Lets see.>empty desert you're forced to bike through for collectables you need to finish the game.>forced backtracking every time you get an upgrade instead of letting you use it immediately.>Federation as a focus>Myles; literally everything about him.>Sylux ended up being a joke>complete disregard for established loreWhat an embarassment; just stick to 2D Metroid.

>>738997713I believe this game will see a lot of love in the coming years. Right now it's easy to be disappointed because it's so by the numbers and people have access to Prime 1 remastered. The parts where the game shines are a little under baked, which serves to drive frustration in waiting 8 years for its release. What is specifically wrong with it is death by a thousand cuts; and by that I mean all the aspects of the game where it just falls shy of taking a final step toward realizing its mechanics. A huge point of contention is the inclusion of the motorbike, or rather the bolted on hubworld that is the only means the developers have utilized to justify its usage. The game could have been a lot different, and likewise the game could be roughly the same if they were willing to make sacrifices in some areas to the betterment of others. Everytime I reflect on the game I have huge "aha moments" where I recognize that this piece of design could be rearranged, rewritten, removed, and it would then prop up some other piece. Ultimately the game falls flat because everything just drags everything else down with rarely the semblance of a cohesive vision. I could list a lot of examples of this. However, as I stated I believe people will warm up to this in the near future, but it's unlikely it will ever be anyone's favorite Metroid game.

It's a bit dull because Nintendo think every game has to be idiot-proof.It needs to target an older audience or just not exist.
>>738999035>I believe this game will see a lot of love in the coming years.Of course it will. There is always a defense force that comes out once enough time passes to try to convince all the people who are never going to bother playing it that, "It was actually really kino guys! Now let me list all these things that sound good in isolation while I conveniently leave out how poorly they were actually executed and integrated into the game as a whole, and I will hand wave away any criticisms and ignore the games genuine faults!"
>>738999560It's not a defense force, that is an overly simplistic impression. What I am describing was a phrase "warming up to" which means generally people by and large will lessen their grudge or vendetta they have against a rather, decent and pretty good game, that of course excels at nothing in particular. If you look around you can see people thinking this game a 6 out 10, proclaiming it's worse than Other M or Samus Returns, give it a few years and statements like those will rightfully be seen as completely nonsensical. The game isn't faultless, there's nearly no aspect of the game that outclasses the other three Metroid Prime games, but in turn as odd as it might be to you in the moment, there's actually no real low point in the game either. Even in one of the most decried aspects of the game, collecting green energy crystals, the way it's executed in the game actually doesn't prove to be an actual issue. It's just too easy to have a kneejerk reaction to it existing at all, is all.
Insane that Saaros is a better 3D metroid than Prime 4.It even does the "beyond" theme better with its lovecraftian aesthetic.
