Kiwami 1 actually pissed me off when I played it because I preferred the original so much. I considered Kiwami 2 a step in the right direction but neither replaced the PS2 versions.

Playing in release order is kino because you will literally find things to appreciate about every single title. You can see what they brought to the table, and what was improved afterward. Because of this, I have fond things to say about every title. But if you only play the "best" ones, you'll potentially ruin the other titles.
