmful to the mission. Some of them broke out and tried to escape and started blowing shit up.
>>738936068The tags on steam are all memes and red flags so i just avoid those games.
>>738936068>constant microstuttersthe UE5 curse, they'll never fix that
>>738941572>They've toned down the wokeness, but I'm more wary of a>>We humans are the real monsters for using this wonderful natural world to feed our own hungerWithout spoilers I'll just say there's a well defined, concrete evil in the game's story and it's not humans. It's explained pretty well by in the game once you get far enough.
will Cyclops return?
>>738947495World seems big enough to accommodate a cyclops sized sub. I bet they designed the world with that in mind.
Subnautica 2 is just Subnautica mixed with Hollow Knight. No, I will not elaborate.
I like it a lot, but once you get the tadpole it does become pretty obvious that the game is still in EA. The map really isn't that big, but whatever. The foundation is still extremely solid. What remains to be seen is what they do from now on, and if they can manage to make a better game than the first one with this foundation.>>738940341no one cares kys>>738947495There was an audiolog that mentioned them using a submarine, not a tadpole. They even mention the tadpole by name in that very log. The devs also said during the 3h livestream that a big cyclops was going to return, but that it would happen in the future.
>>738947805Let me guess: the passives or the excessive audiologs?
>>738939440Does this game have the stasis rifle? That was the easiest method for scanning anything big and deadly in 1
>>738947895Hollow Knight didn't have audio logs. The passive system, Metroidvania gameplay loop (grab power up to explore a new area to grab a new power up to ... ), and the plotline being about exploring a lost society that went mad all make Subnautica 2 feel more like Hollow Knight.
>>738936068Asmongold liked Subnautica 2, so therefore I like Subnautica 2 as well.
>>738947495Not sure, the devs say there will be a bigger sub at some point in the game.

