Why didn't you guys tell me Edelgard was based?
>>738955939WHY THE FUCKING HELL IS NOBODY PAYING ATTENTION TO MY FUCKING THREAD?
Fire Emblem SUCKS!
>>738958814No it doesn't.
That sounds like leftism, if anything. Authoritarianism.
she's flat, who cares what she says
>>738955939"Holy Adrestian Empire." This is very difficult to say while keeping a straight face. I wonder who can, because indeed it is hard. "Holy", you say, while grinning. "Holy", it is its name. But then, thinking of "Holy", you think about the Emperors who rejected the Church. You think about Edelgard, those who tried to execute the pope. You think about the Crest abuse going on within its borders and how its leadership served the subversive Western Church. But then, the funniest is coming: "Adrestian". Yes, now, you cannot contain your laughter. "Adrestian", it is called despite the fact that this "Adrestian" body is controlled from the shadows by Agarthans, a land so corrupt and unforgiving that its nobility usurped control from the house who founded it and gave it to the mole people. A subterranean and barbaric people, but still calling themselves "Adrestian".And now, here is the end of the fun: "Empire". Now you fell on the ground, laughing so hard that you cannot breathe. An "Empire", a body made of dozens of petty nobles and upstart commoners, all fighting for themselves, giving strange names to their position, begging to join the Alliance. An "Empire" who only still exists by the goodwill of the Church it rejected, while the countries who liberated themselves from its grasp absorb ever-increasing amounts of its territory along its border.>Holy>Adrestian>Empire
>>738955939Why not just indiscriminately murder all the nobles? Allowing them to exist just opens up the system to be exploited again.
>>738955939Oh bloody hell, a fucking Republicanist monarch. Toss that bitch off the throne.

>>738960918Voltaire was such a petty faggot. The holy roman empire fit all three categories and he just brings up retarded nonsequitors or blatant misinterpretations to justify his seething.
>>738966073So she's getting fucked by another horse right in front of Dorte
>>738955939what's preventing official from misusing their position for even more money and power?
>instead of owning a land and having it be your property through blood and posterity you will be paid as a temporary caretaker>now instead of your possessions themselves being your wealth, you will be forced to extract as much wealth as possible during your temporary tenure with no incentive to raise the standing of the land that would have been your property passed down to your children in the old system
sex with dragon goddess hiding in human form
>>738955939But this system fuckng sucks, those officials who "work for me" don't represent my interests at all and are incentivized to just lie about what their intentions are.
>>738966440Based and hoppepilled
>Edelgard: the current world only accepts Crests, only bloodlines. I intend to make a world upheld by merit and those with the strength to cut their own paths>But there are multiple noble houses that got their peerage without Crests. Such as House Edmund in Leicester who is the 4th most powerful House even though its Lord has no Crest. Hey wait isn't House Bergleiz both the Minister of War and the owner of Grondor Field, the Empire's bread basket? Leopold doesn't have a Crest either. If it's so impossible to gain power without a Crest, how did these people gain their stations? Edelgard:...shut up
I like how in Three Hopes, one of the endings has her reduced to a retarded child
>>738966440There's also the small problem of how this system snowballs unto itself. Ferdinand touches on it in his support >Ferdinand: Hm. I have something I would like to say to you too. Certainly, we must recognize the commonfolk who strive for greatness and attain it. But for those of us born into nobility, things are more complicated. From birth, nobles must excel. If we do not, we will be forced out of our houses. This environment breeds superior individuals, and they, in turn, recreate the rigorous environment for their own children. Without that cycle, there would be no political elite guiding the world towards prosperity.>Edelgard: Heh, so you're saying that the kind of world I'm striving to create is wrong?>Ferdinand: I would not go so far as to say your way is "wrong." Just that another way might be better. If you insist upon undoing the nobility, then we must build something in its place. We can provide free education for all, and then select the highest-performing students for more intensive training and tutoring. I truly believe that people are products of their environment.>Edelgard: Finding a way to educate the people... Interesting. I'm impressed by how much thought you've given this. No matter what shape the world takes, I'm sure I'll always need people like you by my side. People with strong principles who will argue with me and force me to consider ideas that are contrary to my own.Ferdinand is correct, the rich get richer because they're not under the same stress of survival as the commoners. The rich have the money to take time out to study history or the arts or integrate with other leaders without needing to wonder how they're going to put food on their table tomorrow. And he offers half a solution aka public schooling but this is a band aid solution. Because at the end of the day, those commoners are playing catch up with people who not only have had a lifetime of training and education but they also have literal super powers
>>738955939So I assume her first step to this new system is to immediately step down and let the people choose their new emperor/empress right?
>>738966278snirk
>>738955939Don't care, didn't read, Rhea's better, Edelgard's route was phoned in and forced, whoever says Rhea's route is copied from Claude's and not the other way around has severe brain damage, and lastly fuck yourself.
played this shit like 6 years ago and hated it after the like 10th chapter. is it worth going back to?

