Just don’t make it too expensive, know your audience, and you’ll make a pretty penny easily; plus you get additional kudos for being willing to do smaller unique games for those niche audiences instead of eternally chasing AAA sales with homogenized slop. That’s why indie games have blown up in the past decade, after all
For example, nintendo brought back famicom detective club of all series. Didn’t make huge bucks, not many people even bothered with it, but it still ended up a success and hooked in fans of the series. Even among those who weren’t interested in the game still appreciated that nintendo even bothered making a new game for one of the smallest game series in their catalog
