Story wise there is nowhere else to go, they backed themselves into a wall and everyone are old and Nero is married. Vergil has already played the baddie twice because there is no one else than fill in his shoes.

>>738997865My elevator pitch is that when Vergil ate the fruit of the tree, he became the rightful king of hell, so the story is him and Dante working their way through hell to the throne room, they can meet some minor demons loyal to their new king, kill off a few demons from past games who were simply banished, they kill mundus for realsies, maybe argosax.And then they have a fight for good luck and then Dante goes homeYou could also do some shit with the goddess of time and have it be a best hit's game (possibly add some roguelite elements of you want), fight younger versions of the two and old bosses before fighting the goddess herself.The other options I thought of were showing off actual angels or more neutral eldrich monsters/creatures, or you fight alternate Vergil's and Dante's from a timeline where Vergil was the one who was saved by Eva and Dante is the one who abandoned his humanity

Especially if you frame it that Dante's on a knifes edge from becoming an outright villain prior to the first DMC book. However If i'm being honest that wouldn't really be a DMC game. It would be more like Max Payne or that one Punisher game Staring Tony Redgrave.Personally I have this idea that Dante was originally in the Air Force trying to live a normal life like his mother wanted. Only to get court-martialed cause he ended beating his commanding officers skull into a pulp cause he caught him violently raping a blond girl that reminded him of his mother death. Effectively forcing him underground while feeling a great sense of personal shame.

>>738997865They could finally do a game about Nero doing shit on his own. He has a newly opened office, way shittier than Dante's, but he seeks out devil hunting gigs and makes a name for himself. He gets called up by someone who is willing to pay a million dollars to whoever kills a certain demon for him, and Nero is like 10th on the list. A few of the other devil hunters have already died before he started, and some of the others try to fight him to have less competition. Midway through the story, he tracks the demon through a portal to hell, and that unlocks an optional mission showing what Dante is doing at the time.
