What are your thoughts on mods that change the game's art direction?

I never use texture or model altering mods
Lighting, maybe.
Resolution and frame rate, only slightly in some 3D games

I think the graphic overhaul mods for FFVII look awful, but the nice thing about mods is that if I don't like them, I don't have to use them. I'm sure someone would have a problem with me turning the shopkeeper from Stardew Valley into Recette, but fuck 'em.

One thing that the old models don't show on non-PS1 hardware: they simplify the faces as they move away from the camera due to the low resolution in a smart way. like first the mouths disappear, then the whites of the eyes so just the colored pupils remain, and it tries to always leave at least one pixel for the skin on the face too.

If you play on any other system, it just renders them quickly and often their mouths look all weird or put of place (especially if they have a permanen :O face).
