Am I wasting my time (more than usual) trying to beat 40 year old games without save states? Even with the hobby of video games, is it the most pointless endeavor?

it's entertainment. it's all pointless aside from deriving pleasure

If you use save states, you didn't beat the game

why care how someone else plays a game. do you enjoy watching people beat games, are you like a video game cuck?

If you want to do it, then do it.
If you don't, stop. It's as simple as that.

I'm not sure about that. Some entertainment provides more value than others. I'm concerned there could be more to gain from playing a new game compared to an old one.

If I'm mostly trying to beat the outdated old game because I'm stubborn, does that still count as "want to"?
>>
Do it with retrocheevos support, makes it more satisfying.

Depends on a game. GnG already has a shitton of checkpoints, but play the arcade version instead.
