Why do people hate the RTX 5080 so much?
>>
Mostly because it heats my room too much.
I can only game in the winter now
>>
>>738940127
its a $1200 card that still needs DLSS slop to hit 120 FPS. what kind of retard would pay that
>>
>>738940243
Undervolt. My 5070ti was also making my room way too hot, fixed it with a few clicks.
>>
>>738940653
>Now it's worse than a 4080
>>
>>738940127
Weird meme. The 5080 is not 25% more expensive, it's 10% more expensive which makes sense if it's 10% better than the 5070 Ti.
I find the 5080 at 1100€, the 5070 Ti at 950€, more or less.

A small undervolt does jack shit to your performance. NTA but I undervolted my 4070 and it barely even needs to spin the fan even doing AI and it's easier on the card so hopefully it'll last until video cards are normal again
>>
>>738940127
5080 is the equivalent of 1440p resolution, the c u c k e d middle ground
>>
>>738941035
Is there a reason to do that on a 3060 Ti or is it more for higher end cards?
>>
>>738940127
The 5080 is an IQ test, it's sold with such an awful voltage curve/tuning that only retards who can't undervolt/oc hate it because the stock performance is kind of ass but it OCs like an old school gpu from the good old days.
>>
>>738940127
Because it's only 10% better while being 25% more expensive
>>
>>738940127
I only changed my 2080 Super for 5070 because I'm playing on a 85 inch 4k tv now and wanted a new PC that would fit horizontally into a tv stand. Don't really give a fuck otherwise, the modern ultra-realistic zoomer AAA trash isn't worth playing.

>>
>>738941097
>Is there a reason to do that on a 3060 Ti
Yes. NVidia sets the voltage way higher than it needs to be so that even shit silicon will be able to hit their target clockrates and they don't have to bin as much, so most cards can be undervolted quite a bit and get better temps (which makes more headroom to overclock).
>>
I bought my 5080 for €1000, the 5070 Ti wasn't available so I decided to spend a little more

I won one in a twitter giveaway at launch but only used it for a couple of weeks before putting my 7900 XTX back in because the drivers were beyond fucked back then. I'll switch back once I want to play something that needs ray tracing.

then returned that shit and got a Radeon 9600 instead god the FX 5200 was so ass

boughted a GeForce 2070 to play Cyberpunk

Just upgraded my AM4 build after 7 years, didn't even think I'd do that considering the absolute state of pc hardware right now but I snagged a 5600xt and a rx 9060xt 16gb for 530€. Sold off my 2070s and 3700x and the whole upgrade cost me under 400€. That's pretty solid. I also wanted to try out the AMD GPU meme for a couple of years to see if I make the switch for my next proper build and so far so good. Now I game on 1440p 144hz and with how shit games are optimized nowadays I'm already underpowered for my target res but I'm mostly chilling in CS2 and not interested in AAA garbage anyways. I'll slum it out for a couple more years until hopefully shit becomes affordable again at some point.

>>738940127
where are you guys getting your prices? at microcenter a 5070ti is 1000-1100 bucks, a 5080 is 1500-1900.
>>
>>738948631
As a noob I think it comes down to this. Nvidia releases a new gen of cards every few years. There was the 2000 series, 3000, 4000 and now the 5000. Each gen has a few different variants, like a X060, X070, X080, X090 - that go up in power successively.

Basically, each new successive gen seems to have better comparability for whatever new technology they're showcasing. I think for the batch I listed above, it started with DLSS scaling, then Ray Tracing, but has become increasingly AI focused. The whole point of the 5000 series is that it's good at AI frame gen, and modern DLSS abilities.