Have any of you played the fucking game? You cam't hurt anything and they lecture you the second you get your impotent little hatchet thingy about guns bad. I mean fine lecture me with your frooty QI roboto i dont care, but taking away the ability to hurt all life? What commie wrote this? Seth dickinson, thats who. I like the overall hints at a story, i hope they let you hurt creatures or give you some fucking weapons like in the last two games. How is this even survival if the only thing that can die is you? But youre immortal...sooo what the fuck.
>>738940329>white hispaniche's not hispanic
>>738947495>>738947848Some cyclops sized vehicle just makes sense. The OG cyclops was designed with multiplayer in mind before they realized how bad their spaghetti code was and that multiplayer would never work.
>>738948883To add on to my point, they are explicitly saying in posts and the live sesh the other night before release that you shouldn't be able to hirt anything at all... but that's bullshit because they AT THE SAME TIME tout how the creatures will fight each other more than in the 1st game and there will be random chaos... but nothing can die right now... and not only that but many of these creatures do NOTHING if you hit them with a vehicle or stab them woth your hatchet they dont even make sounds.... i hope that is not permanent because that is bullshit.
The good>it's fun>lots of quality of life improvements over the previous game>the minisub is good, makes me look forward to the other vehicles they will add. >basebuilding has improved a lot>that feel of exploration is still in the game>survival is not that different from the first gameThe bad>the world feels empty at the moment, not a lot of variety in biomes>your character moves a lot slower then in the first game. >the hostile fish are more anoying then anything else>it's dumb that we arent on the same planet from the first game, they wrote themselfs in a corner with the sub zero shit game so they had to go to another planet. >all the lifeforms in the game feel kind of off because i was used to the lifeforms of the first game. >feels like it's only 1/3 a game so farThank god i pirated it.
>>738947848>The devs also said during the 3h livestream that a big cyclops was going to return, but that it would happen in the future.I hope they do a modular customizable ship like the corvette in NMS or the ships in Starfield.
>>738948572has anyone noticed that Asmongold's circle of collab streamers and friends have shrunken dramatically as of late?4 years ago or so he had dozens of streamers/friends he talked to or collabed, but now it's like only 1 or 2 people he actually collabs with or talks to.what's going on? Has he alienated most of them?
>>738949073The bad>animals aren't the sameYou have tism. This is the best part>you swim slowerSomeone didn't get the dash and ground skimmer. You move faster with those perks and wavemaker than in the fucking tadpole.
>>738948883Honestly I get their choice, it's consistent with the first game. The only things there that were really worth killing, besides the fish you eat for food, were the annoying crabs on the islands and the wreck of the Aurora. Everything else was too tame to spend the effort on or it was too tedious or dangerous to spend time killing them with the knife. They only really let you kill things grudgingly. That said, while I am fine not killing anything I would prefer being able to slap around the annoying nibbler mangoes a bit more easily to show them who's boss because they are a nuisance. They should probably give the hammer a touch more reach and swing speed.
>>738949213His org of botted night media frauds have all been exposed and fractured into pieces. Nothing that glows is built to last.
>>738942240Subnautica doesn't really fall into this because it keeps you moving, so continually expanding and returning to a single base is impractical. I found myself making dozens of tiny structures that basically consisted of a scanning room and a power source, and two medium sized structures to upgrade vehicles/replenish food and water at. Having an actual goal that you're trying to reach does a great job at preventing it from just being base slop compared to something like ARK.
>>738948883>>738949056You can actually blast some things with a later tool. Also you literally grill fish and squeeze slugs for sustenance. Hell, you can eat both raw if you're really desperate. So it's not exactly some pacifist utopia, specially when the rest of the story is currently being told.I'd say the little speech when you get the multitool is mostly to tell you you can't defend yourself or slowly hack away at stuff while exploiting the enemy ai with it, unlike the first game.
>>738949253Normies try and say spastic retconny commie shit like this and then you question them why subnautica 1 devs spent time and resources doing meticulous death animations for all creatures..if they never intended for you to hurt them. ... nevermind the fact you could day one on jul 9 2014 kill everything in the game with yoyr knife and there were animations already in for that.... fucking NON-GAMERS are a plague. Be gone.
>>738949463I didn't like how I could just stun and then knife some huge sea monster to death with a few swipes. Seemed dumb. If they're going to make the bigger sea creatures killable it should require big weapons.
>>738949213turns out when you're angry all the time and talking about politics 24/7 you can alienate alot of people and become a liability.Only folks who seem to put up with Asmon's antics is Rich (no surprise) and Emiru.I have no fucking idea why Emiru still hangs with Asmon.I still miss the old Asmon playing WoW with Esfand and Mcconnel.
>>738949463Most creatures don't have death animations beyond just ragdolling in the water though. Besides the cave crawler and the warper there's nothing in the game with a dedicated death animation, and the game draws attention to the fact that you're not going to get a handheld weapon stronger than a small knife for the whole game. You really think that picking away at a reaper leviathan until it ragdolls in the water was actually an intended way to play the game and not something the game heavily disincentivises? Please get real.
>>738949642I would be FINE if you couldn't kill big stuff, but I can't kill a slowly lumbering juvenile sunfish? I can't kill a small fish? They had that awesome upgradable heat knife in the 1st game, remember? Its warm glow made me feel just a little safer when I was in the terrifying jelly combs deep below 400m in the 1st game.. so far im liking the story telling and art direction and sound and game performance. Im surprised my ancient 3060 can get 30fps on high.
>>738949253Being able to smack an annoying fish with your knife so it runs away for a bit and you can actually scan the shit you're here for is an integral part of the first game. I cannot imagine how you would be meant to deal with the swarms of bone sharks in the floating island if you couldn't make them go away for a minute or two since they are dangerous and persistent.
>>738949773>Only 2 fucking things have death animationsLying commie is a liar. Whoaaaaaaaa.https://youtu.be/NwFHanFHJuc?si=hChygOPL77sFJkOZ almost whole 4 minutes of dozens of death animations.... get rekt.
>>738949835It feels like flanderization of the violence in the first game.
>>738941520timer set for 4 years.
>>738949773When you're in a prawn with the grappler and a drill and a big fish comes at you, the most obvious thing to do is grapple it and drill it to death, and it's very cheesy and feels wrong. Especially when the fish tries to swim away and the grapple drags the prawn along with it instead of holding the fish back.>>738949835The heat knife made no sense. How did it have an infinite heat source built in?But yeah, it would be nice to be able to damage or even kill the bigger fish somehow. Not confident they're ever going to add that in though.
Am I very dumb or there's just no inventory space on the tadpole?
>>738936068Pretty goodThe autist hippie is inarguably a villain this time around. They kind of spill too much of the plot in just this segment so I doubt the story is going to have much left to reveal besides explaining WHY did (presuambly) Noa jump to this planet instead of taking the (potentially last remnants) of humanity to a safe planet instead. There's a not small chance that the twist is that we were the villain all along.Building wise, it's more Subnautica. I like the idea of the water lockers being attachable to shit. Basebuilding is far better. The hostile fauna are more varied as well. It's interesting seeing them actually eat each other now. Also relatively more ways to interact with them to get them to fuck off>Flare>Resonator>Stealth mod>Electric Discharge mod>Chum Cloud modStealth itself might be a bit busted. The collector leviathan will just let you repair your ship in piece. >>738950220No inventory. It's kind of like the seamoth but I haven't seen storage upgrades for it that isn't just equipping the hauler chassis. Thankfully you can attach the portable locker to it
>>738950220You can attach a small portable storage chest to the back.
>>738950220Hoop it
>>738949990This is below zero, not the game that I was even talking about, and even if it was it just proves my point. Oh wow, the creatures twitch a bit and roll over onto their side before they ragdoll, clearly this shows that murdering everything in the game is the correct way to play. Notice that the actual large and dangerous creatures don't even have any death animation whatsoever and just go straight to ragdoll? You're a fucking retard, get out of here.
>>738950287>>738950283Thank you based anonymousWhy the fuck did the game never tell me that