>>738955939"ok so who elected you to be in charge?"
>>738966440In feudal systems children become mere property and there is little care for them all the same.
>>738955939Its better to kill and and be a just ruler looking out for the people. Anytime a snake tries to infiltrate or game the system, kill em. And if a ruler is corrupt and destroying the people and land it is up to the next ruler to kill them and restore prosperity. Might makes right. Also rape this bitch.
>>738955939To my memory, it was because she hoped to accomplish all this by siding with the Totally Not Going To Backstab All Our Allies and Nuke Existence gang, with the extent of her plan being "backstab them first".
>>738970408I mean, that was the Gang's plan, she's just better at it.
>>738970493I absolutely do not believe the people sitting on a stockpile of magic ICBMs plan only to undo the system of nobility. I don't care what they say.
>>738969997Winning a war against the entire continent?
>>738970685I meant "backstab the other party first". I imagine the collapse of traditional oligarchal power structures is largely incidental to their plans.
>>738970920Yeah. I know. That's why I specified that her plan amounted to backstabbing them "first". I think that this is hideously underbaked as a plan, the stupidity required to bank on it blunts any praise her views might earn.
>>7389559393H is worse than Fates and Engage
>>738955939Sounds nice on paper, in reality Byleth and Lorenz's kids are still nobles and inherit the territory and jobs. You really should have gotten around to fixing that, Edelgard.
>>738955939>nobility is based heavily on crest system>crests give powers beyond normal human abilities>create meritocracy>crest owners rise to the top because theyre superhumanSo nothing changes, except the state owns all the land now.

>>738975524Doesn't the lord own everything under feudalism? Serfs were basically sharecroppers.
>>738975623More like >noble owns land>serf works land>noble gets what the serfs harvest>serf needs to buy ehat the noble has with the money the noble gave them
>>738975623Serfdom is a far cry away from sharecropping.
>>738955939we did. a lot.
>>738955939Edelgard did nothing wrong.

>”There were two “reigns of terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted a mere five years , the other had lasted over a millennium; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all Fodlan could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.”Still unrefuted.

I didn't do either, I've really only used my starting students and kept them in pretty typical classes. I genuinely have no idea what the game is asking of me here. I don't understand how devs could have looked at this insane spike in difficulty and thought it was okay to ship. Luckily I had the foresight to keep a save from before the battle at Garreg Mach so I at least have the option of going back and turning the difficulty down but Jesus Christ. I cannot recall the last time I was genuinely so ANGRY at a video game, so baffled at what hurdle was put in front of me to overcome.
Come on Guy, you just gotta rest!

>>738955939None of the political shit matters when we're talking about a fictional world where humanity is ruled over by a race of dragons. Edelgard is right purely because killing Rhea and freeing humanity from the tyranny of reptile overlords is objectively the only correct decision.

