Deal is actually a more fitting ending than Revenge
False
>>738943187I agree, it's depressing kino that comes full circle, but the game doesn't do enough to set it up. Most players don't care for Kate, and hate Dimitri's guts. I do think it's interesting how the Darko encounter tries to tell you how revenge isn't worth it because it doesn't fullfil Niko but if you then ignore Revenge the second time around, Roman pays the price.
>>738943187The game only makes sense if Roman dies.
wish this game wasn't such a piece of shit to play, i don't want to install rockstar launcher
>>738943187It is completely out of character for Niko to pick Deal
>>738943613I just replayed it, I do wonder why there isn't some mandatory Kate missions. If you don't engage with the dating stuff, Roman vs Her is a no-brainer.
I agree that Deal is better written at the end, but it's just impossible for me to justify. I can't imagine Niko being so retarded that he would work with Dimitri after how much Dimitri has fucked him over.
>>738943897I feel like you can justify it a little bit more in a cartoon-y way if you go kill Darko, "le revenge is bad! i will compromise even with dimitri, get the cash, gtfo of criminal life permanently". Niko is the type of guy to miscalculate bad (but working again with Dimitri bad? questionable) then it comes full circle like you said with faustins bodyguard from the beginning of the game killing roman, -> depressing last mission with dimitri as the final boss with cloudy weather and niko truly alone. then the more dark themes of the game make alot more sense rather than "we win cousin! dimitri is dead!" but idk.
Liberty city in gta 4 is Niko's personalised hell, it doesn't matter which one you pick because the game loops
>>738943187on my first playthrough I killed Dwayne and went for the Deal ending, but it's annoying how Niko tries to make you feel bad when you pick the money choices.
>>738946754i did the same thing. those choices are more brutal and more fitting if you're roleplaying niko as a ruthless hitman as he's supposed to be. if you do all of nikos dwayne hangouts too, niko really starts to dislike him and thinks hes just a miserable prick even for niko, whos the MOST miserable prick. Playboy X did nothing wrong.
he didn't deserve it.
>>738943897Not to mention Niko is loaded already by then, living in a fancy apartment near Central Park.
>>738946754Kind of interesting how one of the common complaints about the game, nothing to spend money on, works so well from a narrative point of view.Yeah, you can pick all the options to make the most money, but what does that get you? Nothing, other than having less friends.
>>738943187I agree that deal comes to a nice conclusion as a narrative than some random bitch dying, but it's severely out of character for Niko to pick deal.I guess they did it on purpose to make both endings have an equal weight.
>>738943187It really isn't>but the game is about letting go of revenge!Yes, revenge on a random dude whom Niko hasn't seen in years who, as it turns out, spent this entire time on the opposite end of the world not thinking about him at all.Meanwhile Dimitri is a dangerous and unstable psychopath living in the very same city who is for some fucking reason hell-bent on killing Niko and already tried to hurt both him and his close ones multiple times Getting rid of him (or at the very least not being willing to work with him again) isn't just about revenge, it's about ensuring safety and simply plain common sense
It should've had multiple paths with different gangs instead of doing shit for everyone, the story is so fucking disjointed I stopped caring on second island>>738947039I hear that picrelhttps://youtu.be/Jqie_rlgmpI?t=136
>>738947462this dude wants to see babbling buffoon pegerino be the final boss and some random bitch no one hangs out with dying lol.
>>738947375if you don't know how to or don't feel like exploiting the armored trucks, $20,000 is a decent chunk of change in the early game.
>>738943187Deal is the "true ending" for me. Losing Kate, a character who represented a chance at a more comfortable life, is exactly the kind of bad ending Niko needed to retain the gameplay after the story ends. Also, Roman technically has more content so keeping him alive makes more sense in that respect. Love me some IV
>>738948269Oh I forgot to add, early releases have a glitch where Kate can call you after the story ends. The game didn't remove her as a friend so if you relationship meter was high enough, she would call and ask to hang out after you not calling for a while. It felt like going on a date with a ghost. A weird bit of closure that felt sweet because it was just another hang out. One last time around the block together. And because the game removed her as a phone contact, her call appears as "Unknown Caller" which was spooky kino. Top tier glitch.
>>738947184He did for being a backstabbing narcissist.
>>738947756Not an argument against any of anon's post, retard.
The correct choices are spare Darko and revenge. Also spare all the mission targets when possible except Clarence and jews in the hotel.
>>738948637It literally is dumbbell lol
>>738947184THE STREETS, MAN
>>738947039I had a save just so I could replay that mission and take Dwayne out over and over.
>>738948269>Losing Kate, a character who represented a chance at a more comfortable life, is exactly the kind of bad ending Niko needed to retain the gameplay after the story ends. Also, Roman technically has more content so keeping him alive makes more sense in that respectThen you like Revenge, not Deal.Deal = Roman dies, final boss is Dimitri.Revenge = Kate dies, final boss is Pegorino.
>>738943187>deal with a character who tried to murder your cousin and burned down his business his home
>>738949616oh shit yeah. stoner moment.
>>738943613Absolutely retarded analysis only true in retrospect because most GTA players are Indian 14 year olds who look up the endings before playing. The idea is clearly the first time you the player play, you are going to listen to the character you like most and they die because of it, Romans greed or Kates idea of honor. It absolutely sets it up. Moreover Darko is a druggie who lives a life of pain and regret and begs you to kill him, Dimitri begs for his life instead. Two different things. Niko still pays the price anyway regardless of who you choose because it's about Kate and Roman because the entire point of the game is that you can escape the rest of the world but America is just as shitty. The player is meant to go "Man I hate Dimitri but I love Roman too much and want us to succeed," instead they end up killing him.
>>738951280>you are going to listen to the character you like most and they die because of it, Romans greed or Kates idea of honor. It's definitely going to influence the player but I think most people on a blind playthrough are going to choose the one that feels right for Niko, which is Revenge. Kate and Roman are definitely whispering in your ear from either side, but one is more thematically appropriate for Niko.>"Man I hate Dimitri but I love Roman too much and want us to succeed," instead they end up killing him. This is what makes the choice work at all. The natural decision is to go for revenge but your absolute bro wants otherwise, and you want what's best for the two of you. Kate is just a friend, not even a very close one compared to the rest of the potential friends, and so her voice of reason feels drowned out by relationship depth. goddamn I love this game
>>738943613apparently we were supposed to befriend Phill and he would be someone you could hang out with like Jacob and the others but he was cut, which is why we have that one missions where Jimmy Pegorino tells you he needs to kill someone but doesn't know who so he would think about it and tells you to leave.Later he would call and tell you to chose for him and you are given the option to kill either phill or ray.I guess they gave up on that, I don't know what the reward for allowing Ray to live would be but phill would be a friend you could call for help. Really wished they kept this mission.
>>738943187No its not u are gay
