What the fuck is happening over at Sega? It's been over 2 years since the Game Awards announcement where they basically said they were making a big come back and announced a bunch of new entries to old franchises. None of those have released or even been seen again, with the sole exception of the cheapest looking one Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. Their "super game" they announced in 2021 is now cancelled. Sonic Frontiers in 2022 was the last proper Sonic game they've made. Basically the only real things they've put out since publicly stating they're "going all in" on making big new games 5 years ago are the yearly Yakuza releases, which love them or hate them(I like them) are pretty low effort games where 80% of the content is just recycled to the point where each one is made in under 8 months.

It's genuinely starting to feel like nothing they've had planned is going to see the light of day and they don't have any back up plans. They've made more merch announcements than anything to do with actual video games. I could even see them going under completely if they don't start putting games out soon, hell they spent a third of their networth buying Rovio for no reason and I doubt that's paying off. Is Sega doomed?

sega is fucked, the VF5 REVO announcement was huge for me but the game doesn't even work online. they have zero idea what they are doing

They invented the Concord genre which /v/ cannot stop talking about. Isn't that enough for you?

They've increased the Yakuza budget in general. This has been reflected in all the games from 7 onward. They have way more voiced content, major minigames are bigger, the texture quality is much higher, etc. It's very clearly reflected in the games if you pay attention.

When it comes to the other games they just said in the financials they canceled a Super Game which was an enormous hit but Golden Axe, JSR, and I think Crazy Taxi are still in development though I guarantee you they're all going to flop. Virtua Fighter also has a new game in development but there's zero chance that will recoup its costs if they're doing anything higher than A or AA. It's already a fighting game so it's niche, on top of being an older IP that hasn't seen the light of day in years. Hyenas got cancelled and that was one of their major investments too. Besides that it's just business as usual with their smaller games like Puyo Puyo, they have their bigger hitters in Sonic and Total War, and Atlus is still doing stuff like P4G.

Crossworlds is good
Otherwise who knows, how Sega operates and remains in business are two mysteries that will never be solved. Watching them do what they do is entertainment in itself.
I also remember them delisting some other Steam ports of Dreamcast games a while ago. Wonder what that's about

I'm pretty sure it's because they're doing a remake/remaster to those games at least I know jet set radio and crazy taxi are.

JSR and CT are supposed to be brand new entries into the series as far as we know.

they were banking hard on a live service game, like Sony, and fucked up, just like Sony did too.
>>

They spent up all their budget on getting fucking Snoop Dogg into the new Yakuza game and some faceless slut that people won't stop jerking off.

The Super Game cancellation probably made them rethink their plans that also affected their revival games since they we're related with their Super Game.

Might be dying. At least Sonic might be and they don't know what to do since none of their other IPs are nearly as big as it. Crossworlds and everything else getting crossed with Sonic, including things like Care Bears and Smurfs, feels like the dying shilling breath of a franchise on its last legs asking literally anyone for handouts. If the fourth movie doesn't outsell the previous 3, we're at least due for another Sonic drought.

Sega is full of dinosaur boomers near retirement age. Same with Square Enix. The producer and composer of FF14 are old enough to be your grandpapi.

Sega of Japan have been headless chicken fucks since Saturn.

The Golden Axe TV series at Comedy Central is priority number 1, and we already saw the new Shinobi, which has been getting DLC