It seems like the contentious issue is the price and availability of these cards. With the whole "AI bubble", which probably isn't a bubble but the reality of the situation, these cards were snatched up by data centers en masse so they're worth thousands of dollars more than they would normally be.
>>
>>738948631
nvidias newest graphics cards RTX 5070ti and RTX 5080. 5070ti was at 750$ launch price, 5080 was 1000$.
The difference in power between the two wasn't that big of a gap . Rtx 5080 is superior in running games in 4K , 5070ti at original price was a good pick.
>>
>>738949152
idk but I got my 5080 for $2000 local dollarydoos which is roughly $1200 burgers.
5070 was $1700 and 5070TI was $1985.
>>
Its a shitshow of a card in both performance and VRAM. Its basically too expensive for what it offers. These days its become insanely so (I can't believe that when I bought my 5090 Astral at $2800 I'd think I was getting a deal. I was annoyed with the pricing but it was only a couple hundred over cards that didn't have I WILL NOT BLOW UP monitoring on their top end $2500/2600 cards at the time. I bought another Astral for a friend at $3300 and figured he wanted one at the worst possible time and they'd be dropping back to $2800 or less , only for them to be $4000 today!)

Anyway, If you want a higher end gaming card for cheaper get a 5070Ti 16GB or or preferably a much cheaper AMD 9070XT. If you don't care about the money an want a big purchase for big performance, get a 5090 and get a fuckload of VRAM too. Its funny, everyone thought
>Surely the 5080 would have 24GB VRAM to make up for the 90 now having 32!
but they didn't even make a "super / Ti" version and instead just keep jacking the price because Nvidia is a shitshow and our economy is even more so.
>>
>>738949152
damn you're right, I didn't realize the prices were starting to hike up
honestly it's why I had no qualms dropping extra money on the (at MSRP) 5080 because I knew with AI I would be able to sell it for equal or more value than I got it. if you time it right then you can get basically a free upgrade for the next generation.

>>

>>

>>738940127
I got a prebuild on sale right as the RAM crisis hit and it was $2k for an msi with an rtx 5080, ryzen 9900x, 32gb of Ram and 2 tb ssd.
If I were buying a card only I'd go AMD.
>>
>>738942414
Is a 5070 really that weak? I have 2 PCs, my old one and my new one basically. Old one has a 3080 Ti, new one a 4090, both have 4k monitors. The 3080 Ti feels like it struggles with DLSS Performance (1080p rendering) and WITHOUT RT.
>>
>>738940127
It's a very expensive card that can't run modern games maxed out without framegen so what's the fucking point?
>>
>>738952457
5080 pulls too much power to be bearable as is, 5090 does doubly so. The heat and noise aren't worth the frames.
>>
>>738952369
>because it’s not good enough for 4k
Just use DLSS Quality for the few games that don't run well in 4k. The vast majority will run just fine.
>>
>>738940703
The 5070Ti is $750 and the 5080 is $100) minimum, so it's actually 33% more expensive based on MSRP. In practice it's usually $400+ more, so even worse value.
>>
>>738952457
Because the 5090 is a genuinely dangerous product that has a tendency to self-combust?
>>
>>738952862
>5080 pulls too much power to be bearable as is
I have it and I've never seen it consume more than 300W, and it's supposedly 360W. I've already set the power limit to 83% and increased the core clock by 200MHz and the memory clock by 700MHz; it consumes and heats up much less.

>>738952740
3080ti is kinda shit, and I had the EVGA card that was hotter than all the others so thermal throttling was a real issue. EVGA was out by the time I was considering getting their liquid cooler and the price of it jumped 100-200 more and I just saved that for a new card instead. It really did suck ass at DLSS and RT. Impressive for the numbers it could hit but the 1% lows were atrocious and it had more issues overall compared to any other card I had and have now.

Don't care the 5070ti is still the only acceptable card.

>>738956034
No, if that's what you care about then the 4000 and 5000 cards are designed SO FUCKING CHEAPLY that they nerfed some electrical components so these cards lost the ability to evenly spread the electrical load like the 30 series could, and that causes the cable burning issue.
This is also why only the 5070ti is worth a buy because it pulls very little power for the performance is has so cable burning issues are a lot less likely to happens.
Your 3090 might be hot but you shouldn't be afraid. Just undervolt.