>>738950463it did say you can attack to it to a hardpointbut that's not really obvious I supposeWhen you build a tadpole or something it should say you can attach additional storage if needed, imoAny quality of life improvements and not having shit hidden or obscure for these types of games make it more fun
>>738950463I was watching a stream and the first time the guy picked up a portable locker, it said "You can carry this, or you can attach it to a hardpoint"Very easy to miss that information, and you would have to know what a "hardpoint" is, which is not obvious unless you're a milfag like meSo it kinda told you about it, but not reallyYou're justified in your frustration
>>738950408Are his veins in sanskrit?
>>738950463The only reason I even picked it up is because I kept replaying the voicelog when it was talking about hardpoints "What the fuck is a hardpoint?" then I accidentally attached a beacon to it and felt kind of retarded. It's neat that you can attach a beacon, but it's more space efficient to just take beacon materials and put them in a locker so you can have your resource beacon AND still get your storage locker.
I don't think I like the removal of the specific utility rooms. They helped add variation to the outside look, and the new way to make the vehicle pool just fells awkward.
>>738950446WRONG! https://youtu.be/HzEkmz7ObAs?si=d9e_d4CnaQO6htwR
>>738950768I miss the utility room for a different reason. That being that I'm not creative and if you give me the ability to make a block I'm going to make a block. So I made a block, an emergency biofuel power block, and a farm for both.
>>738942360>subnautica game>multiplayer>goodpick only 2
>>738950496There's content but it's obviously not finished yet. The parts that are there are good and somewhat fleshed out, but they story clearly runs out prematurely. There's the shallows where you start which are solid, then a deeper alien area which is somewhat fleshed out but has some empty stuff still (maybe it's meant to be empty though), and there's a hint of a much deeper area though the only thing down there for now is part of the ship you arrived on the planet in. The story implies there will be more content toward the big tree thing, and it's a long way away so that would be a lot of game world if they add it in.

I uninstalled the game yesterday cause I thought I'm not gonna play anymore, but I got a new itching to play and reinstalled and now my save is gone?
So i'm not that far in but the story is very obvious i think. >colony ship crashlands on ocean planet>AI prints some colonists to start colony>colonists die fast because the planet is pure posion to humans>AI just keeps reprinting the same people to bruteforce a colony>print colonist keep finding dead bodies of themselfs and stuff build by them they dont remember >colonist realize they are stuck in a loop of getting printed and dying for a very long time now. >they revolt against the AI and stop the AI and then die for the final time>then at some point in the future the part of the ship you are printed on at the start of the game was reactivated by a atack of a sea monster. >and the loop starts again and you have to stop it. >and the plants are alive and can talk to you.
Any cool places to build a base deeper in?