>>738981514>refers to it as "allied"Dani Doyle won
>>738955939That’ll totally work when nobles still have literal superpowers. It’s telling how the Slithers just get off screened in Crimson Flower because of how dumb the route is when you really think about it.
>>738966884>People with strong principles who will argue with me and force me to consider ideas that are contrary to my own.lol
>>738982713Yeah, but that's Rhea's fault.
>>738982829Listening to others huh? >Dimitri: I will get straight to the point. Why did you start this war? There had to be a way to change things in your territory without the need for so many senseless casualties.>Edelgard: It may be hard to believe, but this is the way that leads to the fewest casualties in the end. Don't you see?>Dimitri: How could I? Countless people have already lost their lives in this conflict.>Edelgard: The longer we took to revolt, the more victims this crooked world would have claimed. I weighed the victims of war against the victims of the world as it is now, and I chose the former. I believe that I have chosen the best path, the only path.>Dimitri: Even after seeing the faces of those who have suffered the ravages of war, you would still force them to throw their lives away for the future? You are obsessively devoted to this war and deaf to the screams of its victims. You cannot change the cycle of the strong dominating the weak with a method like that.
>>738983230Technically true. But it's because she didn't want to smother actual infants in the crib. Something Edelgard the school shooter would obviously have no problem doing.
>>738983486That's not to mention Rhea also likes to personally hand out her own Crests for her own benefit.
>>738983230>Scenario: a man murdered your family and took your family heirlooms. He then passed those heirlooms to his children. You return later with the ability to take revenge. Do you>A: only kill the people who actually murdered your family. Spare the children>B: destroy his entire family line root and stemIf you choose A, you're the villain :)
>>738983657C: find some other way to deal with it down the line rather than propagate and benefit from Crests.
>>738955939>power is actually back with the public unlike Communism while Edelgard essentially only steps in to get her hands dirty handling shit that needs beatings instead of speechesBisexual stacy.
>>738983726She worked with what she had. I'm not going to lean to heavily on Word of God but they bring up a good point where Rhea couldn't just pretend the last 90 years didn't happen. Profiting off of Crests? The noble houses aren't obligated to the Church. The entire Empire broke off from Garreg Mach with zero consequences. Leicester uses Garreg Mach as a mercenary store. The only region who actually kneels to the Church is Faerghus and even then that's because the common people are faithful to the religion. Lorenz even points out that piety to the church is a formality. Rhea doesn't even consider herself the ruler of Fodlan, only an interim substitute until the actual goddess returns. Speaking of that the Rite of Rebirth festival is a prayer that the goddess will return to Fodlan but by their dogma the goddess only left because of nobility abusing her gifts to elevate themselves above their kin. So it's nobles praying the goddess return while still wearing the sin that drove her away in the first place. No the church does not benefit from Crests. Considering their origin, Rhea fucking HATES Crests but can't rid Fodlan of them without genocide.
>>738966884>Game literally full of incompetent nobles who haven't been forced to do anything until I, random teacher, kill the shit out of them.Yeah, Okay Ferdinand.
>>738983657I automatically answer: Immediately kill the proposer of the philosophical conundrum to anyone who dares give me difficult choices. How dare they suggest I cannot overcome them through my indomitable human spirit, they must be a reptilian. Now stand still, you spook.
>>738955939Sounds as gay democracy propaganda. It doesn't work without a power state with army of bureaucrats and pre democratic traditions. Vote rights also should not be for everyone from the start
>>738975623>>738975812>>738981558It doesn't help that Feudalism is getting bunched up into like three different variants here. It was around for a while and different depending on location. Kind of bullshit to say slavic high medieval feudalism is the same thing as English early medieval thegns.

