>>738965219>modern japanese games are pozzed>modern eroge is pozzed>modern anime is pozzed>even japan is now full of indiansThe only saving grace is that i can consume old entertainment in japanese...
This shitnigger reality isn't worthy of my full power...
>>738965219Never. I got my friends who study Japanse with me supporting me. I do anki every day. Two young cuties just joined my class. I am the bone of my kanji
>>738965219>1 week since anki repIt's fucking over, there's no going back

>>738966023>>738966996>>738967081Real.
>>738968968Any translation is a rewrite
>>738968554yeah man anki is for scrubs. why would i spend 20 minutes a day reviewing the language when i could spend 12 hours per diem listening to vtubers and understanding maybe 10% of what is being uttered?
But I haven't, I started to read Japanese news and mine through that. People who try to mine purely in a vacuum must be doing themselves a disservice, because I remember so much more by associating the Kanji with news that I am reading.
>>738965219I didn't, I got my N1 long ago. But then I lost interest in most videogames and anime so I watch Japanese news and non-fiction tv programmes instead.
I think internet culture has shifted away from Japan. Most people pay more attention to Korea, grifters and vloggers.
>>738970518Oh noAnyway
the east has fallen to the wokewhat's the point
>mfw whenever I confuse to similar Kanji and miss meaning by glazing over particles
>>738965219Just got bored really. I could read well enough, but I couldn't get myself to actually play games, read, or watch anything because "if I do this I should do it in Japanese but if I do I'll do it way slower" which just over time killed my enjoyment of all of those things
>>738971702I never had this issue because the choice even at the start was between "consuming as intended" or "reading fan fiction that was mistranslated at best, or actively malicious at worst".
>>738971825I never had this issue either because I am not autistic
>>738971946If you have zero standards it kind of makes sense you didn't get anywhere.
>>738970178I doubt you're even at the level for news, not that that's a particularly high bar.
>>738972225I'm a news enjoyer.
aint got time
>>738972218Perhaps, but you're already not playing it as originally intended anyways because rarely do the devs have 100% control over the game so you're already having people meddle with the product. If you really want to you you would just read the mind of the creators and then you'd be golden.
>>738965219Never tried, japanese is a worthless language
>>738965219I didn't give up, but I got really busy. I can play games fine though with what I have now. I can use my dictionary to snipe any new words.

>>738973714Yeah, you can. You just sit there and let them do all the talking as they realize you don't know Japanese.
>>738965219i have 100 new words left in kaishi 1.5k, but am still undecided whether to start a mining deck next or find a larger pre-made deck. either way, i think i'll study grammar while improving my stats on kaishi for a while. it's not so bad overall if you go in expecting japanese to take several years before you start to feel comfortable.
>>738974179Kaishi's just meant to act as a warmup. You're ready to start diving into some real material. I recommend you start mining alongside an AI model like ChatGPT or Gemini. It can teach and breakdown what you're looking at as you learn.
>>738965219Djt thread No point in learning Japanese when they're getting flooded by Indians and other browns And I can just use AI to translate everything. I'm slowly reading and noticing more words and I'm understanding the nuances that get cut from localization
>>738974462djt isn't really necessary anymore for learning. AI invalidates all the old learning methods
>>738974321>I recommend you start mining alongside an AI model like ChatGPT or Gemini. It can teach and breakdown what you're looking at as you learn.i'm suspicious of this method, not so much in the use of ai itself as a tool, but rather because it seems like something that could easily become a crutch, leading to a lesser understanding compared to those who learned japanese without ai. also, i feel as though my knowledge of vocabulary and grammar is still functionally insufficient. aside, thank you for the advice, anon.
>>738973979Sounds like you need to improve then.
>>738975013Learning is never a crutch. On the contrary, pre-AI learners struggled greatly with grammar concepts and more advanced sentence structure because they had no reference material with which to learn from. It's really no different than having a teacher or an experienced learner helping you out.Honestly, the people who don't take advantage of it are the ones missing out and stunting their growth.

>>738975078Woah, no need to be so defensive, man.
>>738975215Are you trying to say that AI created all grammar and advanced sentence structure from scratch?
>>738974462This I don’t know when the last year to go to Japan was but I went to Japan in April 2025 and holy shit they were everywhere I’m not sure if there are cities left without them