I really miss the insanly good soundtrack of the first game.

The SeaTruck was actually a good Vehicle.Playing without it has made me realize how much I miss that damned thing. It was customizable, and I could use it like a mobile base. I could undock it to scout/explore. I could dock a Prawn Suit on it. It had storage. It had a fabricator. It even had a Teleporter and a Bed module. Not having my mobile command base feels bad. And not having a power suit makes me sad.

>>738936068I've heard you can't kill the fish in this one. Like at all. I'd be fine if it were the leviathans, asuming there's a safe way to scan them, but it's literally every fish. It's not the same if I can't commit vehicular sashimi by seamoth or knife a stalke/bone shark to fuck off.

>>738956543What was even the point of structural integrity? It feels like a leftover mechanic from when critters could attack your base.

After it crashed twice in 15 minutes and people are beating it in a bit more than 10 hours I decided to wait.Looks and feels better than Below Average already, so I'm definitely going to play it at some point, but not now.
>>738956534it's not bad. But honestly it's more "atmospheric" than it is memorable. They're using music queues for areas and actions so the dynamic nature helps color the adventure but they're severely lacking in some actual earworms.
>>738957171Very atmospheric when the boss battle theme kicks in suddenly when the big bad aggros you. Really immersive.
>>738956808but you can always add foundations or reinforce parts of your base. there were really no limits, you just had to add X amount of support pieces.they may add it back into the game but base building clearly isnt complete yet.
>>738939828No woke stuff? lol
>>738956972BZ is great now. It's probably the best game, in terms of polish and gameplay. The only issue BZ has is that it's story is so unbelievable and ludicrous. Like you're telling me these scientists are really out here doing all this work? Driving around with giant sea monsters and snow stalkers? With no security team or weapons/defensive? It's just silly.Subnautica 1 had a way better story, with more believable characters and setting. The only characters in BZ that get a pass are Robin and Margueirt. Because Main Character, and Marg's character is that she is a badass survivor/mercenary.

>>738958175That's why early access sequels are generally not a great idea. The sequel has to compete with it's own feature-complete predecessor, which makes it look bad. It's worse when the sequel is aiming for high fidelity visuals because that hinders the ability to rapidly iterate based on player feedback.
>>738957913I mean it depends on later stuff. I mean you can kill anything in S1 with a stasis rifle and like 30 gas pods even the void ghosts.
>>738936068Is there a mod so the players look a bit more normal?
>>738959213They don't have anything even remotely comparable. the squid is borderline friendly.
I played sn1 all through beta/ea. here are my thoughts since i'm actually engaged in the game and not pol bullshit+ zone 1 is overall really good, feels amazing in that its similar to sn1, but different. some really great monster designs like both of the minor threats, and medium threat+ many systems improved, biomod is cool conceptually despite being (intentionally) undereveloped atm+ building system is SSS tier, linked inventory is insane+ story seems like it could be really cool, I care more than in 1 or bz- zone 2 is clearly not finished, lots of empty space, void walls, and the alien housing is terrible and soulless if finished- you move pretty slow overall, which is ok for EA 1, but by EA 2/3 I really hope there are substantial movement speed buffs- I do not really like the tadpole, but I guess I don't dislike it- gameplay loop of get audio cue, go see it, repeat was too strict in zone 2
>>738936068FOTM friendslop sequel of a game that was just good enough to warrant potentially checking out a sequel for a gaming normie, that strikes a careful ballance between comfortpunk and horrorcore. Still EA, riding high off a "win" after a shit ton of controversy, streamers are slopping it, and goyttle wanna be a part of the crowd. Also can't forget fucking nothing has come out since RE9 all the way back in February.
I had to refund subnautica 1 because I feel really unconfortable when I look down into the depths of the water and I just couldnt make any progress on the game, I will probably feel the same thing about this one so I wont buy it.
>>738960316>>738959672Was the reaper introduced at the very early access in SN1 or added later? They might just add a big fish at later updates I suppose?
>>738959213I went to about 650m deep where it was pitch black and the music stops and it's open water below you. Heard a loud monster noise so I went back up. Never found out what made the noise.>>738958973>What?The moonpool is a gigantic hole in your base. What do you think stops the water from rushing in? Air pressure. So if the base is already pressurized from the inside with air, which it is since you can build the moonpool, then it doesn't make sense that you would have to reinforce it against the water pressure, because the air is pushing just as hard outward as the water is pushing inward.>>738960554Yeah S2 already has a few areas which are worse about that than S1. I love it but I guess some people don't like that.
>>738959213There isn't one yet. The Collector looks menacing but it just swims around. It was annoying having to scan it to progress. Like, I get having to do it to get the code for the Tadpole Garage but the fucker is fast.

