You spend additional time trying to find what works for you, preparing materials, and cleaning up afterwards, or you can just use your hand. Also, you can be a lot gentler and deliberate with your hands. A tight toy is going to be tight no matter what. A heavier toy is going to apply weight regardless of how you use it. You'll probably find the onahole better sensation-wise, but again, it's more time-consuming to use. There's a lot out there to try, though.
