>Weirdly hostile towards rogues>A weirdly number of darkness-based subclasses even though there's very few dark areas in the game and no option to play during night.>Crowd controls have almost all been massively nerfed, and enemies are not only just able to undo many crowd controls, they will actually prioritize undoing your crowd controls if they are within sprinting distance of a crowd controlled target>No ready action>No actual spellbook item for wizards>Wizards copying scrolls to their spellbooks costs money for some fucking reason>No need to prepare spells, you can switch between them freely in the spell tab as much as you want with the only limitation being that you can't do it in combat>No need for a free hand to cast somatic spells>No need for a components pouch or divine focus to cast spells>No reagents at all>No regular bolts/arrows ammunition>Races had their racial stat bonuses all removed with no attempt to re-balance the races around this change and only humans and half-elves compensated for their loss of stats.>Cleric domains not tied to the gods they worship>No real mention of alignment anywhere>"Flying" is just jumping with style>You fight a million goblins, but there's literally zero orc enemies. They're just straight up not in the game. The Cult of the Absolute somehow managed to convert fucking *gnolls* to their religion, but not a single orc.
yeah but I don't play DnD so I don't care about a single one of those things
>>738981279>I don't care about DnD, so I'm going to go play the DnD game
>no tideous mechanics that add very little
>>738981319did you complain about Baldur's Gate 1 not being accurate either?
>>738981684Baldur's Gate 1 was still largely experimental. We now have games that do all these things.
>>738981142Yes they changed the DnD ruleset ever so slightly to make it fit in their streamlined video game
>>738981448I don't see any tedious mechanics that add very little.
>>738981729there will never be a game wholly accurate to its tabletop counterpart. Nor should they want to, they are two entirely different mediums
>>738981752There are video games that follow the ruleset.
>>738981769Even if you think not needing a free hand to cast somatic spells is a good thing, that doesn't excuse shit like being weirdly hostile towards rogues, having like a third of the subclasses be darkness-based in a decidedly bright and well lit game, nerfing crowd controls, the lack of ready action, wrecking the races, destroying flavor, etc.
>>738981796So? The core ruleset is 95 percent DnD compliant. What you mentioned are some fringe rules. Also>even though there's very few dark areas in the game The entire Act2 is in darkness
>>738981901For the purposes of class mechanics, not that much.
>>738981142>Weirdly hostile towards roguesHuh?They are by far the most broken class that can have 5 attacks per turn before using any resources like postions or spells. Also practically infinite invisibility and free items since you can steal everything. Never get ambushed, never trigger a trap, always go first.Maybe learn how to play.
>>738982345>No stealth check after attacking from stealth, it ALWAYS breaks you out of stealth and makes you have to go restealth>Game does not indicate where line of sight is outside of stealth and is happy to let you stealth inside line of sight only to immediately break you out of stealth, allowing you to have effectively wasted an action>The game wants you to use a special action to sneak attack, and has the normal sneak attack function turned off and hidden away in the reactions menu (even though sneak attack doesn't use a reaction)
>>738982816>No stealth check after attacking from stealthNo shit? Unless you use magic like greater invisibility obviously you will need to rehide.>Game does not indicate where line of sight is outside of stealthAre you actually baiting right now? You can press shift and see all the vision cones.>The game wants you to use a special action to sneak attackYes, and the reaction method allows you to save it up in case you'd overkill an enemy. If anything it makes it easier to play.
>>738981142>Wizards copying scrolls to their spellbooks costs money for some fucking reasoncause thats what the rules are?
>>738983061>No shit? Unless you use magic like greater invisibility obviously you will need to rehide.Normally, you would be able to do a stealth check against a perception check from your target to see if your target saw you.>You can press shift and see all the vision cones.Nothing in the game indicates that.>Yes, and the reaction method allows you to save it up in case you'd overkill an enemy. The normal function allows you to decide if you want to sneak attack or not. The special action shit just leads the player to believe that they only have one shot to get their sneak attack in.I am not saying that rogues are unplayable. I am saying that the game is weirdly hostile towards them for no apparent reason. Automatic un-stealthing on attacks, not having an intuitive way to check line of sight on the UI, letting the player stealth in line of sight and automatically failing it (causing you to waste an action) instead of greying it out, turning the normal sneak attack function off and hiding it away in the menus. This doesn't break the rogue forever and make them unplayable, but it is weirdly hostile.
>>738983360Copying scrolls to your spellbook costs time, not money.
>>738983368You being retarded doesn't mean there was a conspiracy against a class. That's actually schizo behavior.
DOS2 is better and DOS3 will be bigly better
>>738983487Okay, explain to me why they would take away the stealth check and hide the normal sneak attack function.
>>738983402kys dumbass
>>738983846Because it would be utterly game breaking if you could keep invisibility after attacks without using the spell? Also it's not hidden at all, it's permanetly visible on the fucking UI like all reactions. All the other classes also need them to be set manually or they will keep wasting them on nonsense. They probably set the defaults for console faggots since it requires fewer inputs.
>>738983997It wouldn't be broken, what are you talking about? It would just make stealth checks useful. And it is, in fact, hidden away in the fucking menus. I don't think many players check the reactions tab to see if one of their core functions is turned off. What the game implies is that sneak attack has become a special action.
>>738984117>it woudn't be broken to have 5 free crits per turnAnd again it's not hidden, the icon is literally visible at all times and reactions are a base gameplay mechanic. If you miss it like you have missed the vision cones you have down syndrome or should stop sniffing glue.
>>738984276How the fuck would you have five free crits per turn? By going assassin? Then you wouldn't get five attacks, would you? Because you're either a thief OR assassin, so you would be missing the extra bonus action. If you're talking about sneak attacks, you only get one per round regardless of if you are stealthed or not.
>>738984276>And again it's not hidden, the icon is literally visible at all timesAre you talking about the fucking special action icon?My guy, you get a chance to sneak attack every time you hit a target that you have advantage against or is being threatened by one of your allies with a finesse weapon. You do NOT need to do some special sneak attack action to do it. You should be able to sneak attack once per round any time you hit a valid enemy with a finesse weapon. It only works that way if you enable it in the reactions menu. The game has that stupid sneak attack button that makes it seem like you have to press *that* in order to sneak attack.
Rogue being able to stay invisible behind a due he has stabbed just looks fucking stupid. Simple as.
>>738984679You can basically skip the enemy turn indefinetly and get guaranteed crtis forever. Couple it with assasins surprise and gloomstalker ambush and it's basically "I win" button. Now add some items that reduce amount to roll a crit and it's reaching beyond godhood. Even as is this playstyle is trivially easy on honor mode already without the permanent invisibility that you want.>>738984798The reactions icons, you retard. They are embedded in the UI and visibe at all times.
How is it hostile towards rogues? Is it because you can't backstab repeatedly by going invisible again after every attack or what?