>>738939440Once you get the upgraded Bio Scanner, scan the Bulletheads (little red faggots that hangout on cliffs and ram you around the alien tower), they give you a passive biomod that literally turns your invisible if you stop moving. I just chased after the Collector until it aggro'd, stopped, then let him basically pass through me while I scanned him.I had the Electric Gordie active biomod that lets you emit a defensive shock but it didn't seem to do anything to him so I'd suggest using the the Dash to chase him down better.

Final thoughts. In the end it will be a more polished experience than subnautica but it will never come close to the podium that Subnautica sits on. Story is retarded.Progression is streamlined so retards don't get lost.Base building is way better. Graphics look great. The way the fauna interact is pretty cool. Completely misses the mark on any sense of fear, possibly intentional. Audio is completely fucked. I think that's why they have danger music for the big bad rather than having the big bad make any noises. You would have to be retarded to buy this in EA rather than waiting for it to be finished.

>>738968903it's far worse on many levels. worse music, worse character design, worse interior design, mega dogshit performance, atrocious writing that calls you stupid for exploring instead of speed running every objective, there's no way to deal with annoying and aggressive enemies, there's no randomly placed metals and ores they are all off in specific locations that require you to follow the story and discourages exploring. the game forces you to build rather than explore and play at your own leisure and set your own pace. It's worse than below zero as well. the tadpole is awful, terrible cockpit design compared to seamoth, far worse handling cuckpod. I hate this game. I wish I pirated this game. >>738974364>we're not gonna let you kill everything>WOW THIS ISNT FREEDOM AT ALLthe things that make subnautica 1 are the environments, the exploration, the whole aesthetic of the ocean and for a lot of people, the tension of entering a truly open abyss where you cant see shit for hundreds of meters or going deep into the dark. freedom isn't always a good thing in games, sometimes its okay to constrain the things players can do for an intended experience.
>>738974694>Pulling pants down to masturbateThe game should let me masturbate in my pants. Shit game.

I found conduit crystal early on by accident and now I can't find it again. I want those flippers.
Seems like the devs are confused between intended and allowed. In Subnautica 1, it's not intended that you kill many of the game's fish. Most of them run when hit or have massive health pools making it clear you're not actually supposed to fight them to the death. It's more of an annoyance to fight them than to either, skirt around, or smack them to make them leave. But you are ALLOWED to kill them. With enough time and determination, you can kill everything. Even driving around in the Seamoth and Cyclops you'll occasionally run into a fish and it will splatter against your windshield. Depending on the fish too, you can get out and pick it up for food. In Subnautica 2, though, you're not allowed to kill or even damage anything. This is not only immersion breaking, but a MASSIVE downgrade on interacting with the world from the first game. If I walked into my local pond with a fucking hammer and started beating some fish with it, they would most certainly be fucking dead or scared to approach me. This is really my biggest and only gripe about the game right now. I really hope they change it.
>>738975806people dont understand that and its frustating, you should be allowed to kill everything, just... a massive shore to do, but it would be fun
There better be some REAL scary looking leviathan motherfuckers in the deeper biomesThese guys are fucking clowns
>>738975689Found it, there's more later on.
i finished the game and i noticed that its very fucking confusing to find resources in this game, i liked how in subnautica 1 it was more random, and it was pretty much in every biome, now you are forced to look for specific places, i hate that, its harder to find it
>>738973512this is the same thing happened when silksong dropped. You can smell the amount of fomo fucks never interested in the genre they are larping in