>>738955939>nobles will act as government officialsso parasitic scums go from fucking their regions to fucking over the whole country.didn't play the game but what the actual fuck?
>all that matters is your own merits>and also the merits of your rich dadRepresentative democracy is a sham. We need to go back to the era of the pure Athenian Democracy where politicians were chosen at complete random
>>738955939You can’t fix authoritarianism by putting authoritarians in charge and expecting them to suddenly act according to the will of the people in a new system, such as democracy. That never works. It is extremely easy to create propaganda that justifies constant governmental overreach, and people will cheer for it because they don’t know any better and even if people don't support them, they will just fake their popularity, threaten people, etc.The only way to fix authoritarianism is to act like an authoritarian for a while: remove corrupt, incompetent, and generally evil people from the government, create rules that force a culture of transparency, honesty, and ethics across all governmental entities, continue doing this for a decade or two, and then slowly transition to democracy.Giving nobles power just like that in the new system is a terrible idea.
>>738987353Okay so let me give a small primer on what Fodlan is: Due to events in the past that involve dragons and multiple genocides, there's a percentage of the population that has something called a Crest. These are blood magic seals that grant actual superpowers to those who have it. Some have super strength. Others can use magic without tiring. Etc. In addition to this (most of) these Crests are paired with a magical weapon called a Hero's Relic, weapons so powerful in canon that a single soldier equates to a full army. It's the reason why Fodlan has been impregnable to outside countriesAs you imagine this made those with Crest climb up the social hierarchy faster than everyone else. And while the church preaches against this idea, it also says those with Crests were chosen by god, so you decide who to blame for the rise of Crest based nobility. But this does mean that the factions are built around how they perceive Crests. Adrestia sees noble houses as political offices rooted in bloodline. Faerghus views Crests by practicality, they're knights who view all through war and so each house is expected to defend the nation. Leicester uses Crests to leverage money and income, if you're broke you can fall off of elevated stature. So there are nuances there. Edelgard says every problem plaguing Fodlan is rooted in Crests. And she starts a continent wide war against literally everyone to enforce her worldview
>>738983726Not an option. People aren't going to not fuck, and there were already 100 years of speciation. Do nothing and these faggots group up around Crests for the objective power they grant anyways, except you have nothing to hold over them at all.
>>738981514Theres a fire emblem card game?
>>738988106That's not enough. Democracy of any sort without an educated populace instantly fails.
>>738984489Why should I tolerate being in a system that's openly disenfranchising me?
>>738988887Well Ferdinand wanted to start a public school system but the country is still built on farmers, hunters, and mercenaries. The common populace are gonna be at an extreme disadvantage since they can't just stop doing their jobs to go to school. There's also the slight problem that the continent has to grapple with the fact their major religion was a lie. Maybe Leicester won't care but Faerghus will.
>>738955939Fun fact, she DOESN'T do that. In the actual game, she promotes people who backstabbed their own families for money, and her friends who are the conquerors in the first place.
>>738988875Fire Emblem Cipher, japan exclusive, discontinued a few years after FEH launched.I played a few games of it with a friend who got some beginner boxes, it was a neat tcg but ultimately the card art was easily the best part of it.Some of the alt skins in FEH are actually lifted directly from Cipher, so it's influence still exists in a way. IIRC the SoV DLC characters were from Cipher originally as well, though I could be wrong on that.
>>738983657I would just whine endlessly and get the public to shame them into eternally paying "reparations" to me
>>738989018Yep. Houses Bergleiz, Hevring, and Varley all participated in the Insurrection of the Seven but switched sides to server Edelgard. Technically House Vestra did too but Hubert killed his father for taking part so I don't think that counts. The only one Edelgard didn't extend an olive branch to is Ludwig who's just as guilty as all the others
>>738955939Reminder that Edelgard's father was a brutal fascist dictator and she gave him a full pardon because he's her father. And all the villains in the Alliance and Kingdom side with her for personal gain, the very people that should be put to death for making Fodlan a worse place.
>>738988887Then educate people. You have decades to do so. More than enough.
>>738966898Yeah, kinda. She wants to establish the system first, then leave. It's magical thinking, but hey, she's a woman.
>>738989185Ionius putting his foot down and choosing to have House Hrym butchered is really funny to me. Because years earlier House Rowe did the same thing House Hrym did and jumped ship to Faerghus. That's how Faerghus got Arianrhod. Then House Hrym attempted the same thing only using House Ordelia to leave Adrestia to become a part of Leicester. If all your noble houses are trying to leave to join adjacent countries, maybe, just maybe, you're a bad leader
>>738955939Cool. Now post what she says in the original script translated by AI, not that fanfic.
>>738988887>>738989215The "education" you suggest is quite literally brainwashing, and is one of the ways that democracy can easily get people to be content with the scourge of the world that are politicians.
>>738988998The difference is that Ferdinand is not retarded and actually saw an issue that should have been blindingly obvious.
>>738989663I feel bad for Ferdinand. He's not stupid but he's working with an extremely shitty foundation with dumb ideas that he has to turn into actionable plans
>>738955939As retarded as Edelgard's future for Fodlan is, it's still better than Claude's of letting thousands of brown people into the country.I'd tell everyone to fuck off while living in a quiet part of land with my small fish loving dragon wife.
>>738980528Yeah the map is shit. You can always reload to before chapter 12 and reclass Byleth to a flier if you've been using training sessions to build his ranks to recruit other students. Otherwise enlightened one is okay. Claude can fly so he doesn't have to care about enemy positions, and his new battalion is insane at controlling enemy movement. Blue lions honestly have it the roughest because Dimitri becomes an infantry unit and he gets a new fully healed battalion, killing off any vantage wrath strategies you may have been using.
>>738990001I've played the Lion root enough times to dance around this. Namely each House Leader has their personal skill upgraded after chapter 12. Claude gets Pass. Edelgard gets Dedue's skill except with RES. And Dimitri gets +15 to avoid when at full health. The King of Lion Corp kind of fucks him with a -5 penalty BUT forest tiles give +10 - 15 avoid. So I always train Dimitri in flying until he gets Alert Stance, which gives +15 avoid when waiting. Combined together and Dimitri gets +40 avoid not counting his natural stats just by existing, allowing him to easily solo the thieves until reinforcements arrive. For my part I always put Byleth in either Trickster or Assassin in chapter 11 to take advantage of Stealth to support Dimitri while not calling attention to myself. It's very consistent, even on maddening
