It's actually insane that this came out in 2002
>>
>>738965591
it's ridiculously ahead of its time, that's for sure

I would say it mogs modern metroidvanias but that's saying little, metroidvanias devolved their level design/exploration in favor of braindead combat and unfortunately this is true for the metroid series as well
>>
>>738965591
nintendo when it actually decides to take itself seriously for once
>>
>>738966804
GC was the last time that happened (unfortunately zelda got hit early with the retardation that would follow). Iwata destroyed every last drop of testosterone Nintendo had during the wii era and it never recovered

The anon who said /v/ is just a bunch of mid to late 30s and 40 year olds and older was right.
>>
>>738966545
prime 1 has terrible world design

>>738967141
no

>runs through magmoor caverns for the fifth time
>>
>>738967250
magmoor is designed to be a transit area so that's a disingenuous "argument"
>>
>>738967345
Doesn't do it any favors in being any less boring, prime is a giga chore
>>
it was indeed very good. young me was floored when explosions/lights would flair in combat & you'd see samus's reflection in her visor

also has one of my favorite OSTs ever
>>
everyone thinks MP1 is a masterpiece until they get to the end and realize they should have been using a guide to get the artifacts along the way or else they have a SHITTON of boring backtracking in store for them
>>
>>738967076
i wish.
in reality the majority are brown gacha players and zoomers/gen alphas who can't use terminology correctly and think every game that requires you to learn the mechanics to get good is "clunky"
>>
OP here I take back what I said the game sucks
>>
>>738971007
Metroid Prime 2 is worse.
>>
>>738965591
Yeah it definitely does not feel like it came out a year after Halo CE

Halo CE rapes and gapes this piece of shit
>>
>>738971007
MP1 wasn't so bad because it rewarded you for being observant and soaking in the lore.
Holy fuck though the sky temple key hunt was extreme cancer. I'm pretty sure Retro just assumed everyone would look up/buy a guide.
>>
>>738971540
>comparing two completely different games

i know /v/ is full of retarded zoomers who don't understand videogames, but holy shit
>>
>>738971764
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T SAY A RIBEYE STEAK TASTES BETTER THAN A PILE OF DOGSHIT!! THOSE ARE TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CATEGORIES OF FOOD!!!

I've been playing through it for the first time and I like it a lot. My only gripe right now is the amount of scrubbing I'm going to need to do for 100% items at the end.

Or worse, think that they're made for autistic speedtrannies.

Growing up playing this on release was kino. The jump from a n64 FPS like quake or doom or goldeneye to this was insane. I replayed the intro level like 10 times because it was so cool. If you can’t respect that, well…..
