I just finished this game
and deleted my save like an idiot because I didn't realize it was being serious, so whoever is helped by it better appreciate it
what did I think
>>
Based retard. You're a good man.
>>
>what did I think
Do goycattle actually? Maybe kikes were right.
>>
>>738974453
I guess on the bright side I finished the game anyways, so I'm not missing much (only thing I really missed was the superboss and some inconsequential sidequests), and it helps a bro out at the end of the day. That ending segment is kino regardless
>>
You think has the best story in the history of Japan gaming.

i played this when it first came out and didnt stop until i had seen everything then never went back to it.
just started a new game yesterday and im about 8 hours in. just learned about the aliens.
this game is so fucking great. theres so much ive forgotten about it its like im playing it for the first time. its one of the only games where i bother to listen to all the dialogue and read all the files and shit because theres so much attention to detail and great little touches.
such a shame taro has made nothing but fucking card games and mobile dogshit since this came out. i want more nier.
>>
>>738974410
>spoiler
kek you're literally me
at least I don't think I'm going to replay it anytime soon so I hope I helped someone with that
>>
>>738974410
>>738974769
Look into playing Replicant, for the people who haven’t yet.
>>
Congratulations, you have now come to realize that people who say "ummm ackshually the first one is better" are drooling contrarian retards
>>
>>738974854
Same, here's hoping our dumbasses helped another nierfag in need
>>738974769
I feel like this is one of those games that gets even better on replays. There's a lot of stuff that may go over your head unless you know the context for it, like the reason for 2B's coldness to 9S being that she keeps killing him over and over, but wants to distance herself from her feelings for him It's something that you'd probably be able to see better in the dialogue with prior knowledge.
>>738974978
I'm planning to. Any thoughts on Drakengard? I've heard his earlier games tend to be a bit clunkier in terms of gameplay.
>>738974585
Very true. It's odd to say, but I think the overall theming has tinges of stuff like Berserk, about struggling through a fucked up world
>>
>>738974769
Reinc being lost to time is a fucking shame. Reinc being gacha is a shame. Hopefully they retool it in some way.
>>
>>738974516
>didn't do the emil fight
you missed the whole game then. Restart retard.
>>
>>738974410
I wish I could enjoy this game like other people do. To me, the story always felt a bit juvenile in how deeply it actually explored its idea, and was just grossly stretched out over its pretty long runtime, which gets further padded by awful side quests. 2B has a fluid base moveset, but there is no depth to it and the enemies are tedious and repetitive, and I thought playing 9S was miserable. I also thought the music was only fine
>>
>>738974983
I think they're both good in different ways, I prefer Automata though. The only thing that annoys me is that there's a contigency of Gestalt/Replicantfags who have a very blatant chip on their soldier about Tomato being more popular
>>
>>738974769
I didn't play it until 2ish years after it released and ended up beating it two or 3 times, and then played the original and beat it on ps3 emulator playing gestalt, then played replicant and it wasn't as good imo.

Either way they're all great and fuck the mobile game.
>>
>>738974410
>what did I think
You didn't. You listened. And that's what no one did.
>>
>>738975138
maybe some day in the future, but for now I usually like to put some space between myself and games when I finish them. Plus it'd be 40 hours to get back to where I was, and I have a Metroid Prime Quadrilogy to play through for the first time
>>738975168
I disagree with most of what you say, save for the gameplay. Going from something like Hi-Fi Rush or DMC to this definitely feels like a huge step down in terms of hack and slash gameplay.

The game was a blast and I'll forever be mad that Yoko Taro going against all odds and actually landing a big financial hit just got him sent to the gacha mines instead of a guarantee of a proper sequel.
>>
>>738974769
It's pointless. Don't you know how hard trannylators fucked with the script of that game?
>>
>>738974410
You think it has the best ost ever made
>>
>>738975214
>then played replicant and it wasn't as good imo.
What? It's almost 1 to 1 with gestalt.
>>
>>738975429
This. If you played any of this in English, you didn't play the game. You played some troon's fanfiction.
>>
If it was good there would have been a sequel by now

The original Nier on PS3 doesn't even ask you. It just deletes your save.
>>
>>738974410
>spoiler
the game will always have preset "saves" that come and save you, in case you are playing offline. your deleted saved data doesnt actually do anything except make your save file name come up in the end credits of someone elses game. you dont actually help anyone as the game will make sure that even offline players can beat that part.
>>
>>738975909
Based and true. One of the worst slop I've ever played and never finished because it was such an awful slog. Stellar Blade does literally everything better.
>>
>>738974410
You thought the combat was a little too button-mashy viable
You also thought the story was pretty good
You also also thought that Pascal was the best character
>>
>>738975382
it really is bizarre and tragic that after years of making games that almost no one knows about he finally hit it big and then it was just
>see ya later, yokes, bon voyage! have a good one and goodbye forever!

