I can't handle playthrough 2, having this fucker chasing you THE ENTIRE TIME is ridiculous, you're just hauling ass nonstop with no time to breathe or think. He was great in his limited doses in my first playthrough, but if he's there the entire time it feels less like horror and more just like extreme stress. On my first hardcore playthough where the lickers drop from the ceiling in the Umbrella lounge one just instantly started running at me and lunged despite being quite, I lost all of my health and had to shoot in then got swarmed by the second and died. The element of randomness and leon's sluggish movement ruins the game. Also on the subject of randomness, killing too many enemies or going too long without being hit makes artificial difficulty turn on, which gives enemies more health and this is what causes the memes about zombies taking 20 headshots to kill, which makes it even funnier when the main cast kill zombies with one headshot in every cutscene. Mr. X is retarded dogshit and you can't do anything without him walking up on you, not scary just tedious.

I love it. Easily the most fun I had from the remake, the idea of something constantly after you is just really exciting. And it as a constant real-time element instead of everything politely waiting for you to come near to be a threat.. Maybe, but the campaigns (where you'll spend your first dozen hours) are utter dogshit where you're constantly hitting QTEs and running through scripted setpieces. You won't experience the pure gameplay until you start playing the bonus game modes. Also it controls way differently from 4 and 5, so while you may see that as a good thing, I hate how it barely builds off of the solid foundation those two games had.
It's like if DMC6's campaign was riddled with unskippable dialogue and squeezing through crevices but it plays like an enhanced version of God Hand. It would definitely be a lot of fun to play, but you'd only be able to enjoy it in Bloody Palace, and it wouldn't really be DMC anymore.

Backtracking isn't inherently a bad thing, honestly the excessive parts end up more like a punishment for those that don't know what they're doing til they get better at routing these games, and an optional treat regularly for those that remember where to go for specific things they passed by before. And if you're not playing on easier difficulties, you're probably not clearing out every single enemy, so every unnecessary backtrack becomes another potential risk.