>>738963836The one in the Tadpole garage right? Yeah that one wasn't printable due to a lack of resources in the area to work with, not because of infection.
Cyclops was the best part of the original game. I hope they add a submarine like it to 2.
>>738981639it's Trident now
How do they improve on 2? More vehicle diversity? Mobile base vehicle? (Setruck or Cyclops)? More Gene perks? Diverse playstyles? Mech versus Bio-Enhancement playstyles? More mechs/power suits like the Prawn Suit? Also, I think Sub2 has the best base building of all 3 games so far.
>>738981776the base building in SN2 really is a total win
After doing all the EA content I autistically decided to try to see what was at the bottom of the crater where you start the game by chaining power transmitters to little 1-corridor bases along the side of the crater wall to act as oxygen checkpoints. Turns out the max depth there is 754m but I did find pic related
>>738982026Nice, you saved me the trip. I got down to 650m with three elevators and two extra air tanks (you can swap them while swimming) but got scared when I heard the loud monster noise and didn't want to lose all my gear so I came back up.
I want a big submersible vehicle that lets dock and deploy various smaller vehicles and power suits. So that I can draw from a versatile armory for different niche scenarios. Fir instance, in BZ, anytime I had to go caving I setup my seatruck in a safe location. And then detached my prawn suit and began spelunking with it and my sea glide. As zones got complicated and resource intense, I would even setup a small base, so I could create a more reliable HUB to funnel all my resources to. I hope sub2 lets me get a similiar gameplay loop once it's complete.
>>738980441OST is full of bangers too
>>738939664>anti-human eco-worshipping work of agitprop.Oh God, please make the rich richer and me poorer and also ruin all the nature around me! Being against that is so woke
>>738936068I'm not buying a nigger and woman infested game. They're also now willing to fake sales to customers the en masse on steam and flood positive reviews, so steam reviews no longer count for me on launch. They're flooding good reviews but the YouTube videos show the game to be kind of rubbish, is a streamlined game which means they dumbed it down for console.
>>738940801Fuck that. Pirate.
>>738971302It wouldn't fly in a US court either. Quit being a partisan faggot.
i HATED the seatruck compared to the cyclops. but i also hated having to manually move shit on and off the cyclops. though the docking station for the seatruck in bz was probably the coolest feature in that game. being able to actually dock my fucking seatruck to my base and seamlessly climb aboard it from my base was peak. anyways bring back the cyclops or something equivalent and give it more cool features.
>>738936068Craftybuilders are inherently boring, the writing and voice acting is horrendous and it feels very empty.

I played Subnautica after it got a proper release. I know that 2 is also EA, but how EA is it really? Is it like the first EA versions of Subnautica? Remember the terrain tool?
I'm sure the game will be great in 3-4 years when it's finished. As it is right now though, it's got less features than either of the other 2 games. At least, what we have plays great. Aside from when an enemy gets a hard-on for you, and you can't hit it back and tell it to fuck off.

>>738936068>and I had constant microstuttersTry running the game in windowed fullscreen instead of fullscreen. I only had stutter before I switched
>>738988881It's just dishonest framing. SN2 was initially revealed to be in development in 2022. Some fags try to pretend that since SN1 released 8 years ago, the devs had been working on SN2 since, ignoring the fact that unkown worlds have released 2 games in the mean time.

Is it bad like Below Zero or decent like Subnautica?
>>738992061Decent like subnautica 1. I guess they did get the message that bz was sorta shit.
>>738992061Not as good as subnautica 1, not as bad as BZ, but still feels very empty.
bros who've reached the second area: how much is there to do over there? i don't feel like hauling material past the gay squid a bunch of times to setup a new base if im going to do 1 or 2 more things and bonk into a "more content soon! promise!" message
>>738992785You mean the alien area? Well, there isn't much there, for sure, so not worth the effort.
>>738992061the below zero gayness is less present in the main story, still present in random PDA logs. it's not as spoopy and atmospheric as 1, but it's hard to recreate that feeling for the first time. not sure if it's really worth endlessly chasing that dragon, but a bit of a disappointment nonetheless. it feels like you have to spend a lot longer without the seamoth/seatruk equivalent but as soon as you get the tadpole you feel pretty invincible vs everything but leviathans which was something bad about BZ too.

