>>
>>738955345

>>
>Boot up a LucasArts game

I wanted to like monkey island but we need to accept the fact that those puzzles were bullshit and made no sense

The adventure, the music, the humor and characters were all on point but those weren't puzzles, those were nonsense
>>
To be clear, OP is complaining about the writing of:
Monkey Island 1 and 2
Day of the Tentacle
Sam and Max Hit the Road
Full Throttle
The Dig
Grim Fandango
>>
>>738955345
LucasArts was related to George Lucas and LucasFilms? I thought they just have similar names
>>
>>738955708
all but one are bad games
>>
>>738955650
That's how adventure games were made, long before you were born, junior. And Monkey Island was nowhere near the more egregious example. You were expected to trial and error some puzzles.

And then there were puzzles like the goat puzzle in Broken Sword.

He was the founder, but it's not like he actually made any of the games. It's just a subsidiary.

But also, you didn't think it related that a company called LucasArts did Indiana Jones games?
>>
George Lucas just signed some shit and let them make it he wasn't programming the game.

My bait....
I like to keep it close to where my heart used to be...

LucasArts was indeed the gaming portion of the same operation as LucasFilm. Probably why so many Star Wars games don't suck, unlike the common fate of most tie-in projects, since they were still ultimately under George and thus had a pretty direct connection to the core of the setting.

>Monkey Island
Yes the writers tought they were clever boys, and game are full of absurd shit. they looked funwhen I was a kid. Now they are just cringe. The same reason I disliked sea of thieves.

>Day of the Tentacle, sam and max
They are clearly comedic in tones. What do you expect?

>Full throttle, grim fandango
these are the real gems and they strike a nice balance between story and some comedy moments.

>The Dig
What if we get serious now "moment". I think the worst experiment of Lucasart.

Thank you OP for "not being a faggot"

As a kid I never thought about it that much honestly, again I just thought ooh it's neat they have similar names.

Monkey Island 2 softlocks a player if they don't keep a specific item for the end that they'd have no reason to, trial and error doesn't help with that

1 tricked me with the banana picker too, I thought you'd need it to get lechucks keys and actually use it for something instead you use a magnet. I can't even remember how I finally did that
>>
>>738955795
I too enjoy Grim Fandango

>90's adventure game
>click anything
>suddenly the unfunniest Monty Python reference ever made
What compelled Gen X writers to do this with literally everything between 1990 and 2005?
>>
>>738956337
I'm a mid 80's millenial, doing citation of old work and comedies was "cool" since you were supposed to know and consume the specific media and there was no google to ask for the meaning of a specific joke.

A product so bad I actually emailed Lucasarts support to earnestly and apologetically ask how to unlock the rest of the game