kind of a similar chord to MGS's overarching theme, and I love that shit too
>>
>>738974983
OP didn't say that though?
>>
>>738978092
Did you guys play the first? It's literally the continuation of Ending D. The second game is a vast improvement on all aspects of the first. I imagine it would be boring and confusing not knowing all the reference points.
>>
>>738978353
Yeah it's definitely quite similar to MGS2, 4 and maybe PW the most considering what The Boss does in it

I can't lie I was in fucking tears though the whole ending and this punched me in the gut something fierce. I'm very emotional person and I played this at a very volatile moment in my life (retard idea) and I actually ended up having a full on freakout the next day at work and crying on the floor because I thought about it too much.

I love music as well and it's something that's always had emotional pull with me, so I think that made a big difference. The music in this game might be the best in any ever made.
>>
>>738979049
I felt some of that. Definitely brought me to tears. Music is the most important part of a game if we're being real. If the themes spoke to you you should read Akagi and Ten, it got me to this emotional state as well.
>>
>>738979049
you sound like you have some serious emotional problems and i would recommend you not be such a little bitch. also,
>The music in this game might be the best in any ever made
it is. in any game. ever
>>
>>738974410
Did you do the DLC? I'm guessing not because you deleted your save. It's not much but I enjoyed it.

Don't try to engage with these retards, they're either trolling or genuinely too much of a soulless NPC to "get" it and neither of these are worth a response.

>>738979372
Thank you for the suggestion, it's always nice to see that other people that relate and I actually 100% agree with music being the most important part of a game. It's enveloping, all encompassing and sets the vibe and tone throughout the entire experience.

Other standout examples for me include SIGNALIS and Death Stranding 1 and 2 as excellent examples of how effective music can be at elevating a game from good to great.

>>738979532
I go to therapy once a month now!
>>
>>738978860
if the "vast improvement on all aspects" version of the game already sucks why would they play the prequel?
>>
>>738979049
Good music can really carry vidya in my opinion.
>>
>>738975461
I meant the replicant 98-125y7092357 edition.
the remake.

They butchered a bunch of the ost and the original is better Imo. They story beats are also different slightly because different characters.

Papa nier is just cooler to me.

>>

For the story. It's not Final Fantasy. Even Drakengard 3 is on the same timeline. So I was already a fan. Do people here ever play a bad game for a good story? That was the original Nier, and I liked it. Got the Platinum too.
>>
>>738974410
Truly the KINOest ending I've ever had in a game.

>Do people here ever play a bad game for a good story?
Not me, I primarily play videogames to have fun. If I want a good story i'd read a book or watch a movie from the 20th century.

Gameplay > Music > World Interaction > Story > Graphics

>Drakengard 3
I played it and thought the characters were extremely obnoxious especially the Masochist big guy. Combat was pretty clunky too.
>>
>>738974410
You thought it was a extremely soulful game and you'll now go play nier.

I did that 98 thing and I just slapped my keyboard because that's basically what they did when they named it. idk wtf the actual name is nor do I care enough to copy paste it.
>>
>>738986056
Never because Switch 1 games don't run actually run natively on S2 and there is a translation layer that enables compatibility(this is why the patches are paid for Nintendo games btw). They would have to recompile a new S2 executable which they won't do.
>>
>>738975909

this
it has cool lore but there's just a few sentences of it in the whole game hidden behind shit gameplay and replaying same segments two times
>>

Damn :(
Kinda silly though. Even though Platinum would be double-dipping, a lot of users (myself included) would appreciate and buy it.

>>
>>738974410
It's a huge disappointment if you played the previous games first. Route A is okay. Route B has Nier's problem of "are we the baddies" except even worse. I don't care if your murderbot has a crying baby inside it, it's still a murderbot.
Routes C and D are rancid garbage. A2 has zero motivation whatsoever outside of being a spectator for whatever's going on, and the whole route is a buildup to some grand finale that's just a discount SHODAN, a tidbit about 2B that doesn't even matter at this point, and machines just fucking off, zero reference to all the foreshadowing from earlier. Ending E would be alright if it didn't follow the dogshit that's C and D, as it is it's just hollow.
Also they killed off the Machine Village, which it the most interesting part of the whole game, for cheap drama instead of exploring it further. Lame.
>>
>>738974410
Ive beat and seen all the endings , honestly the only thing this game got going is the story and the music, everything else is meh, the combat and gameplay is pretty boring and hugely lacks variety, enemies are boring to fight, I dont even remember much from the story or the different endings, but it was a long time ago that I played it.

There are better mediums suited for what you need. In fact you could be reading visual novels instead of ubislop with jrpg coat of paint
