The only thing I'm expecting from GTA VI is for R*'s newest iteration of RAGE to absolutely decimate the industry's obsession with UE5. Delivering better graphics and tech at a fraction of the hardware demand of Timmy's shitheap is the least I'm hoping for from R*.
Well yeah that's a given, no one else uses RAGE except Rockstar it's not a jack of all trades mercenary engine like UE.
>>738987719My point is that I want R* to tell the industry that if they ditch their in-house engines for UE5, they're fucking retarded and shooting themselves in the foot. I'm sure R* will deliver with VI's RAGE and hopefully it'll start a trend in the industry to stop betting on jack of all trades, masters of none like UE.The benefit of "having a standardized engine meaning an easier time finding employees" becomes meaningless when the trade-off is that you cannot compete with quality of games made on in-house engines that give the developers infinitely more flexibility. It's been a good while since we had a major release on an in-house engine like this so hopefully it'll be a wake-up call.
>>738987624>R*>decimate the industryyou mean the company that makes one game every 10 years then goes back to milking shark cards? this is like saying the deck is gonna dominate the handheld market when they only made 20 units
>>738988152That's all it takes to make other companies seethe. All those posts from developers about BG3 quality not being attainable will be tenfold for GTA 6 when it releases.
>>738987850i agree. CDPR announced the next cyberpunk game is UE5, it's gonna run like dogshit compared to the first, which actually runs quite well
>>738988543Yeah, REDengine was pretty solid all things considered. Nvidia helped them out on developing it and the results show that, the game looks stunning, runs really well, and doesn't need forced TAA to mask fundamentally broken rendering like UE does. One of the few in-house engines that was still worth a damn, gone, because CDPR's management is just that bad. Croteam abandoned Serious Engine after all people who worked on it left and they didn't bother upkeeping it, GSC abandoned X-Ray since it was a buggy mess from the start, even though the community went above and beyond to keep it alive, and I guess RGG Studio is the only one left with a good in-house engine with their Dragon Engine that they're still using for their upcoming Stranger Than Heaven.
>>738987624>Delivering better graphics and techLike with *snickers* GTA5?
>>738987624
>>738987624why are you censoring the r-word?
>>738987624The TECHNOLOGY is really the only thing I'm looking forward to in GTA6. If RDR2 was anything to go on I think they will deliver.
>>738989092It's still wild replaying GTA IV today and seeing Euphoria in action. 18 years old game tech. IMO that's what's really missing from vidya. Also HRTF that was essentially killed off by Creative's greed when they sued Aureal into bankruptcy so that they could peddle their sound cards, that was game tech that was truly game changing, especially in first person shooters. You just cannot play STALKER without OAL Soft's HRTF it adds so much to both the immersion and gameplay.
>>738988939The impressive part about GTAV is that they got it to run on ps3/360. Dogshit consoles that couldn't even run GTAIV in acceptable framerates.
>absolutely decimate the industry's obsession with UE5if you add two and two together, you can probably figure out why the industry uses UE5 and not RAGE
>>738988543>which actually runs quite well>>738988743>REDengine was pretty solid all things considered.I never played the game but wasn't it infamous for running like garbage? I know it's been years since release and there obviously would be optimization patches, but I thought this is/was one of the game's biggest criticisms (besides people expecting the scope of GTA but cyberpunk). Serious question.
>>738989475They've improved it a ton from those initial criticisms, I had great time playing the game on patch 2.31 on a 3090. Which is funny considering one of the reasons they want to ditch REDengine is because everyone who worked on it left the company, yet clearly they're still capable of developing it.
5 had worse physics/vehicle deformation than 4, don't have high hopes for 6.
>>738987850Option A:Use expensive in-house engineLess money for marketingPoor salesOption B:Use cheap UE5 assetsSpend most of your budget for marketingGood sales, regardless of game qualityIf you're in for the money (which most companies are), then your best bet is cheaping out on the game developement part and instead use your money to pay Youtubers/streamers/influencers to buy your shit game.In 2026, good games don't sell. Only hype generated by marketing sells.
>>738987624What other devs uses Rage, besides Rockstar? UE5 is crap, but cheap. E33 was made using pre-defined assets. It runs like shit and it looks mediocre, but goycatle praised like the best looking game of 2025.
>>738988543It took them years to get the original cyberpunk in a stable position. You fucking faggots lying and not admitting that are the most disingenuous and dishonest people on here.
>>738987624I BET WE WON'T SEE FENTANYL ZOMBIES IN IT.COWARDS.
>>738988416>posts from developers about BG3 quality not being attainable will be tenfold for GTA 6 when it releasesNo, BG3 was a surprise from devs that most people had never heard of. GTA6 is made by the biggest company in the industry so they wont even need to cope.