>>738975331Uh what? No, just that it can teach it to you and go beyond the scope of a lot of English teaching materials.
>>738965219I cant remember kanji spelling I don't want to do anki anymore. I rather read stuff it works semi well but looking stuff up is annoying. So I am stuck on a weird n5-n4-n3 level because I haven't bothered doing my reps.
>>738975393The best resource is straight up just consooming raw stuff, anime, manga, vidya, whatever the fuck.Just do what your brain did as a kid to learn westoidese, except you can speedrun the process in a few months instead of a decade because you're an adult now.
>>738975506So "they had no" becomes "goes beyond the scope of", a scope undefined because there was no material in the first place.
>>738975546How do you expect to learn if you don't want to look things up?
>>738975627Yes, they had no reference material because it went beyond the scope of textbooks, J-E dictionaries, and other such teaching materials.
>>738965679kek its so funny watching westoid femoids try to learn jap, their brains cant possible comprehend such a complex language heheh such fucking futility.
>>738965679>friendsDo you mean 友人, 友達、 or 仲間?
>>738965219I have no talent for it, I was regularly spending 10x the time needed to memorize the same content as people studying with me. I fumble with English all the time and it's my first and only language, learning a language was just not meant for me. Anon with a about 3-400 hours in Japanese.
I stopped being depressed, and no longer had to take my mind off of things.
luddite shit, just put that shit in an AI
>>738974462Just brute force everything with AI like an absolute retard even if it takes 10 years, it's still better than djt
>>738966856If they're such great writers then why not make their own material?
After reading for a few years, I realise that people that are trying to 1:1 translate in their heads instead of taking the language as is are doing themselves a disservice.
>>738975615>except you can speedrun the process in a few months instead of a decade because you're an adult nowit's the other way around
>>738976573What does "taking the language as is" mean exactly?
>>738976594the "you can only ever learn languages as a kid" is a literal jew meme
>>738976640Just BECOME the Japanese instead of trying to translate it.
>>738976526So dedicated to AI you'll take 5x the amount of time necessary as long as it means you don't have to study
>>738976640It means understanding it in japanese directly instead of trying to translate to westoidese first.
>>738976752That would be akin to not understanding it.
>>738976752how do you understand it if you dont translate it nigga
>>738976803That's the point, understand it in japanese directly.
>>738976853No, you're literally not understanding it.
>>738976640It means immersing yourself fully into the language and understanding the concepts as presented in a flowing manner instead of trying to attribute concepts that exist in their native language to what they are reading. For example, there are a shit ton of examples of clever use of grammar and "tricks" of a language to create a deep and thoughtful phrase that when trying to translate loses a lot of the "charm" of the original prose, whereas knowing the conventions of a language and how it interacts internally can create a better experience.Basically, not taking the language as is leads to people who technically know japanese, but in trying to translate it to their native tongue, they come to the conclusion that it is "Dry".
>>738976932That's not understanding it. That's just pretending to know it.
>>738977028Which was the point of my original post, so many people try to learn a language and then in their head translate it to their native tongue and get a worse experience because of it.
>>738976803>>738976848>>738976927>>738977028im surprised at how low IQ westoids are these days

>>738977295I'm lucky that I got to grow up with both English and Farsi. Anyone who speaks English + a language that has pronunciations that don't exist has an advantage when it comes to making sense of, not only how other languages work, but how to wrap your head (and tongue) around how to pronounce shit that sounds impossible at first. The good news for EOP is that Japanese is actually pretty easy to pronounce properly since, from what I've gathered, 99% of it uses similar phonics to English and doesn't veer into the crazy sounding shit you hear in Chinese, for example. Though I may have that impression due to the Farsi part of my vocab doing some of the heavy lifting; can't say for sure.
>>738978459Is your family being bombed right now?

>>738977623You joke but it's weirdly effective.People may scoff at using streaming sites, but going to the rando anime piracy site in turn and just leaving random shit on the background does wonders. It's far more productive than having endless video essay slop at least.
>>738965219I started too late and stopped giving a shit about japanese media. Should have learnt when I was 20 not 30.
>>738979695I dealt with that too, but now I'm about to work as a japanese interpeter/translator for a company. The trick for me was to find something I was really interested in reading and base my study around that. For me it was touhou doujins and INMU/Cookie.

>>738976640>>738976803>>738976927>>738977028Immersing yourself in a language is not something strictly exclusive to Japanese. I've done the same with English as my second language a long time ago, I can write sentences and understand things without needing to translate into my mother tongue. I didn't give up. I'm fluent in the superior East Asian language, Chinese.
I didn't. After AJATTing for two years, I spent a year in Japan last year and after being able to deal with hospital, dentist and all kinds of daily shit solo in Japanese, I properly realised the length that "N1 is basically just the beginning" is. None of that stuff was overly hard at all, I knew everything I need to know, but phrasing things like a Japanese person was the hardest part. The nurses were really excited to talk to a foreigner that could speak JP though, even if I wasn't good compared to natives.
>>738985501>but phrasing things like a Japanese person was the hardest part.this would be piss easy if you were actually AJATTing nigga, you would just be copying phrasing you already saw

>>738985640I thought so, but I was surprised by how many situations come up that don't match shit you see in media. During those situations it's easy to fuck up in the moment and realise later. I mean, I basically went from outputting maybe once or twice every few weeks to dropping in at the deep end. I improved a shitload as a result very quickly while I was there. I wish I hadn't been so stubborn and had started outputting properly earlier, I feel like I kneecapped myself by waiting so long. I do a lot better now, but I could've been at this level sooner. No point getting hung up on what-ifs, I guess.

>>738985923I agree, though technically it's been three and a half years now. The thing I was happiest about was being able to comprehend almost everything that was said to me, but I did have a few moments where I embarrassed myself by not catching something very quickly. It's not lost on me that a lot of Japanese people tended to simplify their language assuming I'd understand nothing, though. I really appreciated it when they didn't.Regardless, I just need to keep practising, that's all there is to it.

>>738965219But I didn't. Reading pic related right now, though it's taking me forever. According to VNDB it's about 30 hours long but I'm 40 hours in and only reached the second half of the game where you have a different protagonist
