>Sega and Capcom both released investor slides where they announce they lost faith in live service slop and are going to revitalize their legacy IPsThe system... works?
>>738989864>and are going to revitalize their legacy IPsLet them prove it first.
>Nintendo didn't say it because fans bought everything anyway Sad
>>738989864JP companies are whatever. @ me when you start hearing that coming from EA or Take Two.
>you will not play GaaS titles and you will be happy
>>738989864sadly they still missed the point. Its not the IP. Its that back then, the businessmen got out of the developer’s way and let them make games. They learned the wrong lesson because they still want to think they are an important part of the process when they are actually a detriment to the process.
>>738989864They're going back to selling 70% of the game for full price and the rest as DLC. You just wait.
>"""revitalize"""Can't wait for another flood of remasters of old games with a lookin' good filter

>>738990039>back toAre you implying that hasnt been a thing for over 20 years now?
Yes and no. It's not like live service isn't still where nearly all the money is. It's just that like the rest of the industry, live service has become incredibly oversaturated and hard to break into. Any company that isn't already successful with live service is probably turbo-fucked on making it work now, especially with player bases across the entire industry starting to shrink. The only way to get an audience now is to take it from someone else who is already sitting on all the resources needed to defend their position. The future of video games is consolidation of the dwindling players on fewer and fewer strong brands, with only the occasional outlier.
>>738990418not really, there were a ton of very strong indie releases this year. maybe your described future is true for companies run by out of touch ceos
>>738989864It was bound to happen. Most people are only going to play one forever game, they'll only ever stop playing that forever game when they either get bored or a patch ruins the experience. There's only so much room for so many forever games.
>segaJUST GIVE ME A HOME PORT OF SCUD RACE PLEASE I BEG YOU
>>738989943Anon, unlike every retarded company, Nintendo didn't put all their eggs in the live service basket.
>>738989864too late, we were just robbed of games from all the big companies for a solid decade. sega, capcom, sony, etc. none of those publishers made a single fucking videogame in the last 10 years because they were busy wasting literally billions of dollars on live service slop that no-one played. And now AI is going to kill us all in like 2 or 3 years. We wasted that crucial decade for nothing. And none of the games in the post-live-service era will come out in time for anyone to play it. What a disaster