Thats all I can say at the moment, even though I don't have high hopes. Granted I don't have high hopes for anything these days. Maybe we can get a dedicated Tadpole Garage that is both a Dock and Vehicle Fabricator so you could store and swap out Chassis easier. Also wish they would let you prefabricate stuff for easier outpost building Rather than bring X of Y resources, you could build the parts at your base and compact them (To something smaller than the resources needed for it), then take that to where you want to build and plop it down. >>739004559Not the worst I've seen on here.
>>739004701Certainly but it doesn't make it acceptable.
>>738936068Subnautica 1 was my GOTY 2016 and I played it throughout EA, never touched Below Zero. I played the first couple hours of 2 the other night, here’s a few things I’d have wanted to know, coming from familiarity with the original:- It runs really well. Haven’t seen any of the infamous pop-in from the first. I’ve gotten a consistent 60fps at 1080p with a 1080ti on medium settings with certain things turned up to max, like view distance.- It is not on 4546B, totally different planet with entirely different ecology and rules to learn, but if you know S1 well you’ll have an edge in what sort of things to do in your first hour. - The opening sequence is really strong. Better than the Aurora crash and doesn’t just feel like a rehash of the castaway premise.- I haven't noticed any asset re-use even for returning things like the scanner/flashlight and resources like Titanium and Quartz.- There's some nice QoL, especially the Fabricator being able to craft from all containers in the building it is placed in.- There's now biological abilities you slot in and out: passives like slower O2 consumption while not moving, faster swimming when near the ocean floor and actives on a short cooldown like a quick dash in any direction and a pheromone trail to lead you to your next objective.- The cheeky dark Alterra/PDA humor is very much still here. Writing quality in databank entries is on point.- I haven't seen anything particularly scary but the writing tone and audio design feels scarier than the original, and in a new direction. The only clearly unpolished/unfinished thing so far is that some flora/fauna have placeholder databank entries. My guess is that development is going to focus on adding literal depth and plot progression. The EA release date this week was supposedly 99,999 hours after the EA release date of the original in December 2014 as a reference to the projected rescue after the Aurora crash.
>>739004489I don't think so.
>>739004997>I LOVE subnautica >but I didn't play BZ>here's what's great about sub2!!!marketer-kun you don't blend in.
>Players will not be given any weapons; Unknown Worlds' design intent is for them to learn to live alongside creatures rather than eliminate threats. You vill be raped by Needler Mangos forever, it's for diversity
>>739005739I for one feel no need to kill things I can't eat in one sitting. If they attack me, they must be hungry also.
>>739005727>avoiding the awful offshoot game is a sign you didn't love the original. That's like saying if you didn't play Clear Sky you didn't love STALKER, or avoiding DMC2 means you don't love DMC. What logic is that?
Is there any sort of conclusion or ending, or is it abrupt? I hate not finishing games so if I can't finish it, I won't start it, or buy it.
>>739005910early access should be all the hint you need
>>739005891If you played sub 1 throughout early access and loved it, you would have jumped in on BZ early access and been burned.you do not blend in mr marketer.
>>738936068Shan't be buying
Has anyone actually found Deepwing Egg Clumps?
>>738939664>anti-human eco-worshipping work of agitprop.Imagine being so contrarian that you end up thinking that we need to pollute the environment even more. KYS you quintuple nigger.
>>739006552I would kill all life on earth forever if it made a single lib uncomfortable for even a nanosecond.
>>739006219Well I'm sorry to say you're objectively wrong because that didn't happen. BZ was obviously terrible from the start because of its premise of you having help overhead talking to you and sending you things. Killed the castaway vibe.
>>739006824>i bought subnautica when it had literally 0 content>played it throughout the years>loved it >I did not immediately buy their next gameyou don't blend in.
>>739004997I'm going to wait until it's fully out, but I pray the writing wont be the same as in BZ. I found it immersion breaking and you were able to collect story pieces in the "wrong" order and basically ruin any build up. Except the ending sequence I guess, but I didn't enjoy that one either.
>>739007150>if you exercise any form of judgement or caution and don't blindly buy games, you are not a real fanBruh.
this game fuckin sucks fuck you
>>738995089Only 3 zones were at 800m or below
>>738995089The majority of the game is above 900 meters, fucktard. The last 2 zones are relatively small and the lost river is just a branching tube.
